Located in the historic center of Prague inside the restored Thurn-Taxis Palace, Anglo-American University provides students a truly international education in the heart of Europe. AAU was founded in 1990 as the first private institution in the Czech Republic to use English as the language of instruction, combining American and British academic principles with Central European traditions. In 2016 AAU became the only higher education institution in the Czech Republic to receive both Czech and American accreditation by the WASC Senior College and University Commission, thus providing a double guarantee of educational quality and academic programs that are recognized globally.

Today AAU is celebrating its 30th anniversary and is now home to students, staff and faculty from more than 80 different countries around the globe. With a majority of AAU's students coming from abroad and an equally diverse faculty, students learn in a multicultural environment that prepares them for the global landscape and creates a unique atmosphere of genuine cultural immersion and exploration. SEMESTER & SUMMER STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMS FOR NON-U.S. STUDENTS: AAU’s semester long or summer (3-week or 6 week sessions in June/July) study abroad programs allow for individual students to enrol in AAU courses and receive an AAU transcript for course transfer to their home university. Courses are offered across all of AAU’s five schools of study. Students benefit from small, interactive classes designed for authentic engagement and individual attention from professors, enjoy cultural immersion, all the regular AAU student services, plus additional practical support with housing, visa applications, orientation sessions etc.. All this against the magical backdrop that is the City of Hundred Spires. SUMMER SCHOOLS Prague summers are an ideal time for students to spend 2 to 6 weeks studying specific topics across academic fields that are closely connected to a local context. AAU summer schools are open to individual students from all around the world and provide transferable academic credit. FACULTY-LED PROGRAMS As part of their own curriculum, faculty and student groups from universities and colleges world-wide choose AAU in Prague as their location for a short term international experience which contributes to part of a particular course at their home university. AAU’s Program Coordinator and faculty from both institutions work together on tailor-made content, co-taught classes, experiential learning and extracurricular activities and excursions to supplement the course. These very popular programs have been prepared by AAU in the past for student cohorts from Purdue University, Central Washington University, Kent State University, Harvard University, the University of Southern Florida, the University of Florida and others.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS In collaboration with partner universities and institutions AAU provides special degree and non-degree programs for undergraduates, graduates and young professionals. These include: European Journalism Institute The European Journalism Institute is a week-long academic experience for early- to mid-career journalists and journalism students, offered by the Fund for American Studies at AAU. Participants from around the world explore fundamental issues related to journalism ethics, religious reporting, conflict reporting and business reporting through lectures, discussions and projects. The program includes housing, meals, 3 U.S. credits, a variety of notable professors, guest lectures, cultural and social events as well as opportunities for professional development and networking. Participants who complete EJI will graduate into a global network of 42,000 TFAS alumni, living and working in some of the world’s most exciting cities, including Washington D.C., New York, London, Paris, Beirut, Hong Kong, Beijing, Buenos Aires and Santiago, to name a few.
SPECIAL PROGRAMS CONTINUED Global Degree Program Launching in the Fall of 2021 , the Global Degree Program is a partnership between Anglo-American University in Prague, Czech Republic and Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, in the United States. Students study their first two years at AAU, their last 2 years at Kent State and choose from 3 degree options in high-demand fields: Emerging Media and Technology Computer Science Computer Information Systems This special opportunity provides students with a highquality degree, the opportunity to study at one of the most international universities in Europe, as well as at one of the top public universities in the U.S. all within the same program. Students will learn global perspectives, relevant skills and will be well positioned for a career in the world marketplace.
SPECIAL PROGRAMS CONTINUED University of Southern California Semester Abroad in Prague Prior to the start of their studies in the Spring Semester at the University of Southern California, students from USC can participate the USC Fall Semester in Prague program, an exclusive partnership with Anglo-American University in Prague. This program is designed to offer students the opportunity to spend their Fall Semester abroad at AAU, earning credits that will transfer directly to USC. By participating students gain both international experience and the chance to get a jump-start on their path at USC.
Global Campus Experience Program – coming soon The Global Campus Experience Program offers over 60 degree programs delivered fully online in English by University of Arizona professors paired with student access to the AAU campus, facilities, and services in Prague. AAU provides program support and a unique in-person college experience all with the convenience of an online education. Students from all over the world can enrol in this unique program, where they will be based in Prague, study a University of Arizona degree online and have the opportunity to spend a full semester at the University of Arizona’s main campus.
