Design brief, specification and location Design brief My property I will be designing will be a modern holiday home with leisure that attracts people. And the property will be aimed at people who have come on a holiday as it will suit their requirements. They will be able to rent the property for their holiday. The property will be in a private space so that people have space to themselves without much disturbance from others. Also my property will be inspired by the falling waters as well. And people wouldn’t need to go to other places to go and have as they will swimming pools and other leisure stuff with the property. Also my modern holiday home will be influenced by 2-3 different architects. I will also be making sure that my Modern holiday home regenerates the location I am going to work with.
Specification Modern holiday home with leisure that has a minimal impact on the environment. My client has asked me to regenerate a private space that contains a lot of greenery and trees around it as it will make the building more attractive and the building will have holiday house features, so that that space becomes more known to other people. Also the property has to be in a private area where its quite so that people can relax without any disturbance. That client has ask for the space to be big as it will need to contain a lot of activity spaces. The property must have: • Outdoor swimming pool • Children's play area • Gym • Sauna room • Relaxing area • Car parking space
Location This location is in Shrewsbury. Plot 1 is considered suitable for commercial uses including retail, medical, showroom, restaurant, trade counter, offices, hotel, etc. and this plot is approximately 2.85 acres. Plot 2 is considered suitable for residential use and totals approximately 1.4 acres. The commercial land has shopping centres next to it and it is also close to the town centre wo that the people would be able to do their shopping and would also be able to buy their holiday souvenirs from there. I will be using plot 1 as I would need to be able to have a outdoor swimming pool and relaxing area. I would also need car parking space for the people to park their cars also need space for children’s out door play area so that they don’t get bored during their holiday.
Regeneration These are some of the places that have been regenerated to make that’s areas more known and it also increases the economy of that area go up. Also this attracts more people to come and visit the place more.
Secondary research of modern holiday home Plan view of the Secular Retreat House.
Secular Retreat accommodates up to ten guests in five bedrooms, each with ensuite bathroom. Designed around the landscape of its hilltop setting, the house with it's rammed concrete walls, has a mass and scale characteristic of timeless ecclesiastical architecture. And this building is in South Devon is one of the most famous of English holiday regions. It offers ample opportunities to walk, sail, surf, windsurf, fish, ride and play golf. In the holiday season, there are craft markets, open air theatres and choral concerts, while out to sea one can see porpoises, dolphins and whales. And this will attract more people to come a spend the holiday there due to the fact that the area has lots of activities for them to do.
This modern holiday home is in the country side. Where they have regenerated the empty space to make that area more popular as people will be able to come for holiday regularly.
This is another sketch I have done to show the whole building from a different angle.
This is an elevation sketch of the Secular Retreat
Secondary research of modern holiday houses MVRDV’s Balancing Barn, however, is not an ordinary holiday house – it’s a Living Architecture house. Set up by Swiss writer Alain de Botton, his wife Charlotte and Mark Robinson, Living Architecture’s built products must not only serve up comfy bed and board to its holidaying punters, but also provocation. They must encourage the general public to reconsider their perspective on both modern architecture and the countryside. This holiday house has been influenced by the falling water as it has similar properties as the falling water. Then Balancing Barn can be rented out for holidays.
Secondary research of modern holiday home: Balancing Barn This is the secret door to enter/exit the house.
This is an quick sketch of the side of the building I have done to see what it looks like from the side and I have also drawn the table for sense of scale. This is one of the modern holiday houses I looked at for inspiration for my own modern holiday house for people to rent. I have drawn the plan and elevation views so that it is easier to see what is the building actually looks like.
This is an plan view of the Balancing Barn roof.
Grillagh Water House
This is a sketch of the plan view of the roof of the Grillagh Water house. And this building also has a swimming pool out side for people to swim and enjoy them selves. This is a plan drawing of the interior of This is a drawing of the interior of the the ground floor. As you can see that the top floor. And this part of the building layout of this building is very simple has less rooms but the rooms are which make this building more attractive. bigger then the ground floor rooms.
