//The Brunelleschi Center of the arts, science, and faith at Piazza Della Signoria is not only sited in a controversial location, but also a controversial building itself because of the gathering of these three very different disciplines. The concept of having the three work amongst each other is accomplished through double-heighten spaces where scholars, although they are separated, can interact visually. The library is what ties the project together as it bring the scholars together both visually and physical through the common factor of knowledge; where the library is the center piece//

//the library is the glue of the Brunelleschi center,as it is what connects all three disciplines spacially through the magnifestation of knowledge//

The GC Tower At Grand Central Avenue The GC Tower at Grand Central Avenue is a mixed-used building composed of residential apartments and office spaces, as well as, commercial retail. The site is located at the entrance of downtown Tampa, giving the opportunity for this tower to become a landmark at the entrance of downtown. The residential tower is composed of studio units, standard units with 3/2 and 2/2 bed and bath ,as well as, the penthouses with a grand penthouse. Some of the ameni- [35] ties that the residents can enjoy from are private parking, a children and dog park. A state of the art health club and pool area. The residents can also enjoy a beautiful Florida sunset from a height of 300 feet in the sky deck where they can set arrangements for receptions.

// Residents enter the tower through a series of catwalks that give them a visual of the northern courtyard. Once they enter through a key access door they are visually connected to the main lobby through the atrium.//

// The Office building extends past the tower pushing into the garage, hence making the first floor of the garage tuck underneath the office b u i l d i n g . / /

The [north courtyard] serves as a buffer between the retail and residential lobby. It also establishes a place where residents, shoppers, and workers can enjoy a beautiful Florida sunset. Or a peaceful morning by the Zen garden located in the middle of the courtyard.

[renew//recycle//restitch] Location: Chaudiere Island, Ottawa //This project is on a very politically charged and controversial site, for reasons being that it sits in the middle between the French Canadians to the north of the site, and English speaking Canadians to the south of the site. What adds to the mix is the site originally belonging to the aboriginal people of the Algonquins. The site is made up of three islands: Chaudiere falls ,which it the bigger of the three; Albert Island, the smallest island; and Victoria Island, the most eastern island point towards Parliament Hill and the Peace tower.//

[55]

[57] // In order to help visualize a project at the urban scale our group decided to make a [junk] model composed of electronic motherboards, and other electronics components to embody the presence of an existing city, and the one to come.//

[57]

[renew//recycle//restitch] The propose of this urban project is to use the Chaudiere Falls as a mediator for all three conflicting parties. The French Canadians, English Canadians, and the Algonquins. After visiting the site, the first problem was addressing transportation. We wanted to establish pedestrian trails as a series of networks that run throughout the island and take the user from the Ontario region into the Gatineau region and vice versa.

[63] Not only do these trails go directly across the water, but also interweave along both coasts and all over Chaudiere Island, Albert Island and Victoria Island. Hence, Making transportation, whether on foot or biking easier to get around. Also designating a specific path known as the express trail that gets users from point a to point b directly across without getting disoriented. We accomplish that through specific way finding, as well as, changes in the trails material and texture.

[connection//network//path] By establishing trails that one side to another; it er to each. These trails exploration by the paths

play as a network that connect from brings these two divided side closalso provide a form of exercise and that interweave throughout the island.

[Albert Island]

//Albert Island is sited south of Chaudiere Falls and is occupied by two buildings parallel to each other. The proposal for Albert Island is to have a steel structure intervene to connect the space between the buildings. By providing overhead protection it bring a more pleasurable atmosphere for the human experience not only for the space between, but for the roof tops as well.//

[Chaudiere Falls]

[Chaudiere Falls]

//Chaudiere Falls also know as the Industrial District is the centerpiece of the entire urban project. The Industrial District is envisioned to be a mixed-used land of commercial and retail buildings accompanied by the Industrial Museum to commemorate the industrial heritage that is linked with chaudiere Falls. The Island itself is surrounded by new modern buildings that provide services and attractions/entertainment for residents of both Ontario and Gatineau. Because of the way the buildings are situated, a plaza is put into place where it becomes the Capital of Ottawa’s living room where every citizens and tourist can enjoy the falls on a beautiful summer evening or ice skate in the winter.//

[direction//axis//progression]

Hull Side is located on the Gatineau side of Ottawa. As a group we decided to make that side the residential community of this new district. In the design process it was taken into consideration to have major axis points creating vistas that direct you into Parliament Hill and the Peace Tower which is fundamental for our concept of reminding the citizens of Canada of the principles in which Canada was founded. Another major axis point is the green campus we created for citizens of that community and workers of Hull. This axis gives plenty of visibility back to the industrial district .

[THE LAMP] This was a two week project where we were to design and fabricate a functioning lamp. The design process for this project involved linear elements meeting monolithic type qualities. By having a slim body and a heavy base represented by steel (the body) and concrete base. The height of the lamp can be adjusted to the user’s preference, as well as, the pivoting motion at the top of the lamp. Another feature of the lamp is the switch-less quality, by simply touching the lamp one can adjust the amount of light one chooses to have.

[83]

[THE CHAIR] This project was a two week assignment to design and fabricate a full scale chair. I decided to design and build a bar tool prototype .The materials used for this bar tool are Sapele wood which has a reddish color to it, as well as an all steel structure for support. What makes this chair special is the specific notches that are made throughout the chair. This is made in order to create a harmonious relationship between the two materials.

[Plaza Mayor]

[aguadilla housing project] The Aguadilla housing project is an affordable housing project in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The site is across the street from the beach and diagonal from a major plaza called the plaza mayor. The site is 300 feet in length by 150 feet in width.

[Ty p ica l H o usi ng Module] composed of one bedroom studio unit, located at the ground level and two family sized units composed of three bedrooms, two baths located at the top floors. These housing modules are designed to enjoy Puerto Rico’s tropical climate, by of fering the users pleasant natural light, as well as, plenty of exterior spaces with beautiful vista to the Atlantic Ocean.
