LEE JUNG WOONG 李錠雄 Lee Jung Woong, who made a name of himself internationally with the series of “Brush” paintings, was born in Korea in 1963. He has awarded special awards for Korea Art Exhibition in the year of 1985, 1992 and 1993, and has so far held over twenty solo exhibitions in Korea. In addition to participating in the Shanghai Art Fair three years in a row, Lee also took part in the “Start 2005” Art Fair in France, ARCO Art Fair in Spain, which made him a high reputation artist in the international Art world. Lee Jung Woong’s “brush” painting is not only makes a combination of modern aesthetics including “Performance Art - Abstract Art - Realism”, but uses the deep Western aesthetics, ingeniously blended into the Eastern media and also manages to present the essence of Oriental culture in the most succinct way. Creating his artwork on traditional soft Korean paper, ink rendering and overlapping with the paint to increase the sense of three-dimension on painting, together with the original texture on the paper, it makes the most natural and perfect combination. This precise strokes of depicting the object, makes every tip of each hair on the brush seem so real, even more real than the actual picture, as if you can reach out and touch it. The first solo exhibition of Lee Jung Woong in Taiwan takes place in Asia Art Center. Picturesque ness brushes present the composition of meticulous strokes and terseness painting, leading viewers to directly experience an astonishing visual sense from the artist so called “to be written into the history of Korean art”.
以「毛筆系列」畫作享譽國際的藝術家李錠雄，於1963年生於韓國，分別在1985、1992、1993年獲得韓國美術展特選，至今已舉行逾20次個 展。除了連續三年參與上海藝術博覽會之外，更參加過法國Start展、西班牙ARCO展，在國際藝術界享有極高聲譽。 李錠雄的毛筆畫，是所謂「行為藝術－抽象美學－現實主義」等現代美學的集合體，不僅沿用深厚的西方美學，更巧妙融入東方媒材與真實情 感，以最簡潔的方式表達禪意的氣韻。創作於質地柔軟的傳統韓紙上，墨色的渲染與顏料的重疊更增加畫面立體感，與紙張原有的紋理做了最自 然完美的結合。這種精確描繪物體的筆觸手法，使毛筆尖的每一根毛髮都如此逼真，甚至比照片更真實，彷彿伸手可觸。在亞洲藝術中心舉行的 首次台灣個展，一系列栩栩如生的毛筆畫作，呈現細緻的筆觸與精練的畫面構成，挑戰觀賞者的視覺神經，直接感受「能被寫入韓國美術史」藝 術家所帶來的視覺震撼。
