FROM THE CEO Craig Wood, Jenny and Mario Iannarelli enjoying the beautiful Margaret River

Dear Member, Following on from my last update I am pleased to announce that the planned migration of our reservation centre from Singapore has now commenced and our transition back to our Robina Head Office will be fully completed by September 1st. We are very happy to continue to have Interval International as our exchange partner. For all Club bookings and enquires you will continue to call 1300 76 14 14 (Option 1). Thank you for all the wonderful feedback from your experiences of enjoying the benefits of Accor Vacation Club Travel. If you haven’t yet visited the site please go to your Members Website and click on the Accor Vacation Club travel option. Make sure you start with viewing the short 2 minute video to find out what all the fuss is about. There are a few examples of what the Travel Club has to offer inside this edition of Vacations. This year we continue with our refurbishment program having completed Grand Mercure The Vintage Hunter Valley, The Sebel Creswick Forest Resort and Grand Mercure Puka Park, with The Sebel Busselton to be finished by year end. Please find inside this edition some of the great refurbishment transformations our team have completed. The Accor Hotel Select programs continue to be very well utilized with already over 6,000 room nights this year. Our social media goes from strength to strength, with a growing following on both Facebook and Instagram. It is a great way to find out more about what is happening at your Club and also an opportunity to read about other Members’ holiday experiences as well as share your own. Don’t forget, when posting your memorable holiday photos to tag them with #accorvacationclub. Finally; my first boss in this industry taught me that we are only as good as the people that we employ. The dream of a world class club and service is only a dream without the people to execute your vision. It is fair to say that our General Manager of Grand Mercure Basildene Manor, Jenny Iannarelli took what I thought were lofty expectations and raised them above

and beyond what most of us thought was possible. Basildene Manor is now recognized as one of the top performing hotels in the whole of the Pacific Region. It has been one of TripAdvisor’s highest ranked properties for a number of years, holding the number one spot in its category for as long as I can remember, recently earning their prestigious Travellers Choice award for 2018. Jenny will retire from our business shortly after 13 years at the Manor but leaves as her legacy a wonderful team who will continue her great work. For those of you who have had the pleasure of enjoying Jenny’s hospitality over the years, including her revered homemade scones for that sometimes long ride home, please join me in wishing Jenny a well deserved retirement. Jenny, from me and the team, I deliver to you your famous parting note you have delivered to so many of our Members throughout the years’ you will be ‘Scone but not forgotten’! Happy Holidays to you all, Warm regards,

Craig Wood Chief Executive Officer Accor Vacation Club CEO@accorvacationclub.com.au

REFURBISHMENT The Sebel Creswick Forest Resort The Sebel Creswick Forest Resort Victoria, Australia

The Sebel Creswick Forest Resort is a fantastic place for a mini break beyond Melbourne, located just out of Ballarat and near gorgeous Daylesford. With a great choice of cycling trails, spa culture, golfing, pubs, restaurants and cafes on its doorstep, the destination is definitely one to lock in for an autumn or winter escape. Of course if that is not enough to book a stay, then you’re in luck, with the property recently receiving a refresh of its 18 apartments. As part of the cosmetic update, each two-bedroom apartment has been treated to fresh paint throughout its interiors, for a contemporary colour scheme that is on trend for Members and guests. The Sebel’s open-air balconies have also been treated to a refresh, with new balcony partitions now installed in all apartments, - a priority for those who want to relax in true privacy while soaking up Creswick’s fresh country air. Lighting has been a central theme for the property’s update, both indoors and outdoors. When used correctly, lighting can enhance and transform outdoor spaces, and new exterior lighting has breathed new life into each balcony area, creating a little oasis of relaxation for Members, while keeping the space practical. Harnessing Creswick’s stunning year-round natural daylight, Accor Vacation Club has introduced new skylights in each bathroom at The Sebel Forest Resort, a simple but important addition guaranteed to brighten up Members experiences during their next visit! Bathrooms are one of the best rooms in the house to embrace natural light, and the installation of fresh skylights has transformed the feel of the room.

