rinbago’s songstress Patrice Roberts is in full preparation mode for her first solo concert ‘Strength Of A Woman.’ The concert which is scheduled to take place Under the Trees at The Normandie Hotel, St. Ann’s, Trinidad on Thursday 28th February 2019 is an opportunity for the artiste to share her journey in an intimate setting. After carefully planning with her team, Patrice now feels fully prepared to create a space where she can share her entire catalog of
music, past and present. In her first attempt, intimacy is paramount for her, hence the venue selection. Competing in a male dominated industry has been no easy task for Patrice. However, she has managed to develop a successful career using obstacles and experiences as lessons and guides to further develop herself and craft. The theme ‘Strength of A Woman’ is a representation of Patrice’s growth in the entertainment industry and as a woman.
Patrice who is understandably excited about her performance at ‘Strength of a Woman’ understands the involvement of her supporters in her journey; "I feel as though’ I grew up in the public’s eye. ET&T PARROW’S ‘SA SA YEA’ GETS 2019 IDRUM UPDATE NEWS I
n an era where the Calypso genre is losing some of its biggest musical icons, a team of musical professionals & enthusiasts hailing from Dominica, St. Vincent, St. Lucia, Trinidad, Barbados and North-America is paying homage to the legendary singer, The Mighty Sparrow with an updated 2019 version of the Calypsonian’s 1969 hit ‘Sa Sa Yea’ just in time for the 2019 Carnival season. The aptly titled ‘iDRUM Sa Sa Yea (2019 Version)’ was conceptualised by Dominican-born, Toronto-based international artist Davidson Elie, known by the industry names dCONCEPT and iDRUM (an art performance concept). iDRUM blends the talents of drummers, DJs, instrumentalists, dancers and vocalists and fuses live and recorded original House music with Afro Caribbean and World elements. This 2019 version of iDRUM Sa Sa Yea connects the elements
of pre 1980’s Calypso, modern Soca and original House Music, with live vocals, authentic Creole language components, Afro-Caribbean percussion, saxophone, steel pan. For this track, Davidson partnered with famed House DJ/ Producer Gene King of Shines Recordings. Gene was able to create an interesting palate of musical flavours. Alongside Davidson & Gene, a team of diligent creatives came together and pooled individual skills and resources to deliver this contemporary reboot and tribute to the ‘Birdie’ The collective of creatives behind ‘iDRUM Sa Sa Yea’ include:
- Davidson Elie (Conceptualization, Co-Production, Co-Writer, Percussion), Gene King (Production, Arrangement, Mastering), Susan Grogan (Main Vocals), Damian Sogren (Male Vocals/ Co-Writer), Anderson Phillips (Pan), Paul Knight (Saxophone), Tej Hunjan (Studio Recording/ Engineering) with Co-Production by Ronny Charlemagne, Royalty De Goddess & Keith Pascall. This 2019 ‘Island House’ restyle of The Mighty Sparrow’s classic Sa Sa Yea has thus far received positive feedback from music fans and industry insiders as it highlights both cultural and modern influences and links the worlds of Afro-Caribbean, World percus-
sion/instrumentation and Deep House/Electronic music. The team members behind this project recognize the sociopolitical relevance of the music by veteran artistes like Sparrow and his contemporaries and respect the diversity of rhythms used by current hit-makers e.g. T&T’s Machel Montano and Bunji Garlin and St. Vincent’s Dynamite. According to Davidson, “The goal here is to get iDRUM Sa Sa Yea to the masses during the upcoming 2019 festival season, while bridging the cultural gap between Calypso and House Music with this catchy Island House hybrid.” To view the official music video for ‘iDRUM Sa Sa Yea’ on YouTube, use the link: https://youtu. be/CnPMgkF2fnE The iDRUM Sa Sa Yea 2019 version is available for download in Wav format at https://we.tl/twArVHqXA4C and MP3 format at https://we.tl/t-9zzD4aaDWL (MP3). ST.VINCENT, WI: “SKINNY FABULOUS CELEBRATES ‘FAMALAY’
FINDING IT’S PLACE ON THE USA ITUNES TOP 100 REGGAE CHARTS” O n January 10th 2019, ‘Famalay’ became the #1 selling song from the Caribbean globally on the iTunes Reggae Top 100 chart. Today, ‘Famalay’ is holding on to the #5 spot which is indicative of the support for the Soca track. While breaking the news on January 10th via his social media channels Skinny addressed the fact that the placement occurred on a Reggae chart by saying “I know this also will provoke the discussion about SOCA not having it's own established genre but until that day comes when we win the good fight for Soca recognition, let's celebrate this #1 on the Reggae Chart or any other chart worldwide for that matter.” When Vincentian Soca artiste Gamal “Skinny Fabulous” Doyle began creating the now 3-way hit collaboration ‘Famalay’ between 2
Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin and himself, the intention was for it to be a single. He was in search of a specific sound, one that would allow him to create a track that would be a representation of various aspects of the Caribbean and its genres. While working with the music which reached his ears

by way of International Stephen from Dominican producer Dada Lawerence, the lyrics he initially penned were done with no one in mind. It was during the process of recording the demo that the idea of a collaboration came to mind. Immediately, he then began creating hooks with both Machel and Bunji in mind. His inspiration came from the way the natives in St Vincent and the Grenadines; in crews and cliques. “When you go to a fete with a crew, everyone has everyone’s back; whether with drinks, food, bathroom breaks and you begin to form a bond like family.” Skinny believes strongly that we are all family when addressing our regional and cultural similarities. The song addresses the need for us to be deliberately blind to colour, race, ethnicity
and social status. It also urges you to eliminate the fear of hugging, jumping up and partying with the person next to you. Garlin’s verse, which was penned by Garlin, discusses that family is not defined by bloodline. The idea that the people who share your bloodline would seek your best interest was dispelled and the fact that those who are around you in many instances may be looking out for you was addressed. Skinny, is no stranger to the entertainment circuit and has been consistently creating some of the most enjoyed music for both himself and other performers. For Trinidad and Tobago’s 2019 Carnival, the artiste has released three other contributions; Happy, Pick Your Position (with Motto) and Bipolar. (Courtesy CreativA Media)
ET&T MICAL TEJA ON THE CUSP OF GREATNESS NEWS ical ‘Teja’ Williams is a burgeoning star who seems ready to break into the mainstream in 2019. Having wrote, sung or produced several songs which are presently on radio rotation we can only expect to see his star shine brighter as time progresses. The “Want” singer spoke with ET&T about his development, expectations and more. Teja’s is a true success story of someone from a depressed community who turned negatives into positives. In fact, the Gonzales native’s very involvement in music was due to one such reversal. “My musical journey began in primary school. I attended Sacred Heart Boys R.C. While attending primary school I was very troublesome and my mother sent
me to guitar classes as a way to calm me down and I just fell in love with music after,” he shared. The entertainer has since added playing piano and drums to his arsenal of instrumental talents. He has used these skills to fine fettle, and is known by most industry insiders as a true triple threat (writer, singer and producer). On which discipline he cherishes the most, he posited: “Singing/performing brings me the most joy… seeing people connect to you and your music firsthand is the greatest feeling ever.” Speaking of feel-good moments, Mical glossed over some of his career highlights. Making the 2017 Soca Monarch semifinals and being crowned 2017 EyeSlam Superstar quickly came to mind. He also found great pleasure in performing at this year’s Soka in Moka fete since Trinity College was his old Secondary School.
This school would no doubt have developed many of his talents. Teja shares that he is an excellent footballer (A Chelsea Fan to booth) and cricket all-rounder. Like most Trinis he also confesses that he would probably have been a comedian in another life and he is an all-out ‘Foodie’. The once troublesome child has grown into a highly expressive and articulate individual who is not afraid to speak out on behalf of the local art forms. When asked what he would
change about our entertainment landscape he did not hesitate to advocate. “I would change the way we promote and treat our culture, I think more emphasis should be placed on building and maintaining the quality of not just carnival, but Trinidad and Tobago’s culture. We are so rich in not just oil and gas, but culture and that can also be a huge revenue stream for our economy.” As far as his personal goals, he is all about building his brand organically to the point where he becomes internationally renowned. Plus, he says a Kerwin Dubois and Machel Montano collaboration wouldn’t hurt. Williams ended the interview with a call for young men and women to be more constructive and proactive with regards ending our current vicious crime cycle. It’s safe to say that ET&T approves and second’s his notion.
he semi-finalists for International Soca Monarch 2019 were announced via the ISM Facebook Page. This year’s competition sees the return of a split between the Groovy and Power-Soca Monarch categories.
