Who we are
Outreach programmes
Gender Training Institute (GTI) is a feminist leadership and empowerment Institute in Dar es Salaam. Established by TGNP Mtandao as a capacity building program, GTI has grown into a multi-facet education, training and mentorship provider to a variety of stakeholders.
Tailored programme activity is developed to reach and support the most vulnerable women and girls in Tanzania. Training content on specific gender issues is designed to inform and educate women affected by such issues as gender-based violence, sextortion, gender marginalization and discrimination.
With 25 years of experience, GTI is fully accredited with the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE).
Capacity building training is also provided to groups and individuals of influence in these areas, such as government officials and teachers. They are encouraged to support and give equal treatment to women and men they interact with.
Academic courses Both our NACTE long course and our short courses provide specific career-based skills combined with capacity development for transformative feminist movement building. Our courses are purpose and result oriented, designed to push for social change, while also empowering students with specialist knowledge and skills to exceed in their area of interest.