After a hectic year of travel where we managed to squeeze in visits to 10 countries and around 15 interstate adventures, you might think the Eats World family would be happy with a bit of a stretch at home. Think again. Our collective feet are as itchy as ever and the call of a hot hotel and a little frolicking on a sunny beach has been almost as deafening as the silence when we rattle our piggy bank to see how far our holiday funds will stretch. In fact, said piggy pretty much flipped us the proverbial bird when we even started thinking about a weekend away. Our plans were scuppered until, like a knight in shining boardies, The Sebel Manly Beach came to our rescue. The relaxed but super stylish Sebel Manly Beach hotel is one of Accor Vacation Club’s most popular destinations and with its funky tropical interiors, warm service and enviable location right on the beachfront at Manly, it’s no surprise. The hotel is certainly a hit with Raffles and Sugarpuff. They are smitten as soon as they walk in to our room to be greeted with a huge welcome sign scrawled on the mirrors, the pineapple strewn décor and the beach balls, frisbees and chocolates waiting for them on the end of the bed. Me? I’m just as excited by the huge amount of space in our one-bedroom apartment, and the awesome view from our balcony. Even with the glorious gold and blue of Manly Beach at point blank range, the kids are insistant we road test the pool at The Sebel Manly Beach first. They splash, wallow and frolic in the refreshing water, playing dodge beach ball with each other’s heads before plonking themselves in the warmth of the Jacuzzi. I swear they’d be happy to spend the rest of the day right where they are, but with a little coercion and the promise of ice cream, we manage to get them out and across the road to make the most of all that sunshine and sea.

9

They flit and frolic along the golden expanse of beach, clamber over rock pools, and fling themselves head first into the surf, their joy contagious. As the sun starts to set it dawns on me that I have forgotten to bring towels to dry off my dripping wet children. But the Sebel Manly Beach, clearly used to airheaded guests like myself, are prepared for such eventualities and there’s a shelf full of clean towels waiting right inside the front door. There’s also a refreshing water cooler and a big basket of beach goodies such as buckets, spades, snorkels and frisbees, that the kids make a mental note to raid later. We’ve always said it’s the little things that matter when we stay in a hotel. But this hotel has so many little things that it’s making a very big impression. Just a 30-minute ferry ride from the city, Manly, which has just been voted as having the best beach in Australia by the readers of TripAdvisor, has so much to offer visiting families. Along with weekend markets, a proliferation of playgrounds, dozens of great restaurants, safe swimming beaches and scenic nature walks, bike and rollerblade hire, there’s also the giant slides of Waterworks, which the kids are keen to take on. But on this occasion the kids are all about the sea and sand, and are happy dunking themselves in the waves, drying off only long enough to patronise the odd playground that dots the beachfront walk from Manly to Queenscliff. They expend so much energy that after grabbing dinner at Salty Rooster, which just happens to be their favourite burger joint of all time, they both head straight to bed at the Sebel manly. It doesn’t take long for them to fall into a deep sleep in their comfy beds. They wake up ravenous so we head to breakfast at the fun and funky Manly Wine, located on the ground floor of the Sebel. The food is extraordinary and Raffles devours a stacked plate of avocado and ranch beans topped with poached eggs and hollandaise. Sweet loving Sugarpuff on the other chooses to gobble down an enormous bowl of fresh fruit, yoghurt and real honeycomb. We consider hiring bikes to explore further afield but the kids are more inclined to roller blade along the promenade, stopping for ice cream then kicking off their blades and throwing themselves headfirst back into those irresistible waves. Weekends don’t get better, or come easier than one at the Sebel Manly Beach with kids, and our stay has us excited to explore some of the other accommodation options available in the Accor Vacation Club network. More than Melbourne… vibrant Victoria Outside the urban centre that is Melbourne, breathtaking alpine scenery and rolling country landscapes await in regional Victoria. Jump in my car If you are looking for self-drive holidays beyond Melbourne, there are two standout destinations, within a few hours of the city, that let you leverage your Accor Vacation Club Membership. A one and half hour drive west from Melbourne lies Creswick, Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges. For a comfortable and stylish home base for your travel adventures, look no further than The Sebel Creswick Forest Resort. Stylish and recently refreshed, the property’s great location gives you the chance to immerse yourself in the area’s fascinating history, wine and cuisine close to your apartment. A short 10 minutes from Ballarat, and in close proximity to the historical townships of Creswick and Clunes, the resort is also ideally situated just 20 minutes from Daylesford and the famous mineral waters of Hepburn Springs – a must see on any trip to this region.