Twenty-three semi-finalists were named for the Groovy Soca part of the event, while sixteen participants were named to vie for a place in the Power Soca finals. The Semifinals will return to the Arima Velodrome
and is carded for February 10th. Several of the art form’s more established stars are noticeably absent from this year’s edition which is now being managed by FayAnn LyonsAlvarez. It is believed they want
to give young and upcoming artistes a chance to shine on what was once soca music’s biggest stage. Reigning Monarch Aaron ‘Voice’ St. Lois has also opted not to defend his crown citing similar reasons.

Michael Bolton will headline Tobago Jazz
Tobago Jazz Experience For a more relaxed experience filled with scenic sights, attending the Tobago Jazz experience might be a good idea. In December 2018 it was announced that the Grammy Award-winner Michael Bolton would be one of the headline acts for Tobago Jazz Experience (TJE) 2019. The festival is carded for April 25 – April 28. The announcement was made via the Tobago Festivals Commis-

sion’s Facebook page. It stated: “With 2019 mere days away, how are you supposed to live without your past for the next Tobago Jazz Experience? Here’s some motivation to get you excited and ready! We reveal one of the headline acts for 2019, Grammy Award Winning Musician Michael Bolton.” Chairman of the Commission, George Leacock said that names of other performers, along with the budget for the festival would be announced at a launch sometime this month. In the past the festival was criticized for not being profitable. In an October 2018 plenary, Tourism Secretary Nadine Stewart Phillips told the House that that “$104,000 was spent on Tobago-based artistes, $180,864.79 on the Trinidad based artistes, $560,156 on regional artistes and $3,687,540.49 on international artistes. The total revenue earned from ticket sales was $1,668,600. However, Stewart Phillips also admitted that the Assembly did not venture into the event expecting to turn a profit, but more so to keep the festival alive on a calendar of events. Tickets for this year’s festival are not yet available to purchase on the event’s website. However, those requiring more information can follow the Tobago Festivals page on Facebook. New Fire Festival The New Fire Festival will take place from 12-14 April at Ortinola Estate, St. Joseph and it’s the festival’s 4th year running.
According to one of the festival’s promoters, Gerry Williams, the festival provides the opportunity to experience three days of creativity, beauty, community and ecologically mindful living… with one of the main purposes being to inspire those attending to pursue their sublime potential. Gerry Williams
The past festival has influenced much of the logistics of this year’s event and Williams predicts an even stronger sense of community will be formed post event. Those attending have the option to camp for the weekend and partake in activities involving music, art, yoga, dance, food, craft, play, children’s activities, workshops and so much more. If you would like to purchase passes for this event, you can do so on the New Fire’s website: http:// www.newfireworld.com/passes/ Alternative purchasing options are also presented on the website. Will you be attending any of these events? If so, head over to our Facebook page and let us know. Bonus points if you send us a photo of you and your crew attending the event.

Name: Shania Vincent Age: 20 Hometown: St. Joseph Hobbies: Fashion Designing, Makeup, Sketching, Swimming. Shania Vincent is a head-turner. The Tres Belle model knows how
to work the lens and she has been using her talents to good effect as she continues her ascent in the modelling realm. She has already done an ad - for a Wine Fit Dance Class for Sidelle Wooding – even though she has only been modelling for two years. Her photography portfolio is quite extensive as well, having worked with Joegeofoto, Stoneography, Focus Studios, JPetersimages, Mark Phillip Simpson, Ronaldo Roberts, and Jamzphotography868. The fact that Ms. Vincent has done all of this while balancing an administrative
job with school, shows she possesses the required work ethic to make it in this fickle industry. Shania posits that Rhion Romany is her favourite designer, not only because his style is “outof- the box, bold and unique”, but because “he is a Scorpio like myself.” Riiiight. Apart from the Horoscope thing, we agree that he is dope. Her beauty regime is basic, but sensible. “I have really sensitive skin so I only wash my face with unscented white soap and for pimples if I get any I use Genetics Zinc and Castor Oil Cream. I use
Diquez Coconut Baby Oil everywhere else. I'm really that simple.” As far as keeping in shape, you can thank her mom and dad for that. It’s all natural. “I don't purposely keep in shape. It's just in my genes.” As far as her diet, her lack of a sweet tooth goes a long way as well. “I dislike snacks, sweets, cake, ice cream and chocolate.” Don’t get jealous guys. She’s just been blessed differently than you. However, she still plans for enhancing her features. “I am constantly thinking about going to the gym to get some booty.” Go brave!

CHIT
CHAT
JADEL
is indeed a blessing. I am enjoying and appreciating the challenges as it teaches me new things every day (especially regarding time management and order). I have put things in place for shows and important stuff I have to do.
