wadaokou, metro station | DAAP academic project semester eight

The architectural site here is (Wadaokou station, Beijing). In relation to today’s world, developing technologies and users friendly solutions increases the potential of rail considered as convenient form of public transport. Idea is to create a social transit space creating dialogue between architecture, urban space, mixed reality and people. Integration of augmented reality and architecture is experimental phase. The key factor of the train station is seamless movement simulation. In the project, goal is to achieve the design process following several software driven methods; Mass Motion, Tobii Eye Tracking, Unreal game engine and grasshopper to analyze and evaluate design that works best for the user interface. Among other design decisions, the station distinguishes itself from the surrounding through its rich material palette. The palette has been picked as to avoid colours in architecture , and to emphasize seamless and neutral materiality. The station’s lowered ceiling with continuous lighting along the curves would guide user to follow movement based on massing. It visually connects all the public areas of the station, and relates to the surrounding environments with its color.

Wudaokou cafe, ground level transit. Digital cafe area with the idea of less human effort connecting the paid zone and urban space around the plaza. The area is wrapped with hologram skin that covers all 3 levels. The perforation in skin filters interesting shadows in the space creating balance between real world and virtual world.

way finding & design evaluation methods

Mass-motion analysis delivered significant observations. In the existing scenario, the entrances/exit nodes to the station is under the bridge. The first iteration of the design using mass motion was with the existing scenario. In the project, one of the key factors were the entrance nodes. The shell was intended to be series of nodes that allows multiple access to the building connected by series of vertical circulation arteries. The primary access to the shell is at corner of each sides that allows easiest access from the street to the station Rhino+Maya+Mass Motion The ability to see what the users is seeing can bring another perspective to understanding how a design is performing. Tobii Eye – tracking methods and software have allowed designers to test and analyze the design with user’s perspective. Eye- tracking helped me to analyze the accurate medium of sign-age and extract data to see that attracts the eye most strongly. The idea was to develop sign-age series that would draw users from street level to station level.

225 Franklin Oxford Properties | Gensler work project summer 2018

225 Franklin Street is a 34-story building that was built in 1966. The 916,260 square foot Class A office tower is located in the heart of Post Office Square in downtown Boston. The layout of Post Office Square was influenced by the sense of guest intimacy and comfort found at great hotel lobby bars. Here it is expressed by communal seating around a marble bar with face-to-face barista engagement. This high-bar has been paired with a very efficient front line to quickly serve Boston’s busy working community. My main responsibilities included working on design development according to a brief that are functional, appealing and appropriate for the space. Making client presentations, editing drawings, furnishing, materials and finishes selection.

The aim of this project is to join 3D printing and robotics together, to make 3D printing more flexible and to remove limits. To make it possible, in this project the following main aspects have been developed: designing and 3D printing the shell using clay as material In this print the cubic dimension is 5”x7”x7” with a overhang of 40% from the vertical. The surface model is generated using ALICE platform from ZAHA code and grasshopper. Tools | Rhino,Grasshopper,Unity,KUKA Robotic arm

Myntra | CEPT academic project semester nine

Myntra has achieved reasonable success in promoting private fashion labels (Roadster, HRX, Dressberry, 3 LABELS) on its online site and the offline foray is an extension of this attempt to promote the private labels while keeping the main focus on the online model. The offline model tries to bridge the gap in the section of the fashion buying population that is not very comfortable making such purchases online and wish to go through the physical ‘look and feel’ process before they make the purchase. After opening individual label stores in TIER 1 cities, Myntra to come up with multiband store showcasing its private labels in TIER 2 cities. Tools | Rhino+Vray+Photoshop

unlock hundarman | CEPT workshop reservation project summer school

“Unlock Hundarman- Museum of Memories”, a workshop organised by Roots Collective in collaboration with SWS CEPT University, Ahmedabad to restore a border village- Hundarman. Hundarman is a mountain settlement, which holds a lot of historical importance. The village was abandon after the Kargil war. The museum exhibits coins, jewellery and utensils in use half a century ago. Most of the things on display belong to Ansari’s own family. There were even some traditional games, hand-crafted out of cattle bone and pebbles. The museum stands testimony not only to life in the region, but also the after-effects of the war. A broken shell from a Bofors gun, bullets, and the identity cards of villagers which were rigorously checked on each entry and exit — these are scars from the past that are yet to heal.
