QMS STANDARDS

3.0 PROCEDURE (SOP OR WI STEPS) 3.1 WHAT IS SCORM? SCORM - Sharable Content Object Reference Model - is a collection of standards and specifications for web-based electronic educational technology (also called eLearning). It defines communications between client side content and a host system (called the "run-time environment"), which is commonly supported by a learning management system. Within TLS, the SCORM file version currently being used is 2.1. For an update on versioning information, please click this link via abmlq.com: http://www.abmlq.com/wiabm1515a 3.2 WHEN DO WE USE SCORM FILES? SCORM Files are used or required in the production of training courses within TLS in the instances listed below: 

Leveraging third party content In certain areas where compliance training is more effectively produced by third party content providers and mitigates exposure to risk for the organization, SCORM files are required from the third party content provider in order to publish the course content in TLS.

Leveraging a course content packaging program; for example: Camtasia Training courses that include video content produced using a media packaging program like Camtasia, SCORM files are used to publish the content in TLS.

See Section 3.3 below on the steps for managing SCORM files for either uses. 3.3 STEPS TO MANAGING AND USING SCORM FILES 3.3.1 STEP