Patrick Bradley has designed his unique bespoke dwelling set within Northern Irelands Rural Countryside Woodland. The original budget of the home was ÂŁ100,000, but the final cost of the build went up to ÂŁ133,000.
Grillagh Water House Stair case
For some of the elevation views I have added colour to it to show what the building actually looks like.
I have sketched these elevation view of the Grillagh Water House to show how the building looks all around. And the different types of features it may contain. This
building was made at a low cost which is an bonus and the building is very attractive and environmentally friendly.
This is an elevation view that shows one of the entrance to the house. And I have also added people and trees for a sense of scale.
John Pawson John Pawson born 1949, is a British architectural designer whose work is known for its minimalist aesthetic. He established his own practice in 1981. His work focuses on ways of ‘approaching fundamental problems of space, proportion, light and materials’ – themes he also explored in his book Minimum(1996). His body of work spans a broad range of scales and typologies, from private houses, sacred commissions, galleries, museums, hotels, ballet sets, yacht interiors and a bridge across a lake. His building structures tend to be made in rural locations as they would help boost the economy of that location.

‘It was never just about painting everything white, I set out to create comfortable spaces - visually comfortable spaces. My mind always feels a little scrambled, so being in simple rooms helps me to think straight.’ ‘Architecture isn't just about creating new buildings, sometimes its about retuning what's already there.’ ‘I love clear spaces. I love the absolute minimum’
John Pawson: life house Life House has been designed by John Pawson as a place for calm and reflection. Located in mid Wales, near the town of Llanbister, it is a timeless example of architectural simplicity and beauty based on the concept of a retreat, where serenity, contemplation and restoration are foremost. The building has beautiful and remote setting amidst the rolling Welsh hills, with many outdoor activities nearby. Large open-plan internal spaces with extensive gardens to sit and enjoy. Also this house is superbly crafted with many classic and bespoke pieces of furniture and design. This building can fit up to six guests of all ages looking for the perfect holiday setting, with extraordinary views of the surrounding location.
These are some of the drawings I have drawn of the different perspectives of the ‘life house’. So that I know hoe the building look all around. And how it fits its rural location.

Frank Lloyd Wright Frank Lloyd Wright (born on the 8th of June, 1867 – and died on the 9th of April, 1959) was an American architect, interior designer, writer, and educator, who designed more than 1,000 structures, 532 of which were completed. Wright believed in designing structures that were in harmony with humanity and its environment, a philosophy he called organic architecture. This philosophy was best exemplified by Fallingwater (1935), which has been called "the best all-time work of American architecture". Wright was the pioneer of what came to be called the Prairie School movement of architecture. In addition to his houses, Wright designed original and innovative offices, churches, schools, skyscrapers, hotels, museums, and other structures. He often designed interior elements for these buildings, as well, including furniture and stained glass.

‘’The Frank Lloyd Wright fans. Undoubtedly. Why? Because they're on the side of Nature, and the other fans are on the side of an artificiality that is doomed. Do you believe it? I do.’’ ‘‘I'd like to have a free architecture, I'd like to have architecture that belonged where you see it standing, and as a grace to the landscape instead of a disgrace.’’ ‘’Because in the one instance you are inspired by nature, and the other instance you are inspired by an artificiality contrary to nature.’’ ‘’The good building is not one that hurts the landscape, but one which makes the landscape more beautiful than it was before the building was built.’’ ‘’Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you
Secondary research of holiday houses: The Falling Water Falling water is a house designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1935 in rural south-western Pennsylvania. The house was built partly over a waterfall on Bear Run in the Mill Run section of Stewart Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. The house was designed as a weekend home for the family of Liliane Kaufmann and her husband, Edgar J. Kaufmann. Today, Falling water is open to the public as a museum and is designated as a National Historic Landmark and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Treasure. The house is surrounded by trees as it was build on a water fall where there are lots of rocks.
Secondary research of holiday houses: The Falling Water
These are some of the pictures I have taken of the model I made of the falling water. And I have also done a detailed drawing of the falling water where I have added colours to it so that it stands out more and it gives us a sense of what it look like in real life.
