THE FLORIDA ORCHESTRA TO OFFER FREE INSTRUMENT PETTING ZOOS IN THREE COUNTIES.

The Florida Orchestra is teaming up with public libraries and other organizations to greatly expand its free Instrument Petting Zoos for kids during the summer. For the first time, TFO will offer 20 events June through August in Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas. The Instrument Petting Zoo is a collection of orchestral instruments that kids can handle and try out, with TFO staffers and volunteers on hand to help. The zoo includes violin, cello, trombone, trumpet, flute, various percussion and more. The Instrument Petting Zoo also will be a part of TFO’s new full-orchestra Family Concerts debuting in the fall. edged in restaurant row at Tampa’s International Plaza, Doc B’s Fresh Kitchen stands out for its amazing menu. At first, we thought Doc B stood for Doctor Barbeque because the BBQ items are so outstanding. However, Doc B is actually lovingly-named after Founder and CEO of the restaurant, Craig Bernstein’s late father, Robert “Doc B” Bernstein. Doc B’s first opened in Chicago in 2013 and has expanded to a 2nd Chicago location — River North and Gold Coast. In Texas, its in Austin, Fort Worth, and Dallas. In Florida its in Coral Gables, Ft Lauderdale, and Tampa. The decor is streamlined, no non-sense, not fussy, but still has a cool vibe. An open kitchen allows patrons to watch food prep, and there is an outdoor patio for those nice evenings to enjoy food and/or drink. A lot of restaurants say they have something for everyone, but Doc B’s truly does. The menu is not heavily extensive, but items are choice and everyone will find something well-crafted to suit their taste. When you have “Fresh” in your name, as in Fresh Kitchen, you better come through, and Doc B’s does. Everything we tried was very fresh and flavorful. They offer appetizers, entrees, sandwiches, burgers, salads, seafood, pizza and the very popular Wok Out Bowl — market vegetables with cashews and your choice of select seafood or meat — not to forget desserts and delish cocktails. Although some of the dishes are quite indulgent, they also offer a lot of healthy alternatives for a good mix. Everything is made from scratch. Doc B’s menus are not all exactly the same, as they give a nod to the area they are located in to please the local palate. On our dining journey, we started out with the Housemade Guacamole, with crispy sweet potato chips. The guac is actually outstanding. We went on to the Danish Barbeque Ribs, with house barbeque, and substituted the coleslaw for cucumber salad, which was amazing. The ribs were perfect — a little crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The Wedge Burger was next because it sounded so intriguing, made with a sunny-side-up egg, bacon, danish blue cheese, and garlic dressing. It did not

DOC B’s cont’ disappoint. For dessert, we had Rob’s Double Decker Chocolate Cake, which was very moist and not overbearingly chocolatey. Superb! Although we did not try a few of the dishes we have illustrated here, they are so popular with patrons, we have included the photos: The Wok Out Bowl with Faroe Island Salmon, and the Mediterranean Shrimp Salad with avocado vinaigrette and crumbled feta. Doc B’s has a great happy hour from 4 pm - 6 pm every day. Good prices can be had on some of their tastiest foodstuffs from the kitchen, and drinks from the bar. Doc B’s tag-line is “Honest American food at it’s best.” We concur.

The Epic Chef Showdown is a seven-week competition pitting eight of the Tampa Bay area’s top restaurants against each other in a friendly cooking competition judged by a panel of local celebrities and notable food writers. Each week, beginning Monday, July 15, two competing chefs will receive a mystery box of ingredients not commonly prepared together, and will be challenged to create two unique dishes under the pressure of the clock. The non-profit sanctuary is home to more than 70 lions, tigers, leopards, cougars, servals, caracals, and various other exotic cats. A culinary mashup of global cultures and gourmet innovation will bring irresistible bites, sips, entertainment and family fun to the 24th Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. s the saying goes, “Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day.” You don’t have to wait until March 17 to live Irish. If you like the fun, the entertainment, the flavors—and the beer, you can enjoy an authentic Irish celebration any day of the year at Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant in Disney Springs. The emphasis is on authentic. At Raglan Road, you will find a true Irish food and drink menu — not Americanized. The Victorian-style pub is named after a well-known street in Dublin, and the whole pub was actually built in Ireland by fine craftsmen and reassembled in Disney Springs, so the design and decor are bona fide. Dancers, singers, and musicians are from Ireland as well. The restaurant recently welcomed a new executive chef, Mark O’Neill, bringing some new tastes, but still keeping the authenticity. Having built up an impressive resume in several European countries, the Irishman recently relocated with his family to the USA for his job here. He is creating modern Irish food dishes that are continually evolving. O’Neill is quite adamant about sourcing fresh ingredients that

