THE TRADITIONAL ARCHITECTURE Alentejo, has great architectural richness, such as the cities of Elvas and Évora that are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Among all these treasures, one cannot forget the typical houses, which have remained over time and that shape the landscape.

It was the populations that created this architectural style, fundamentally with a practical function: welcoming families and keeping them in the warm environment.

The presence of the Arabs in the Iberian peninsula from 710 left unimaginable shrews in this Portuguese region. They influenced elements of this type of construction. Most Alentejo cakes and pastries have conventual origin, having as main ingredients sugar, eggs, bread, milk, cheese, curd, cinnamon, almond, but secrets remain in sacred hands, passed down from generation to generation.