Secondary research of holiday houses: The Falling Water I have added trees and human drawings for the sense of scale of the building
These are some of the drawings I did of the falling water as it is one of the building I'm looking at for inspiration. As the falling water in inspired by the nature. Also the falling water doesn’t harm the environment like other buildings.
I have drawn front side elevations and plan view so that I know what the building looks like all around.
Zaha Hadid Zaha Hadid (born on the 31st October 1950 – and died on the 31st March 2016) was an Iraqi-British architect. She was the first woman to receive the Pritzker Architecture Prize, in 2004. She received the UK's most prestigious architectural award, the Stirling Prize, in 2010 and 2011. In 2012, she was made a Dame by Elizabeth II for services to architecture, and in 2015 she became the first and only woman to be awarded the Royal Gold Medal from the Royal Institute of British Architects. Zaha Hadid’s pioneering vision redefined architecture for the 21str century and captured imaginations across the glob. Each of her projects transformed notions of what can be achieved in concrete, steel, and glass; combining her unwavering optimism for the future and belief in the power of invention with advanced design, material and construction innovations. She was described as the "Queen of the curve", who "liberated architectural geometry, giving it a whole new expressive identity". And her major works include the aquatic centre for the London 2012 Olympics, Michigan State University's Broad Art Museum in the US, and the Guangzhou Opera House in China.

The museum is devoted to mountain history and also offers unique views of the great mountain walls of the Dolomites and the Alps. The museum building was designed by Zaha Hadid.
Modern holiday home
Base of the building sits on top of these pillars
Modern holiday home These are some of the buildings I looked at as my research of modern holiday homes.
This is an hill top modern holiday home where half of the house is under ground.
This is an one floor modern holiday home. But has bigger rooms and more space for the people to enjoy their holiday. I have used chalk for the windows, trees, sun light and for the ground to make the drawings look more attractive and it also makes it easy for the people to understand what is what. I have drawn these drawings of these building as they are very unique and they standout more then other buildings. I have added trees to show the scene of scale, so that I roughly know how big the building is compared to other buildings.
This building has different floor levels
Modern houses with solar panels We all know that solar energy is an unlimited renewable energy source that doesn’t produce CO2 emissions or other gases, because it doesn’t consume fuel or require other resources, such as water or wind. This is one aspect that makes it one of the most interesting systems for producing energy from the environmental perspective. Advantages of Solar Energy • Renewable Energy Source • Reduces Electricity Bills • Diverse Applications • Low Maintenance Costs • Technology Development • Impact on the Environment
These are some drawings of houses that have solar panels on them. Also these houses have minimal impact on the environment as you are using renewable energy resources. Also they wouldn’t harm the environment and they a cheaper to get compared to fossils fuels that are near extinction.
Solar Panels
Houses on pillars Houses on pillars can be seen in a variety of forms worldwide. New about them are the innovative and diverse ways in which they are being designed and built. Theses are some of the benefits of having houses on pillars: • They can built on an unstable foundation • They can built on a steep coastal site • They maximize views Pillars used to • Ventilate underneath the house maximize the views • Enhance sustainable design for the people. • Protect against floods • Environment friendly • Easy Home Improvement • Lifetime Foundation • Classic Style • Build on water
Pillars These are some of the drawings of modern houses that are on pillars as they have minimal impact on the environment. Also these houses can broken apart and lifted to another place.
Pillars used to protect the house from flood.
Leisure These are some of the benefits of having leisure and out door activities when your on holiday or when your living your normal life: • Enhance the Immune System • Improve Flexibility Example of a roof top gym • Improve Memory with relaxing area for people to exercise and relax also to • Reduce stress enjoy the view. • Improve self esteem • Better Quality Sleep
These are some drawings I did using different pen thickness of the leisure activities and relaxing areas.