We were feeling a bit Irish recently and headed over to the pub for dinner/fun, and we had plenty of both. We actually ended up ordering too much food because everything sounded soooo good. You may find a beef dish on the menu or an Irish stew, but you need to throw out your preconceived notions of what it will look and taste like. This is the real deal folks, and quite different (read: better) than the American version. The menu is well thought out and dishes are cleverly titled, such as “Nom Nom Wings” (Sweet ‘n’ spicy wings tossed in a honey, chili flake, soy and ginger sauce) and “It’s Not Bleedin’ Chowder!” (Cuts of fresh seafood and potatoes in a white wine infused cream broth.) We started out with a refreshing and delightful cocktail, “The Pride of the Peninsula”, which is Dingle Irish Gin, Fever Tree Chef Mark O ’Neill elderflower tonic, fresh lime, cucumber and mint. Irish beer is pretty desirable, and Raglan Road has quite the beer list. We were advised by those in the know that there are certain menu items that are a must. One is the “Rack of Heaven”, and yes, the slow-roasted Guinness glazed rack of baby back ribs lived up to its name. Another is “Scallop Forest” with Georges Bank scallops in a golden batter served with citrus lime dipping sauce and sweet chili jam. I don’t eat scallops. However, once I tasted these, I ended up devouring more than anyone else at the table. (Sorry, table mates.)

Raglan Road cont’ The tasty “Beer Battered Onion Rings” were crispy and melt-inyour-mouth at the same time. Delicious “Fish & Chips” were also crispy with a light batter — and can be prepared as a gluten-free option. Table bread is an Irish Brown Bread with an unusual but delightful Guinness dipping glaze. We ordered the pan roasted “Cider Salmon”, served with golden potatoes, sautéed spinach and charred lemon, with a strawberry and lime cider glaze, which was tender and moist. We then had a traditional dish but with a quirky name, “Keen Eye for the Shepherd’s Pie”, which had a different presentation than we’re used to, but super-flavorful and delicious. Hard to believe, but we did have some dessert after all that — a sweet Apple Crumble. Of course, we had several takehome boxes as well.

While all this incredible dining is going on, so is some great traditional Irish entertainment. Musicians on stage (Flutes, fiddles, banjos, guitars) play for some lively Irish dancers. It’s hard not to be toe-tapping in your seat. For some numbers, they pull up some of the younger audience members and have them perform a step or two after a quick lesson. Occasionally, a solo dancer or musician will pop up on a tiny 150-year old raised stage in the middle of the main room. To experience Raglan Road is really to travel to Ireland for a little while, as it is a totally immersive experience. Our advice is to not wait until St. Paddy’s Day to get your Irish on.

NEW ADVENTURES BEYOND THE PARKS Dezerland Action Park, Orlando’s largest indoor entertainment, events museum complex, will offer 800,000 square feet of family entertainment. In 2019, the Orlando Auto Museum, one of the largest privately-owned collection of automobilia in the world, will open as part of phase one. The 250,000-square-foot experience will boast over 100 TV and Movie Cars, including dynamic displays of Hollywood Cars, 007 James Bond, Batmobiles, Vespa Scooters, Military and Micro Cars. Wild Florida is expanding by more than six times its size to add a zipline and drive-through safari, bringing visitors nose-to-snout with giraffes, wild boars and other exotic animals. Epic Axe Throwing is the first-of-its-kind in Orlando, a rustic “sport” open to anyone over the age of 13. Guests will have coaches on hand to teach them the art in a safe environment, for a unique new attraction with a competitive “edge.”

NEW RESORTS AND HOTELS Orlando accommodations continue to experience significant growth. By the end of 2019, Orlando is expected to add approximately 6,000 new rooms. Margaritaville Resort Orlando is will feature 175 rooms, 1,000 Margaritaville-themed vacation homes and 300 timeshare units. The resort will also include a dining and entertainment district, a 12-acre water park, wellness center, miles of fitness trails and a destination water taxi system.

Disney Riviera Resort, the 15th Disney Vacation Club property, is expected to open fall 2019 complete with a rooftop restaurant with views of both Epcot’s and Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ nighttime spectaculars. Preservation Tips for Paintings and Prints P

eople love their collections. No matter the type of objectâ&#x20AC;&#x201D;cookie jars, military memorabilia, fine art printsâ&#x20AC;&#x201D;collectors want to add to a collection, display their assembled objects, and enjoy learning more about their treasures. One of the most important and interesting aspects of collecting is preserving collectibles, albeit art or antiques, for the long term. Many collections include family heirlooms or assembled collections that will be handed down so preserving a collection is very important. Here are some key points about how to protect, preserve, and enjoy your collections. Light is the real problem when it comes to preservation of paintings and works on paper. UV protection using UVfiltered or opaque materials are key to preventing fading and light damage. One of the best ways to preserve fine art is investing in quality framing. For an oil on canvas painting, a frame will protect both the stretcher and the canvas as well as give a finished look to the painting. Unlike paintings which should not be framed under glass as a general rule, prints require a different type of protection. Prints and other works on paper like antique maps, historic documents, etc. should be matted and framed under glass using materials that are free of acid in order to protect the paper. For acid free materials like mats and storage boxes, a pH level of 7.0 or greater used at the time of manufacture and adhesives that are pH neutral are recommended for framing fragile works on paper. Some acid free materials are made free of lignin, which can produce acid and darken paper known as tanning or acid burning. Some of the most critical damage that happens to art and antiques happens when objects are stored.