11

Yarra Valley Victoria, Australia

If a cool change is on your mind, then the Great Alpine Road and Victorian High Country beckon. The Sebel Pinnacle Valley Resort in Mansfield is approximately three-hours drive from Melbourne Airport, and a stunning year round destination. Obviously a popular destination with ski enthusiasts in winter, mountain bikers and hikers love heading here in pursuit of a natural high in the warmer months. Pinnacle Valley is also perfect for those who simply appreciate a dose of mountain air in their lungs and epic panoramas of snowcapped mountains for a more relaxed break close to nature.

Creswick, Clunes, Daylesford and Hepburn Springs

Yarra Valley Wineyard Victoria, Australia

Step back in time Located in the heart of Victoria’s gold rush country, Creswick, and its neighbouring village of Clunes, The Sebel Creswick is the launch pad for a whole range of amazing sightseeing, wellbeing and heritage tour options. While some might argue that the town’s most famous export is author Norman Lindsay who wrote the iconic children’s book, The Magic Pudding - others would say that historically, gold is its enduring legacy. While Lindsay’s artistic memory is kept alive with museums, parks and many buildings named after him in Creswick, the intoxicating gold rush era of the 1850’s is never far from mind, with elegant, grand heritage architecture on display in most main streets. A beautiful reminder of the intense prosperity the gold rush represented for the region. The Buried Rivers of Gold Heritage Trail is a self-guided driving tour worth doing, for a personal journey to uncover the amazing history of gold fever across land and local rivers. Booklets and maps are available for $2 at the Creswick Museum or the Creswick Visitor Information Centre and provide an insight into Creswick’s past and surrounds.

Spas and wellness

Did someone say wine?

Before wellness holidays were ever a ‘thing’, Victoria was on trend and home to the hot spring holiday phenomenon for more than 150 years. Offering Australia’s largest concentration of natural mineral springs, the twin spa towns of Daylesford and the Hepburn Springs are restorative, with natural healing and wellness qualities that need to be experienced to be believed! Since 1895, that is exactly what travellers have done, and although swimming in the mineral rich Hepburn Pool is now advised against, you can still soak in the rejuvenating warm waters at a range of nearby professional spas, not least of all the historic Hepburn Bathhouse or delightful destination day spas at The Lakehouse or the Mineral Spa, to name a few.

Of course, if you have wine on your mind, Creswick is within easy driving distance to Ballarat, Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges’ many wineries for those who want to trade spring water for a drop of red, white or sparkling wine!

If spa therapies, steam rooms, pools and aromatherapy aren’t your game, then head to the 30 acre Hepburn Springs Mineral Reserve where an abundance of beautiful gardens and walks await. The reserve is the perfect place for a picnic, and to fill up your empty water bottle with your choice of mineral waters from Australia’s first mineral reserve, created in 1865. Each spring tastes a little different as the composition of minerals varies – not exactly wine tasting, but a lot healthier for you most would say!

The region has a premium wine reputation, with many boutique wineries benefiting from the districts low temperatures and yields. Popular varietals include pinot noir, pinot gris, chardonnay and sparkling wines. The 2018 Trip Advisor Excellence awards, referenced Daylesford Wine Tours as a great way to explore local vineyards, without the need for a designated driver. For traditional cider lovers, check out the Daylesford Cider Company to sample English-style, estate-grown apple brews at their best. Worth a visit in winter, with mulled cider by the fire a perfect way to warm up.

Golden golfing and a great yarn For some, no holiday is complete without a round of golf. Fortunately, The Sebel Creswick Forest Resort is moments from the Creswick Golf Club. Designed by legendary course architect, Tony Cashmere, the 150 acre, international class course is set against a native bushland setting. Each nine holes has two par -five holes and two par-three holes, and is an impressive 6300 metres, championship length from the back tees. After talking up your golf game, another type of yarn awaits at the Creswick Woollen Mills, a new tourism experience with a difference. “A Very Fine Yarn” showcases the journey of fibre sourced direct from its source – alpacas! Be sure to arrive at Creswick Woollen Mills early in the day to make the most of your production-site visit. Check out the beautiful products on offer or to simply stroll the picturesque grounds and see the mills’ resident alpacas up close.