Man- made Primary research and there drawings
These are some of the primary research I did so that I can use them and get ideas from them to create designs for my building. I have chosen these four primary pictures as they have different levels and texture that makes them stand out more the other pictures. Also these primary research pictures relate to nature and they don’t effect the environment or other objects or building materials.
Model drawings
This is another building model I have looked at to help me with my design idea inspiration. I have chosen this design ideas due to the fact that this building model is very unique and the building is environmental friendly.
Traditional cabin form
Splits and twists appear
Forms shift, slide and sink
Model drawings This building design idea is very unique because when you look at the building from the plan view you only see different sizes of rectangles. Also this building will have lots of space inside as this building has lots of parts to it. This can be perfect for a modern holiday home as the people might need lots of space.
These are some of the sketches I have drawn and some were done using Sketch Up so that I can get a rough idea of what the building will actually will look like if it was made in real life.
Model drawings
This building is designed to fit any purposes. As this building has three parts to it you can separate each of the building part for its own purpose that fits the design specification. Also this building is very unique as its different to other building designs and stands out more compared to other buildings. Also the building will be sitting on top of pillars so that the building is environmentally friendly.
Model drawings This design model would not fully be perfect for my modern holiday home as this design isn’t as environment friendly as other design ideas. This design will not be suitable for my modern holiday house as my design specification will not fit this design idea. And this building design doesn't have much space for car parking, kids play area and other out door leisure activities for the people.
These are some of the sketches I have produced of a hill top modern holiday house. For some of the drawings I have added some color to it so that I have a rough idea on what the building will look like in real life.
This modern holiday home has four floors which weans that different floors can be used for different purposes.
Interior drawings
This in an plan view of the ground floor. This sketch also shows that there’s an relaxing area outside and inside.
Top floor interior drawing to see how an modern holiday home’s layout looks like and how it may impact the target audience. Also I have used thick and thin line to show the thickness of the walls.
I have added trees and people to the sketches for a sense of scale of the actual building.
This is the plan view of the roof that I have sketched so you can get a rough idea of what the building looks like from the top and see its surroundings.
Interior drawings
This is another building interior floor plan I have sketched and the sketch also shows the length of each wall and so that we can have an rough idea of how big the scale of this building is. I have also made some sketches of the different elevation views. This modern holiday home is simple but still attractive due to its design being inspired by its surrounding location.
Design Idea 1 This is how I got my design ideas from from one of my primary picture.
I created this model using cardboard to see what my design idea would look if it was actually made.
Design Idea 1 development
I have to change my previous design idea as it was a bit too simple. Also the building wouldn’t stand out as much as the building design doesn't have different floor levels.
I have developed the previous design to make the building more attractive as I have been inspired by this primary picture I have taken. The three buildings will be altogether so that the people will be able to use staircase to go up instead of using a footpath to go to the other building. This can be a hassle at night times.
Design Idea 1 development I created these sketches of the model using sketch up. I have done these sketches in this style as I would be able to see more of the details then a normal model sketch that may not have as much detail to it. I have changed the design as the previous design was a bit too simple and it didn’t suit by specification as much as this design does.
I have added railings to this model for health and safety of the people that are going to live there. The relaxing area will be on the roof as the people will be able to enjoy the view of the area around them from the roof. I will also have to top roof floor for roof top gym, so that the people can enjoy there workout and enjoy the view.
Design Idea 1 final
This is my final development for this design. This design is inspired by the falling water as this design has different floor levels. There are relaxing are on each roof top so that the people can enjoy the view. I have added cars, trees and people for sense of scale of the building compared to human size. I have also added a swimming pool as it is one of the things holiday homes have so that the people can relax and enjoy their holiday.
Design Idea 2 I made this model using plaster casting and this design idea would suit some of my design specification as this building design has has a bit too much of curves. And some of the building parts are very steep for some of my design specification.
This will be the front of the building
This design idea has been inspired by Zaha Hadid’s
On thing about this building design is that it will be hard to have lots of floor levels as this building design is a bit steep.
This building will have three parts to it so that the people can have more space to enjoy their holiday.