When you first put them away in storage, everything is fine but over time, change in temperature and humidity, and other affects that occur when no one is looking will impact the condition and value of an antique collection. Although it is little known, significant damage can occur during storage. It is important to store objects in archival boxes intended for a certain type and size of collectible. Support is necessary for fragile objects and storage containers like archival boxes need to be constructed to stand the test of time. One size does not fit all when it comes to storage. Large paintings should be stored off the floor, preferably hanging up. If there is no room for that storage solution, then store large paintings standing upright. While it may seem convenient, never lay paintings flat, face up under a bed. Smaller paintings may be stored upright back to back and face to face on separated shelves. Use acid free foam core dividers to prevent the wire from the back of one painting from scratching the front of another painting. There are specific techniques to protecting art, a good rule of thumb is to handle with care, display works of art away from direct sunlight and store works in areas where temperature and humidity fluctuations are minimal. Seems like last year’s football season just ended and here we are getting ready for training camp at the end of the month. If anyone thinks all has been quiet over at 1 Bucs Place, think again. After a couple of weeks rest things started to gear up for the 2019 season. The first thing that had to be done was the coaching staff. That seems to have worked well, the Bucs really need to get some long term coaches. The next thing that had to be dealt with was the draft. I’m not sure how anybody figures out that whole thing, it seems like a mystery to me. Somehow, after many long days and nights, the powers that be came up what they hope will be a winning combination. The draft party was a great success, it really got everyone in to the mood for a outstanding season. Along with the draft other things have changed. It’s been like the good, the bad and the ugly. The good is that the Bucs got the players they need; they got new coaches and also new sponsors. “On Location Experiences”, the official NFL’s hospitality’s partner will be the Bucs travel partner for the London game against the Panthers on Oct. 13th. This will be a once in a lifetime experience for the fans. London is an incredible city. In addition to getting the chance to watch the Bucs play to play at Tottingham Hotspur Stadium you will be able to enjoy a great tour of London and all it’s hot spots. You will have a private dinner cruise on the River Thames where you will be joined by several NFL players as you sail past the Houses of Parliament, the Globe Theatre and many of the sights that we know but never saw in person. On land you will see Big Ben, the famous churches and parks that the city is known for plus the theatre district. You will enjoy all this from your private, world famous, red double decker bus. If you a really lucky, you’ll get to see the changing of the guard at the palace. I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the 92

The Bucs are in the forefront, as usual, helping the community. Their 7th annual support for Pediatric Cancer , Cut for Cure, was supported by players and staff. They had their heads shaved or colored orange, the official color of the NPCF. Over the past several years they have raised over $300,000 for charities. In June O. J. Howard led football drills on support of the Hyundai Youth Football Camp. Donovan Smith and his teammates hosted the 2nd. Annual Bowling for Austism fundraiser. The Bucs Rookies and USAA visited McDillAirForce Base in June. This an annual event. There have been so many events like this that the Bucs sponsor and fund that make them such wonderful assets to the community. Thank you. These are just a few of the things the Bucs do so well with. Now, what they did that wasn’t good, was the way they treated Gerald McCoy. I understand things happen and everyone knows that NFL means Not For Long. Each team has to put the best players they can on the field, the Bucs and teams have to deal with the cap. I get all that, BUT, the way Gerald McCoy was treated was a disaster.

Now we’re back to good things. There has been a change in Training Camp. Camp begins on July 26th with 15 practices open to the general public. This year most practices will begin at 4 pm in order to take advantage of the (hopefully) cooler weather. On August 1st, the Bucs will host a special practice for “The Women of Red” at 5pm. The special evening will be at the team’s indoor practice facility and will consist of on field drills, food and cocktails and a post autograph sessions with the Bucs. The annual Military Day, presented by USAA will be on be on Aug. 5th when the team will welcome hundreds of military personnel for an exclusive outing and viewing opportunity at Advent Health Training Center. For all training camps parking is free of charge. Fans will be able to purchase official team merchandise. The fan activity zone will include local food plus appearances by Capt. Fr and the cheerleaders. There will also be a Jr. Fan Zone. Training tickets are free, but you must reserve
