Sometimes our best partners are those within our internal divisions and departments. A-B Tech Woodfin is a great example of that. There is not only the partnership between the college and the Buncombe County Public Safety Training Center, but also a blend of both long-term and short-term programs that blend our continuing education and curriculum EMS programs seamlessly. A-B Tech Woodfin houses the college’s Emergency Services division, which encompasses Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Science, and Fire Service all at one campus. Not only is it an impressive campus, but the instructors and programs represent a cohesive blend of services that are often called on to support each other. As first responders in our community, they worked non-stop during the pandemic to keep training new recruits and EMS personnel for much needed roles in their respective areas. In addition to A-B Tech-led classes, the county has a regular schedule of classes on-site, and the two entities work hand in hand to collaborate on the use of space with a very active schedule of events. A-B Tech hosts an annual Emergency Services open house to show of the state-of-the-art facility and meet the instructors, but prospective students also are invited to reach out at any time for a tour of the campus and to learn more about our programs. Whether you are just getting started in a career in Emergency Services or need a refresher or specific course to stay current or obtain new certifications, there is sure to be something of interest.