Design Idea 2 development
One of the disadvantage of this building design is that I will not be able to have a roof top gym. This space can be used for the relaxing area for the people to enjoy their evening with their family and friends after a long day of having fun. Also this space would be a perfect space for a relaxing area as it is surrounded by all the tree buildings.
I have developed my previous design as the building design doesn’t meet all the specification for my holiday building. I have taken these shapes from the building design to create a better design and change the layout of the building.
This building has different floor levels which makes it more attractive then a normal building that doesn't have many levels.
These are some of the are some of the draw and pictures of the building design from different angle to see what the building looks like all around.
Design Idea 2 development This is a walk way for the people so that they can walk to the other part of the building site. This walk way will have a roof over it so that the people don’t get wet when it rains.
This is where the roof top gym will be as the people will be able to workout in fresh air. Also I will need to make sure that this area is covered at night time so that if it rains or anything the gym equipment will not get ruined.
I have changed my previous design to this design as my previous design didn’t suit my specification as much. But on the other hand one thing about this design is that it’s a bit too simple, which means that it may not stand out as much. Plan view
This building will be sitting on top of pillars so that the building doesn’t harm the environment as much.
Staircase to go to the roof.
This roof top will have solar panels so that the house runs on renewable energy resources, which is safe for the environment.
Design Idea 2 development
I have used taken these two shapes and modified it and combined them together to make this shape so that I can use it for my development and make my design idea more appealing.
I have taken this shape and modified it from my previous design idea as it was a bit too simple and it doesn’t standout as much as I thought it would.
I have taken this shape and modified it to this shape so that I can use these shapes for my development from the previous design idea.
I have combined these shapes to make this new design idea as a part of my development for my previous design idea. My new design idea will have different parts that make up the building. And this new design for my modern holiday home will suit all the needs that’s in the design brief and specification. And this new design idea will suit the idea of regeneration of my location that I have chosen for my modern holiday home.
Design Idea 2 development Plan view
Side elevation view to show the scale of the building design. And also to show the different floor levels of the building design. This is where I am going to have the solar panels to this part of the building as its roof is higher then the other parts.
In these drawings you can see that I have added the railing so that the people are safe and out of danger.
This building will have two different roof top so that I could have a roof top gym and a relaxing area for the people.
Plan view of the people to show their sense of scale compared to the building.
I will have have the staircase and a lift so that the people can access the roof top.
Design Idea 2 development This is the back of the building. And I will be having 2 double glass doors so that people can access the back and enjoy the views from the back of the building. Also the people will have to use these doors to have access to the swimming pool as the swimming pool will be at the back of the building. I have made sure that both sides of the building has windows so that the people don’t miss any of the views of the location and can enjoy them selves. Also the middle part of the building will be of 2 floors so that the people have enough space for the privacy.
This will be the front of my modern holiday house. Where I have added the doors for the entrance. I have also added windows on the front of the building so that the people can enjoy the views of the location from the front.
Design Idea 2 final These are some of pictures from different angles of this final outcome of this design idea that I have created using Sketch Up design.
This is my final outcome for this design idea. I have used Sketch Up to create this model as I could add all the details of this design idea. And it also gives us a sense of what the building would look like in real life as it contains color,
This is the plan view of my final outcome for this design idea.
Design Idea 3
I came up with this design idea by sketching things that where around me such as rocks, and other materials. I have combined these shapes to make a building site for my modern holiday home. This design will have a lot of space so that the people can have their own space and freedom during the holiday break. This design idea is influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright as he his building structures tend to have different floor levels and they tend to be in different sizes as well. I have done this sketch using Sketch Up design so that I get a rough idea of what the building will look like from a perspective view. Front view
Back view
Design Idea 3 development The areas that are colored in black, is where I'm am going to to solar panels on so that my building runs on renewable energy resources. Which will make my modern holiday house building more sustainable compared to other holiday homes.
This is where I am going to have my roof top gym and relaxing area. I have done these sketches using Sketch Up design. This will give me a rough idea of what the building will look like when its made. This building design give me an option to make each different building part to have it own specific job i.e. rest room, and rooms for other family activities. This will give the people more space to have fun with their family and friends and allow big families or big groups of friends live live in here and enjoy their holiday.