J
adel Legere has been steadily making her rise up the industry ladder with every new musical release. She made waves in C2K18 with her song Round and Round and she rode that momentum into 2019 with a slew of new releases. In particular, her up-tempo track “Jam Day” is a true winer’s anthem that is sure to get heavy play on the road. ET&T caught up with the beautiful songbird for a chit chat on her career and new role as a mother.
ET&T: What are some of your career accomplishments that people may not know? JADEL: As a little girl. I started singing from shower to finalist in school music festival. Then I went from school choir to taking it professionally as the Frontline singer for bands Surface and Traffic, plus doing weddings and functions. I competed professionally in Soca Monarch winning Break Out Artist and being a finalist. I have also toured parts of the world such as Switzerland, Germany, Spain, England, The US, Canada and certain parts of the Caribbean. I write all my songs and for other artist as well. I have accomplished a lot as well as studied audio engineering and I’m currently studying law.
ET&T: Jam Day is the official gym anthem for 2019. What are your expectations for the song otherwise? JADEL: I would like it to be in the Power Soca Monarch finals, playing on the road; in the fetes and in every power session. ET&T: It has been said “Carnival is woman” and Soca is such a naturally sexy genre. However, the industry still seems to be male-dominated. Why do you think this is? JADEL: More women play mas on the road… almost twenty to one. Sometimes there are 2500 females and only 500 males in a 3000 person band. Women are sexy, but it is male-dominated strictly in the singing part of it. I think the reason is traditionally more male artistes sing soca and the women are only now trying to be a part of it. It’s like how pilots are mostly male and women are now joining. In mas there are more women, but in terms of actually singing soca there are less women. However, the women who come out are holding their own and standing their ground with the help of women like Calypso Rose who paved the way. ET&T: You are featured on the Queens Riddim. As far as your catalogue of music, how far do you
think you are from being hailed the Queen of Soca at any given point? JADEL: I am a queen in my own right in the soca industry... we are all queens. ET&T: In your opinion, what do you bring to the industry that nobody else has? JADEL: I bring the love for the culture.. I love the culture win, lose or draw. I don’t think anyone else can love it more than me, because not everyone has love. Some love money and self. I don't think anyone else brings the passion and
14 ET&T •FEBRUARY, 2019 • www.amgtt.com
love like I do. ET&T: Explain what it feels like to be a mother. JADEL: Being a mother is the most beautiful thing in the world. I finally feel complete. I am proud being a woman. Words can't describe the blessing I have received in bringing forth life. ET&T: How has motherhood, affected your season thus far? JADEL: It's not affecting my season at all. The love I have for the culture has made me work even harder for my daughter so it
ET&T: What would you describe as a perfect carnival season for you in 2019? JADEL: Just getting out there more… getting my name Jadel linked to my music and having my music in all categories being aired for the wide cross-section of people on all stations. ET&T: Any plans for after Carnival? JADEL: After carnival I remain an artiste. I plan to release new music...and go wherever my music takes me. ET&T: Anything else you want readers to know? JADEL: Never let anyone deter you from your goals because with hard work you will achieve. Do not sell yourself short. The sky is the limit. With God being the boss and by trusting him, all things are possible.
LOST ONES C
arnival is nothing without the human element. With that said, some people have done more to shape the culture than others. Some very important cultural figures passed away in 2018 whose impact will surely be missed in 2019.
The Mighty Shadow Dr. Winston Bailey (the Mighty Shadow) was as much an enigma as he was a gem of a talent. However, he was beloved by his countrymen and calypso and soca aficionados around the globe. The Belmont-born, Les Coteauxraised bard had distinctive musical style and fashion sense that has often been imitated, but never duplicated. Shadow won the Road March title twice as well as the Calypso and International Soca Monarch competitions once. He was the second artist to win the Road March and Soca Monarch titles in the same year. He was also the oldest person to secure a Road March or Soca Monarch title. Bailey was awarded an Honorary Doctorate posthumously by the UWI for his contribution to the Literary Arts. He passed away in October 2018.
STALWARTS WHO DIED IN 2018, BUT THEIR FEATURE IMPACT WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN IN 2019
placed second in 2000 and 2007 and copped third place in 2010. He was an outspoken advocate for the development of calypso and the local arts. Defosto died in November 2018.
