Almost 30 years later, one of Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Cameron’s top movie hits is becoming a television series ... and that’s the truth.

The seriocomic adventure “True Lies” premieres in its weekly form Wednesday, March 1, on CBS and Paramount+, basically remaking the 1994 film as the opening episode. Steve Howey (“Shameless,” “Reba”) assumes Schwarzenegger’s role as Harry Tasker, a super-spy whose wife Helen (Ginger Gonzaga of “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,” inheriting Jamie Lee Curtis’ earlier part) believes he’s a mild-mannered computer salesman. Once she learns what his real job is, she’s enlisted by his intelligence agency, and they frequently travel the world on missions – while trying to prevent their children (Annabella Didion, Lucas Jaye) from finding out.

“It’s the hardest job I’ve had yet,” states the good-humored Howey, who has no illusions about possibly being mistaken for Schwarzenegger as he generates his own “True Lies” under the leadership of executive prodicer Matt Nix (“Burn Notice”).

“This experience has taught me a lot about having an idea and then executing it,” Howey reflects, “because that doesn’t always pan out. Every episode of this gets better. And we get more tired.”

“guilty” that she didn’t see the movie before landing the TV job: “I didn’t want to be influenced by Jamie Lee’s iconic performance. And then, I had to buy the DVD off eBay ... and a DVD player. It was a whole ‘thing.’ ”

With Omar Miller (“CSI: Miami”), Erica Hernandez and Mike O’Gorman also featured, “True Lies” has been in development for TV since 2010, and Gonzaga reasons that it’s “good that it’s been a while.” Since Cameron also had other commitments (including the now-Oscar-nominated “Avatar: The Way of Water”), his longtime associate Rae Sanchini had more firsthand involvement in the casting; Tom Arnold, of the original movie, is a guest star on the show.

Being built for action, “True Lies” can put its stars at risk, as Howey learned close to the end of filming the first season.

“I was fighting a stunt man,” he reports, “and we did it once and it went great. Then we did it again, and he pretended to bounce his face off a wall and as he went back, my left hand went forward into his neck, and it snapped my left ring finger back to the point where my nail hit my knuckle. And I finished the stunt, and when they yelled ‘Cut!,’ I snapped it back. Then I got an X-ray and sure enough, I broke the bone. And I thought, ‘There’s a reason you have a stunt guy. Use him.’ ”

Telling the true story of two British spies and lifelong friends, the series opener “Boom-OohYatatatah,” follows the defection of notorious British intelligence officer and KGB double agent Kim Philby (Guy Pearce) through the lens of his complex relationship with MI6 colleague and close friend Nicholas Elliott (Damian Lewis). The show examines espionage through their friendship, the fallout of which affects East-West relations to this day. Adrian Edmondson, Anna Maxwell Martin and Monika Gossmann also star.

Let’s start with airports. I hate the airport experience. Unfortunately with security now, I don’t love taking off the shoes. I don’t love taking off the belt. I don’t love (taking off) the watch. ... I don’t love having your stuff spread in eight bins and then disappearing from your view And then at the end of it all, being pulled over by somebody saying they want to check your bag.

And then wherever we go, sightseeing is a concept that I’ve never gotten excited about. I would do it when I’m traveling but I got no real enjoyment out of it because I don’t innately have a sense of curiosity as a person So those are the reasons that I’m not like the greatest traveler.

It’s one of their most creative builds yet, and Misty combines a one-of-a-kind aquaponic greenhouse and with a new duck sanctuary built by Matt, for an inventive “duckaponics” system that everyone goes “quackers” over in the Season 10 premiere episode “Black Hills Hope.”

The chefs are left a bit flummoxed by something fried in the appetizer basket, but they must power on in order to make it to the next round. Then, the competitive fire is strong in the entrée round as the chefs hustle to put together plates from a particularly strange combination of basket ingredients, including curious fusion tacos. But luckily, judges Alex Guarnaschelli, Marc Murphy, Amanda Freitag and Marcus Samuelsson are impressed when the chefs bring very different yet clear visions to the dessert table in the new episode “Gluten for Punishment.”

“Gotham Knights” (The CW — series premiere, March 14)

In this new drama series, Batman is dead and a powder keg has been ignited in Gotham City without the Dark Knight to protect it. In the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder, his adopted son Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan) is framed for killing Batman, along with the children of some of Batman’s enemies: Duela (Olivia Rose Keegan) and Cullen Row (Tyler DiChiara). With D.A. Harvey Dent (Misha Collins) and the GCPD hot on their trail, Turner will soon learn there is a larger, more dangerous force at work within Gotham City.