Design Idea 3 development I have created this model using Sketch Up design to see what my design idea will look like when its made. I have added people and trees to so some sense of scale, so that I get a rough idea on how big the building is compared to the human scale. I have also added features like swimming pool, children's playground area and car park and color so that I can see if my design for my modern holiday house actually looks attractive and unique compared to other holiday houses.
Design Idea 3 development To create this shape I have combines the small blue colored shape and the small green shape together for my new design idea.
Plan view of the building design idea.
This is my design idea 2 and I have colored some of the shapes of it so that I can use these colored shapes to create a new shape and use it for a new design idea. This is the big blue colored shape that I have rotated clock wise to create this new shape for my improved design idea. And I have also changed the shape a bit as well to get a more unique shape that will suit most of my specifications. I have used the two green colored shapes to create a new shape so that I could use it for my development of this design idea.
I have developed this design idea by using the shapes from the previous design for my modern holiday house. I have used some of the shapes from the previous design and have also added few more shaped to make this design idea. For my modern holiday house.
Design Idea 3 development These are some of the sketches I have done using Sketch up so that I can see how the exterior of this design idea. Also it these perspective and façade drawing will allow me to see the scale of the building.
I have made sure that this design idea is inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s Falling Water. I have done this by making sure that this design idea different floor levels so that the design idea doesn’t look too simple.
This modern holiday home will have a roof top swimming pool

Design Idea 3 final
These are some of the pictures of the exterior of this design idea that I created using Sketch Up. I have added trees and people to shoe sense of scale of the buildings also this will give me a rough idea of what the building will look like when its made.
Final model development This is the plan view drawing of the interior of modern holiday home.
I have also added the stuff my modern holiday home will contain such as gym equipment's, kitchen equipment's and many more stuff that will attract my modern holiday home. I have also made sure that my modern holiday home as a lots of windows so that the people are able to see the outside views from inside the house. I have also have made sure that there are not too many double doors as it may end up being a bit useless and it wouldn’t make the building stand out too much id there are too many double doors on the outside.
This is the plan view drawing of the roof of my modern holiday home. I will also have benches on the roof top so the people can enjoy the holiday properly and this will allow them to see the views of the surrounding locations. This modern holiday home will have a swimming pool on the roof and you will be able to cover the swimming pool when its not in use so that the water doesn’t get dirty. Also I have added solar panels to my modern holiday home so the the modern holiday home runs on renewable resources. I have added solar panels to my building as my building it for regeneration of a unused location with the building having minimal impact on the environment.

Final model (ARCHICAD)
These are some of the pictures of my final model for my modern holiday home. I have rendered my model so that I can get a realistic view of my model.
This is my final design idea for my modern holiday home mostly inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright. I have chosen this design idea as my final design because of the fact that this design suits my brief and specification. This design idea is also very unique and attractive compared to other buildings and holiday homes within that specific location.

Final physical model These are some of the images of the modern holiday home physical model from different perspectives showcasing the surrounding location and the feature of the building. Also these images show the sense of scale of the building model compared to the people, so that if this building was actually constructed then this is what the size of the building will be compared to the people.
Design brief After getting my feedback for my modern holiday home from my client. My client has decided to add a pavilion to my modern holiday home which will help regenerate the chosen rural location more. The pavilion will allow the people to have more space for extra activities so that they can enjoy there holiday even more
Specification My client has asked for the modern holiday home and the pavilion to be together in the same rural location. And I have to make sure that my pavilion design idea is inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright and Zaha Hadid. The design idea for the pavilion has to suit the location and must help boost the economy of the location.
What is a Pavilion? In architecture, a pavilion has several meanings. In architectural terminology it refers to a subsidiary building that is either positioned separately or as an attachment to a main building. Often its function makes it an object of pleasure. Also pavilions can be used as an outdoor public space for the people to enjoy there lunch breaks or have fun with their friends. Most of the pavilion designs are inspired by the nature and tends to be very unique compared to other design around it.