Pinnacle Valley

On your bike As Australia’s premier cycling destination, the Victorian High Country offers an unrivalled range of trails, mountain biking, and road riding – from green to the extreme, depending on your fitness and endurance levels (and how fast you like your heart to race). It’s the perfect spring and summer time activity, to really appreciate the beauty of the Victorian High Country up close, and get some mud in your tracks. Officially described as ‘epic’ by the International Mountain Biking Association, the entire Australian Alpine Epic Trail is indeed impressive, with unforgettable scenery. For many biking this region is a true bucket list wish. Guests of The Sebel Pinnacle Valley Resort are fortunate enough to be close to two famous trails to try, Copperhead and Stonefly, located nearby at Mt Buller. Up for something really challenging? Not a problem. If you thought The Dirty Dozen was just an old Clint Eastwood film, then think again! The Dirty Dozen series of iconic mountain bike rides through the Victorian High Country is one for all the adrenalin seekers out there to conquer. Not one for the faint hearted though. Of course, for those who want to leave their bikes at home, the chance to grab your walking or hiking boots and greet the great outdoors is almost irresistible. Trust us – all that fresh alpine air breaths new energy and enthusiasm into the most weary of travellers. The Mount Buffalo National Park offers a 90 kilometre hiking network, so there is a track and pace for everyone. If you fancy a run, perhaps take on the Victorian High Country’s 7 Peaks

15

Vineyards in the Valley Regional Victoria is obviously well known for its viticulture scene, so if you have your heart set on exploring a Victorian vineyard on holiday at The Sebel Pinnacle Valley, then you’re in luck. The Victorian High Country is in easy access to eight wine regions, each offering a different experience reflecting the areas specific climate nuances, topography and history. Kings Valley (Australia’s home of Italian and European style wines) is around 1 hour 15 drive from the resort. Rutherglen, which has a long tradition of passionate family-owned wineries, is around 1 hour 45 minutes-drive away, while the Alpine Valley’s smaller wineries are also around 1 hour 45 minutes drive from The Sebel Pinnacle Valley Resort. Of course, the Victorian High Country itself serves up some great options, closer to the Resort. Less than half an hour in Mansfield is the award winning Victorian High Country winery, Delatite, which specialises in cool climate wines. Cheers to that! The perfect accompaniment to all that wine is, of course, Victorian High Country cheese. King Valley Dairy produces an amazing brie, with Tolpuddle Goat Cheese and Milawa Cheese similarly on top for a taste of the region. For a sweet treat, try some famous Beechworth Honey, produced in the Victorian High Country since the 1800s. Another traditional local drop not to be missed. It’s worth visiting The Beechworth Bee School with your family to take advantage of the centre’s picnic and play space, and take a self-guided tour of the educational ‘Bee Cause’ Garden, which is open daily.

Pinnacle Valley Victoria, Australia

Run: 21 colour-coded trails covering more than 200 kilometres across Mount Baw Baw, Mount Buller, Mount Buffalo, Dinner Plain, Mount Hotham, Falls Creek and Lake Mountain. If it all sounds a little overwhelming, a walking or bike tour with a local guide is recommended, to better explore the area’s many peaks and valleys in your own time. The local visitor information centre has maps on offer to help find a trail that suits you, if you prefer to go it alone. The Sebel’s stunning pool is also on standby to cool down and unwind after a great day in the outdoors.

Cruise sensations for your next vacation The word is out – and that word is SEA. With more than 25 million global passengers recorded in 2017, there is no doubt that cruising is the way to go for most vacationers. In fact, this number may rise by another 20% this year, as more and more first timers and vacation-seekers continue to embrace the cruise culture. Regular cruisers will tell you it’s not about filling up your Facebook pages and photo albums with memorable photos. It’s about enjoying the luxury of cruising at a slower pace of life. It’s about getting up-close and personal with the world. Immersing in rich and vivid histories, and many varied cultures, available with any destination. First time cruisers will be surprised to discover that they can tailor-fit their experiences based on a budget, select specific accommodation, arrange their own dining experiences and participate in a seemingly endless list of activities. From onboard waterparks, spas and sports, to Broadway-style entertainment and a whole host of exciting shore excursions. Put it this way, you’ll never be bored onboard! To help get you started, we’ve listed the best destinations you can choose from if you’re cruising for the first time, are a regular cruiser – or if you’re getting back into the cruising lifestyle.
