Remarks from ABI President Jeffrey N. Pomerantz. From Jeffery N. Pomerantz’s address at the 2016 Annual Spring Meeting: I first became involved with ABI approximately 20 years ago. ABI was a lot different then. Under the leadership of Sam Gerdano and a tremendous, ever-changing body of volunteer leaders, ABI has become the leading professional organization in the restructuring field. That is not to say that ABI does not face challenges. The profession is aging and people are retiring, and there have not been as many young professionals choosing the restructuring field over the last 10 years. The bench is evolving as well, and the practice has undergone tectonic changes. Grooming young professionals to be ABI’s future leaders, encouraging some of our newer judges to become active in ABI, and finding a way to reach out to those in our profession who have not previously

been exposed to ABI are themes that ABI will continue to focus on in the near future, and I am glad to be a part of that effort.
