History
On the market since 1961, Scavolini became Italy’s leading brand in 1984. Scavolini’s business model is the Italian industry’s most innovative benchmark. A large company, capable of organising a complex production process that enables it to create products of high quality value at competitive costs, Scavolini is capable of satisfying the consumer’s most varied, concrete demands in terms of styling, functionality, safety and durability.
Scavolini has been Italy’s leading kitchen brand for more than twenty-five years. It all began in Pesaro in 1961, when with great determination the brothers Valter and Elvino Scavolini succeeded in starting up a small kitchen furniture production business; in the Seventies its output increased, distribution consolidated, the sales network grew and more and more advanced technologies were introduced. In 1984 Scavolini won the leading position on the domestic market and became, in everyone’s eyes, “Italy’s favourite kitchen”. During the Nineties Scavolini, always up-to-date with latest concepts, became one of Italy’s first firms to obtain UNI EN ISO 9001 certification. In the new millennium, it has reinforced its distribution organisation worldwide, presented the ground-breaking Utility System (an innovative system of elements that make the kitchen easier to use for the differently able) and launched the “Environmental Management System”, which led to the award of prestigious UNI EN ISO 14001 certification. In 2008, Scavolini continued the implementation of its “integrated quality and environment strategy” by becoming Italy’s first company in its industry to obtain BS OHSAS 18001:2007 certification of its Occupational Health and Safety Management. In 2012 it obtained COSMOB Qualitas Praemium Indoor Hi-Quality certification, which confirms Scavolini kitchens’ compliance with the indoor pollution standards set by the US LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) regulation system. Nowadays, the Scavolini brand enjoys prestige and credibility all over the world. Scavolini’s policy of continual improvement introduced twenty or so years ago has reached its natural fulfillment with the Occupational Health and Safety Management System project. This made the Scavolini Group Italy’s first industrial group in the fitted kitchens sector (source Sincert) to obtain certification of its protection of its employees’ health and safety, proving once again its full awareness of the fundamental role played by human capital in the success of an organisation.
With the same aim, in the early 2000s the company introduced an Environmental Management system, to guarantee not only compliance with the relevant legal requirements but also improvement in the management of energy and natural resources, atmospheric emissions and waste.

SCAVOLINI KITCHENS ARE LEED Compliant
Further to its achievement of the three Certifications covering the company’s corporate, environmental and occupational health and safety management processes, it has also received the SGS Italia “Merit Award”. This prestigious award was assigned in recognition of the company’s commitment to and excellence in the real improvement of its activities.
The company has joined the voluntary certification scheme run by the COSMOB wood and furniture industry Technology Centre, which monitors pollutant emissions. The technical regulations of the COSMOB Qualitas Praemium Indoor Hi-Quality scheme are based on the LEED (Energy and Environmental Design) regulations for credit IEQ 4.5, drawn up by the USGBC (United States Green Building Council, a no-profit organisation that promotes sustainability in the construction sector), also applied in Italy since 2010 thanks to the work of GBC ITALIA, which has created a version for use on the domestic market.

Working with design means imagining new ways of making a space lovelier and better to live in. Scavolini is well aware of this, and also applies the same approach to our wonderful common home, the planet Earth, through the responsible use of resources, the use of renewable energy and the recycling of waste. Together, these strategies have a name: Scavolini Green Mind.
The company has been powering all its operations with energy from renewable sources for several years now. To achieve this, it has installed a large, latest-generation photovoltaic system on the roofs of its plants. This major project also involved the removal and safe disposal of about 40,000 m2 of asbestos cement roofing. The system comprises 31,000 m2 of mixed (“amorphous thin film” and polycrystalline) panels and has a rated power of about 3,400 kWp. Total annual output is estimated at about 4,000,000 kWh, making the company almost completely self-sufficient in energy (about 90% of present consumption). This system prevents the annual emission of about 2,100,000 kg of CO2, equivalent to 275,000 trees, and saves about 870,000 litres of fuel oil. What’s more, when it is not possible to use its own solar power output, Scavolini drives its operations with green energy produced from renewable sources (COFER certified).
PAPER The company is particularly aware of the environmental implications of the paper used for printing and has implemented actions to reduce the quantity consumed, by introducing a “digitisation” process, using paper and printing suppliers with excellent environmental credentials, etc.
WASTE One aim which Scavolini sets itself is the reduction of the amount of waste produced and sent to landfills. To achieve this, Scavolini sorts waste internally ready for recycling into more than 30 different types. Thanks to this sorting process, Scavolini sends 90% of the waste generated by its production operations for recycling.
AIR The company performs thorough regular checks on the emissions produced, in order to verify compliance with the legal limits and gradually decrease its pollutant emissions. To achieve this, Scavolini has installed systems for filtering and removing the pollutants in its atmospheric emissions, which enable it to constantly reduce pollution.

Scavolini The Management System Scavolini has adopted a new integrated IT system, in operation since 2006, the only one of its kind in the fitted kitchen sector in Italy, or indeed in Europe, once again confirming Scavolini’s role as leader, ahead of the field in all forms of innovation. This integrated system, supplied by SAP - world leader in business software solutions - includes a graphic Configurator for the input of sales orders and an automated production plant management system. This new technology has created a direct connection between the design of the kitchen and its
production using numerically controlled machines, reducing the margin of error during the management of orders and the relative delivery. The IT system is the keystone of the Assist project (which starts with the creation of the order and continues through to delivery to the Point of Sale) intended to totally integrate processes and data in order to maintain strict control of all factors which may impact on quality, in spite of the growing complexity of the kitchens required by today’s market.
