Taranaki Gardens
All in all, there are about 50 gardens in the Taranaki area that are open to the public and many of these are considered to have international, national or regional significance. South Taranaki is home to a number of standout gardens. Here are a few you might like to check out:
HOLLARD GARDENS are located in Kaponga, a 30-minute drive from Hāwera. These gardens are densely planted with beautiful plants, with an emphasis on wellestablished rhododendrons and camellias. Visitors can discover the garden through meandering paths, open lawns, the children’s area and a food growing area.

Hāwera’s KING EDWARD PARK was established in 1902, has rose beds of both heritage and modern varieties, historic aged trees and a century old model boating pond. The kids will love the hidden features found along the pathways including the 150-year-old cannon, a pirate ship and fort.
