MINIMALIZE T H E T Y P E T H AT SIMPLIFIES
Media Design Thinking Design Research Visual Language
Description Minimalize is a dynamic typeface that was designed to embody the evolution of social media.
Date Began: SEPTEMBER 2016
Like with social media platforms, ‘Minimalize’ evolves based off of users engagement within a pre-defined system. Each time a user uses a character in their text, the character loses one of its axis points. The typeface continues to simplify until there is one a single line remaining, making the characters almost indistinguishable from one-another.

the type that simplifies. Designed to depict the evolution of social media, Minimalize is an interactive typeface that simplies as you use it. Like with social media interfaces, the simplification of minimalize is impacted by the user, each character losing a point with every use. The individual characters continue to simplify until there is only a line left—showing the character in its most simplified form. The simplifying nature of the typeface raises questions about the future of social media and the evolution of interface design.
