The Declan Queally-trained Robaddan made a winning debut when taking the five-year-old geldingsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; maiden at Ballyarthur under Michael Sweeney. The son of Flemensfirth was up with the pace throughout, in a contest which saw the field get well strung out on the soft ground conditions. Having jumped well for much of the journey, the five-yearold was sent about his business three-out and the chesnut galloped on well in the closing stages to see off a number of challengers. Third behind a couple of smart looking prospects on his debut at Borris earlier in the month, the son of Jeremy stepped up on that effort here to win comprehensively. The good-looking bay bounced out and made much of the running on this occasion, before showing a smart turn of foot in the closing stages to win by seven lengths. Pens Man made his only start a winning one when taking the four-yearold maiden at Lisronagh for Sam Curling. Always up with the pace, the son of Sholokhov was very slick over his obstacles throughout. Travelling smoothly into the contest under Pat King, the chesnut picked up smartly in the closing stages to record a comprehensive twolength success. With a number of expensive purchases shaping well in behind, this maiden may well prove to be a decent affair, considering it also clocked the fastest time of the day. Already a half-brother to three winners, this likeable sort looks to have a big future ahead of him.

He showed signs of inexperience in the early stages of the two-and-a-half-mile contest, but once the penny dropped he ran out an easy winner, scoring by two and a half lengths and 14 lengths. The runner-up had shown glimmers of form, while the third was sent off favourite following a good recent debut behind a horse who has won again subsequently. Two runs, two wins is the record for this gelding, who opened his account in a two-mile point-to-point bumper at Barbury Racecourse in February, beating a rival who had gained experience when second in a similar race two months earlier. This horse then won an 11-runner, three-mile maiden point-to-point at Brampton Bryan, showing he could jump as well as gallop. On the latter occasion he was given a patient ride, eased into contention on the final circuit, led running to the last and won readily by two and a half lengths and one and a half lengths, but the margin could have been greater. A Land Rover Sale graduate and a son of champion sire Martaline, he is out of a mare who was placed in a Listed hurdle in France, and has produced one other winner in that country from just four foals.

The bay made steady progress into the contest inside the final mile and was setting off in pursuit of the leaders when a mistake two-out hindered his chances. Having caught the eye travelling very smoothly into the contest, the son of Dubai Destination was tight for room on the run to three-out. To his credit the good jumping sort found plenty for pressure when asked for his effort, keeping on gamely over the last couple of fences to record a two and a half-length success. Going forward this likeable gelding looks likely to progress into a fine staying prospect under rules.

Who’s The Boss lost little in defeat when only beaten just a head on her debut in the four-year-old mares’ maiden at Monksgrange. The daughter of Oscar was given a patient ride by Harley Dunne, before coming to throw down a very strong challenge in the home straight. Ellen Doyle’s charge rallied gamely to the line, almost collaring the winner in the dying strides. With the leading pair pulling 10 lengths clear of the field, they both look like very decent prospects and this likeable sort could well progress into a very exciting type on the track proper.

The son of Winged Love jumped notably well throughout the contest and picked up the running at the half-way point. Clearly travelling best under Ben Crawford turning for home, the gelding held off a strong challenge from the previously placed runner-up and won with plenty in hand at the line. Already a half-brother to two winners, this debutant appears to be a high-class prospect who should be capable of making a name for himself on the track proper.