The Serpentine Sackler gallery These are some of the drawings of the Serpentine Sackler gallery and its pavilion that was designed by Zaha Hadid. This building is an perfect example of combining two styles old and new design ideas together to create an unique and innovative design. This pavilion design idea that Zaha Hadid designed was inspired by the nature like most of her work. This design idea resembles the sea waves.
This is as plan view of the Serpentine Sackler gallery which show use how the building structure looks from the birds eye view. And this plan drawing shows us that this pavilion is attached to the building but most pavilions tend to not be attached to the building. This pavilion is mostly covered in glass which can be very beneficial as when it rain people can stay inside and will not be effected by the rain. Also having glass can make the some pavilions more attracted to the human eye.
Pavilion design I have changed the design by twisting the wire to create a new design for pavilion.
This is one of the design idea I have come up with for my pavilion. I have come up with this design idea by bending wire around to create this shape.
Design inspired by triangles.
I have changed the design further more by twisting the wire to create a new design for pavilion.
Different views of the pavilion.
Front view of the pavilion.
This pavilion design is very unique due to its unusual shapes.
Pavilion design development
This is a rough plan of what my final model may look like without making the building properly. I have done this to see roughly where my pavilion may go and how the building may look.
Pavilion design development This pavilion will have space at the top for the people to go and enjoy the extortionary views of the surrounding location of the modern holiday home. And for people to access this area there will be a stair case the people can use to go to the top. And also there will be a resting area at the bottom as well.
I have developed this pavilion design further more by adding walls to the pavilion. I have added wall to this pavilion design as the pavilion looked too open without any walls which may not be attractive to people. Also when the pavilion has some walls it will allow the people to have some kind of a privacy .
Pavilion design final
Pavilion design final
This is my final design for the pavilion which I have decided to make. I have added people to this pavilion model to show a sense of scale of the structure compared to the sizes of the people. And this pavilion has two floor levels for the people to go and enjoy their time and the surrounding views of the location. Which makes this pavilion design very attractive but on the other hand this may not look attractive due to the way of how the staircase is.
Final physical model These are some of the pictures showing my final physical model of the modern holiday home with a pavilion. I have made sure that I have taken the picture from different perspectives to show the different features of the building model. And this model really came out well as it look really attractive and will definitely catch a lot of peoples eye.
Pavilion design final These are some of the picture that show what the holiday home looks like with the pavilion and also some of the views show the sense of scale of the buildings compared to the people and trees.
Evaluation To come up with design ideas for my modern holiday home I have done a design brief and a design specification that will help me come up with the design ideas. Also to come up with design ideas that suit the design specification I have made sure that I have done some researches on different types of features my modern holiday home might have like sauna, swimming pool, gym etc. I have also done research on different architects and looked at their buildings as a inspiration for my design ideas. And out of all the design ideas for my modern holiday home I have chosen to pick design idea 3 as my final design as my modern holiday home due to the fact that this design idea is the most attractive and suits the design specification the best out of all the design ideas. Also this design idea that I have chosen is as my final doesn’t harm the environment as much as the other design ideas might have as the house will have solar panels on the roof of the buildings so that the house runs on renewable energy resources. Another reason why I have chosen this design idea a my final is because of the fact that this design idea has 3 different buildings so that each building has its own purpose like ones for gym and sauna and ones for resting area and kitchen and the other one is the main one where all the bedrooms game rooms etc. This allows the people to have more room for themselves and enjoy their privacy. Also the addition of the pavilion adds a bit more attraction to the modern holiday home. Also having the pavilion there allows the people to have a bit more space to enjoy the views from out side. Overall I think this design idea has met the specifications that was set for the modern holiday home. And if I was to make this model again I will make sure that I scale up the building size so that I can add some interior to the final model so that you can see the interior of the modern holiday home from the outside of the building. Also I will make sure that I do not rush making the pavilion and take my time when making it.
