01 RURAL STUDIO
ANGNAWADI AND WOMANS INDUSTRIAL UNIT
The studio explored the earth as a medium for construction. The project explores how rammed earth walls benefit Anganwadi centres. How materials help reduce construction costs and create employment opportunities for local communities. How good thermal mass, and other properties of rammed earth are used to regulate indoor temperature and reduce the need for air conditioning or heating.
Porous materials like bamboo and clay tiles are used for roofing and wall cladding, allowing for natural air circulation and daylight penetration. These materials explore how energy consumption for lighting and ventilation can be done while creating a healthy and comfortable indoor environment for children.
The plan was formed from the idea of having Three levels each for an activity separated and connected using stairs and plinth
Structures with limited or private functions, like the infirmary and washrooms, are more solid, and the other public functions, such as the 'Anganwadi,' are open to the surroundings.
Levels connecting these plinths were later incorporated into the Angan wadi to bring playfulness and connectivity to the structure vegetation was also introduced inside the Anganwadi for the kids to interact more with nature.

COMMUNITY HOUSING FOR POTTERS
The project is to devleop housing for potters of pottery townwhich is a traditional settlement of potters and other craftsmen
The idea is to create a living and working environment tailored to potters' specific needs. Housing units that are designed to include both living space and a pottery studio. The goal is to create a space where potters can live and work in close proximity, allowing for a stronger sense of community and collaboration.
Another idea is to create a shared workspace where potters can come together to create their work. This might include a communal pottery studio with shared kilns, wheels, and other equipment.

ADAPTIVE REUSE
RESTAURANT AND AUTOMATED MEAT MARKET
The project attempts to repurpose an old abandoned building called “cold storage” in Jayanagar, Bengaluru. The building has been abandoned for about 10+ Years and was earlier used to house a bank and a cold storage. The building structure is a voluminous space precast structure with concrete walls. However, the building is decadent, and parts of the roof are damaged. The project aims to repurpose the space into a marketplace and add a restaurant to make the building more lively. This is done by creating an automated modern meat market that reduces waste generation. The hotel is designed to open a view to the street and thus invite people in. A mezzanine floor is added using the support of existing columns to create a performance space. The cutouts and insertions done in the building will make the place more appealing. Surrounded by the Old modernist buildings of Jayanagar, this forgotten building will add a new landmark for the community and create a vibrant space.
03
Incorporating Social spaces into the design of the site would enhance the ambience of the whole place and Increase user count, reviving the lost character of the Jayanagar market.
The lack of street lights on the 10th main road makes this place dark and unsafe at night, so adding street lights and more social infrastructure will bring in the crowd and make the street active.
The addition of a metro line has increased accessibility, and the popularity of the Jayanagar shopping markets has made the area a commercial hub. Only three meat shops cater to the whole residence cluster, and no new types of restaurants are popping up.

URBAN DESIGN
RESTORING DECADENT PARKS OF VARANASI
The project attempts to change the 4 locations near Assi ghat of Varanasi. The park is well-lit with clear sightlines and discourages hiding places. Accessibility is considered through features such as level paths and ramps, which help women of all ages and abilities, including those with strollers, mobility issues, or other special needs. Comfortable seating areas are provided for socializing. Play areas for children are made visible from seating areas, and amenities such as restrooms, drinking fountains, and trash cans are made available. Incorporating natural elements such as trees, flowers, and gardens can enhance the experience of the park. Designing a park for women involves prioritizing safety, accessibility, comfort, and amenities to create a welcoming and enjoyable space for all.
During the day, many women are out and about in Kashi Khand, chatting, walking. But when the sun sets, they disappear. They return to the safety of their homes. The concept for this place is to transition this place where they can hang out for no apparent reason, but simply because they want to.
1.DUMRAON
a place where mothers can leave their children safely and go places without having to worry about their safety

4.NEW GHAT Connection to the newly proposed ghats
3.ASSI CANAL Women are usually responsible for fetching water. This can be a dangerous, time-consuming and physically demanding task. The long walks, often more than once a day, can mean that women are forced to spend more time doing this instead of earning an income or going to school.
2.KASHI KHAND
PARK
PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES
Create opportunities for community members to use the space for events and activities, such as concerts, outdoor movie nights, or fitness classes. This can foster a sense of ownership by giving residents a stake in the space's success. A new pavement is added which extends from the walls to the buildings which acts as an extension of the park
CONSIDERING ACCESSIBILITY
Ensure that the space is accessible and welcoming to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. This can include providing seating areas, accessible pathways, and ample lighting to create a safe and inviting environment.Remove existing walls and gates which makes accessibility an issue and create blind spots
FOSTERING A SENSE OF OWNERSHIP
Incorporate elements into the design that promote a sense of ownership, such as community gardens, public art projects, or interactive installations. Giving opportunity for the children in the community to get together. Walls with greeneries which act as barriers between park and surroundings.

"When you own something, it has meaning and you take care of it. I think that's the great part about public space. If we can build ownership with the community, then you have engagement and very enjoyable spaces."
KASHI KHAND
Removal of the existing building that divides the maidan into two and make it porous. Repurposing of the kund and the trees which exist around the site
The existing building which seperates kashi kandh is redesigned to be a cultural point and act as a gateway to the jagannathmandir temple. The design is open and porous and borrows from the existing vernacular shapes