Lord Superior Andrew ‘Lord Superior’ Marcano was one of the most underrated calypsonians in our cultural history. Never one to be seen without his guitar, the always impeccably-dressed singer was a major advocate for calypso around the world. He laboured for many years to get a radio broadcasting license in order to start his own station (Superior Radio) which promoted 100percent calypso/ soca. Superior was considered to be the first calypsonian to produce a record on his own record label, as well as the first to calypsonian to perform at the Madison Square Gardens, in New York. Marcano was also the first to produce a fulllength calypso musical. He died in November 2018.
The Mighty Composer He was born Fred Mitchell before changing his name to Agba Olu Sino Amono in his later years. However, the Calypso fraternity remembers this stalwart as The Mighty Composer. He came up the ranks as a member of the Singing Mitchells family collective doing background vocals for Sparrow’s National Recording Company productions, before he became a calypsonian himself as a member of at Sparrow’s Original Young Brigade. He left a mark on local culture’s administrative side having been a founding member of the first Calypsonian's Association in Trinidad and Tobago. His popular song “Child Training” is a classic that is still played today on indigenous circuits. He died in December 2018.
George Maxwell Richards He held the highest office in Trinidad and Tobago, but that didn’t stop him from feting and masquerading with the common folk. He was a true man of the people who enjoyed the Carnival atmosphere as much as anyone. In fact, he could be found parading the streets on a Carnival Monday and Tuesday into the twilight of his life. However, his carnival legacy extends way beyond his penchant for masquerading. ‘Max’ (as he was affectionately known) actually invented the public allinclusive fete (UWI Fete) back when he was Principal of UWI in 1990. The admission back then was $100, but it gave birth to a phenomenon which has definitely altered the Carnival landscape. He died in January 2018.
The Original DeFosto Himself He was a true symbol of overcoming. He was abandoned as unnamed baby at birth, but grew up to be a calypso titan before his eventual passing. Defosto a.k.a Winston Scarborough was an avid lover of pan and was especially revered for his composition of pan songs. In fact, his songs were winning selections at the National Panorama competition’s large band category 4 times. Though he never won the National Calypso Monarch title, Scarborough came close on a few occasions. He www.amgtt.com •

CUMBERBATCH ET&T JELAN ARTISTE MANAGER TO THE STARS!

A
t just 32 years old, Jelan Cumberbatch has developed quite a name for himself in the field of Artiste Management. The Diamond Vale native established JC Management Co Ltd in 2012 and over the last 7 years has managed to gain the trust and confidence of a diverse cadre of talents spread across Trinidad and Tobago, St. Maarten, St. Lucia, New York and Miami. We had a chat with Jelan to see just how manages it all! ET&T: How did your career within this field begin? Jelan: At 18 I was doing events and gradually got into the management of artistes, DJs and other clients. Some of the artistes I knew used to complain and I thought at the time I could learn and do the job. ET&T: Do you remember the first artiste you managed? Jelan: The first artiste I managed was Simba Amani, a reggae artiste. ET&T: What’s the difference between a manager and a publicist? Jelan: There is a big difference. A manager directs, guides and assists the client to achieve their goals and their objectives… they do whatever it takes as discussed between themselves and the client. A publicist only deals with the public perception of the artiste in traditional and non-traditional media. The manager on the other hand is the person who oversees all aspects of the artiste’s professional and sometimes personal life. Artiste management is a very demanding job! ET&T: Who are some of the new talents under your
management company? Jelan: We recently added Ki & the Band, Simmy the Trini (comedian), Giselle ‘The Wassi One’, Veekash (from Ki & The Band) and Olatunji & The Tadow Band. ET&T: Which has been the most important addition in the last year? I think adding a comedian Simmy the Trini was important

to our brand because it showed the level of diversity within our portfolio. ET&T: In your opinion why have so many artistes gravitated towards your brand? Jelan: I think what makes us different is our work ethic and our dedication to our clients. We care about our clients and their wellbeing. It’s not about the money
alone for us, we want to be in on the journey to see every single one of our clients reach their full potential. ET&T: What are some of the categories of talent that you manage? How challenging is this? Jelan: We are a talent booking agency and we have on our rosterhosts; Comedians; Soca, Reggae, Latin and Chutney Artistes; DJs,
HOT SEAT Producers, Music Bands and Choreographers. It is a lot of work, but I have a very experienced, talented and hardworking team, so we spilt up the work and we get it done efficiently. ET&T: Your clients are also not confined to Trinidad and Tobago. How do you make it work? Jelan: We have some clients that are based in different countries, but because of advances in technology we are able to be in communication with them. We also take into account the time difference in various parts of the world and try as best as possible to make the necessary accommodations. ET&T: With such a vast range of artistes under your wing, how do you ensure that you provide each of them with the best service? Jelan: It is difficult to provide each client with everything so we also work in conjunction with the client’s internal teams and we work around the clock to ensure that our client’s needs are meet. We are not perfect and sometimes we fall short, but we try out best to accommodate and we are also thinking about expanding our team to assist in these regards. ET&T: Do you think that the state of our local music industry would be better if artistes were better managed?? Jelan: Yes, I believe that if artistes had proper management they would be much better because artistes should be left to be creative and focus on the music and not have to worry about the business side of things. In saying so, artistes should be aware and should know everything that is going on as regards their career and their business, but proper management and representation puts the client’s mind at ease. Therefore, they can be more productive and execute plans much better. This will further their careers as a result. Artiste
ET&T: What’s the best part of your job? Jelan: There are a lot of great things about this job, but traveling around the world to different countries… I would have to say is probably the best part.
