THE ALGARVE

Faro (capital of the Algarve) as one International airport, which also has the advantage of being centrally located. COVID-19 Entry restrictions for Portugal

Returning to the UK Portugal, including the Azores, is on the amber list for entering England. Madeira is on the green list for entering England. Check what you must do to enter England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.
TESTING REQUIREMENT
All airline passengers to the United States, including U.S. citizens, ages two years and older must provide a negative COVID-19 viral test taken within three calendar days of travel. Alternatively, travelers to the U.S. may provide documentation from a licensed health care provider of having recovered from COVID19 in the 90 days preceding travel.
