EXHIBIT OVERVIEW
The Bruise exhibit at the National 9/11 Memorial Museum is an exhibition dedicated to the rescue and recovery workers from the 9/11 incident. It encourages visitors to gain a greater understanding of the pain that rescue workers have been through since 9/11, learn about their vulnerability and relate to the difficult situation they are in. The objective of this exhibition is to understand and learn from the past experience, appreciate rescue workers’ selfless sacrifice and raise visitors’ empathy to assist rescue workers to improve their situations. Through supporting rescue workers, visitors are also empowered by their own acts. The Bruise exhibition consists of four zones: visible bruise, lingering bruise, message lounge and voting room. The use of material and lighting is consistent with the rest of the museum.