Managers or management companies also set the tone that it is indeed a business and I think that is lacking a lot. Hopefully in the near future that will change. ET&T: Apart from management services what other kinds of services does your company provide? Jelan: We offer booking, event management, consultation,
PR and social media and other marketing services. ET&T: What benefits can professional management provide for our young and upcoming artistes? Jelan: I think that management companies can offer guidance and knowledge of the music business which is critical and quintessential for all young and upcoming artistes. www.amgtt.com •
ET&T: What are some of the upcoming projects that we should look forward to from your cadre of clients in the near future? Jelan: We have a lot of upcoming projects with different clients such as music videos, album releases, creation of branded events, performing in new countries and just general expansion of brands and spreading their talent to the world. ET&T: If you had the choice to live your life in another profession, what would it be? Jelan: I would probably be a lawyer or something to do with doing speeches or motivational speaking. •FEBRUARY, 2019 • ET&T 17

of Premier Events to delve into the Carnival arena’s all-inclusive event space in 2019. The fete was a follow up to a similar event entitled Cocktails and Canapés hosted at the restaurant in October 2018. However, due to the overwhelming response they decided to capitalize on the momentum in the midst of festival season. Needless to say, Cocktails, Canapés & Soca was an instant hit. The ultra-premium party experience took place at the Trinidad Hilton and featured a host of gastronomic delights nary unheard of in a fete setting. Well-dressed patrons engulfed the venue and had a spectacular time to the strains of sweet soca. We anticipate this fete to be one that is going to take over the Carnival scene very quickly. Here are a few photos. Check our Facebook page for more.

he National Panorama Finals take place on February 28th, 2019 at the Queens Park Savannah. This is a time of excitement for local pan lovers as the Panorama competition is the country’s biggest pan event annually. Here are some interesting facts about Panorama that you may or may not know… 1. The first official Trinidad Panorama was held during Carnival celebrations in 1963. 2. No winner was awarded in the 1979 Carnival since there was a boycott of the competition led by the legendary Rudolph Charles. Pannists at the time insisted that they deserved higher recognition and remu-
neration for their talents and contribution to the Arts. 3. Leon ‘Smooth’ Edwards and
the late Jit Samaroo are the arrangers with the most Panorama Large Band titles. They are www.amgtt.com •
tied with 9 wins. Len ‘Boogsie’ Sharp and Clive Bradley are tied for second place with 7 wins each. 4. There has been one tie for first place in the Panorama Large Band category. Desperadoes and Renegades shared the title in 1985. 5. Desperadoes are the unofficial Panorama GOAT’s having won the competition 11 times. They are followed by Trinidad all Stars (10 wins) and Renegades (9 wins) respectively. •FEBRUARY, 2019 • ET&T 25
FP SALUTES STYLE-SAVVY FETE FASHIONISTAS
ete-wear can vary as much as the actual events do. One minute some F casual shorts and sneakers can do the trick, while another time it’s all about sophistication and class. Fetes have evolved over the years, so
it is unfair to say that patrons can’t wear heels to party. Some events require that little extra effort in the wardrobe and we salute a few people who took the time to show this effort at a couple recent events.
These ladies look lovely in flowing prints. Few things stand out like fabric swaying along with sexy movements as soca plays.
All we have to say is “Team for yuh money!” Simple sophistication personified.
Can we all agree that this Patron at Sekon Sunday was the epitome of complete cuteness? Simple… stylish… effective.
This couple at Cocktails, Canapés and Soca was well put-together. She showed a hint of skin where necessary and her flowing fabric still allowed her to move. Plus he gets points for his colour-coordination.
