Learning without limits
Kindergarten – Year 13
I extend a warm welcome to all members of our vibrant community, with a renewed sense of connection and responsibility, forged from my personal history with Jakarta during my residence from 1998 to 2007. This bond provides me with a deep appreciation of the dynamic culture that forms the foundation of our respected institution.
At ACG School Jakarta, we are steadfast in our commitment to delivering an education anchored in the globally recognised International Baccalaureate (IB) and Cambridge programmes. These structures guide us in creating a balanced learning environment where students are encouraged to cultivate not only academic excellence but also a lifelong affection for learning.
As students navigate through their educational journey at our school, they experience a transformative phase, developing from enthusiastic learners into responsible individuals ready to make their mark in the world. This well-rounded and robust journey prepares them for further academic milestones, including seamless transitions to prestigious universities where their intellectual exploration continues to unfold. The IB and Cambridge programmes instil a nurturing ethos, promoting critical thinking and cultivating a broad global perspective.
Our mission echoes the aspiration of developing a diverse and inquiry-driven community. While we emphasise fostering academic achievements, we also prioritise nurturing compassionate individuals who are conscious of their roles and responsibilities towards the wider community and the world.
Looking ahead, we envision our school as a hub of creativity and innovation, where students adeptly utilise technology to initiate significant projects that exert a positive influence on society. Our learning environment values nature and celebrates the rich diversity of cultures, fostering a cohesive and inclusive community.
As we progress, I invite you to become active members of our vibrant community, helping to establish a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere where every student is encouraged to achieve their potential, grounded in a framework of realistic optimism.

Kindergarten Ages 3 –4
Early childhood is a crucial period in a child’s learning and holistic development, and it is through play and inquiry that children progress cognitively, physically, socially, and emotionally. We place great emphasis on nurturing children’s conceptual understanding, along with essential skills such as communication, innovation, problem solving and self-management, to equip them with the tools they will need in later life and ensure a seamless transition to primary school.
The ACG Kindergarten curriculum’s success lies in its integration of concept-based inquiry and high-quality play-based learning experiences within the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework. This approach empowers children as active learners, fostering conceptual understanding and positive learning approaches, alongside subject-specific concepts and skills.
Kindergarten students complete four ‘Units of Inquiry’ per year. These units are a part of our K-6 School Programme of Inquiry, which aligns with our school curriculum. All subjects (English language, Bahasa Indonesia, mathematics, science, social studies, music, visual art, physical education, swimming, and dance) are integrated as much as possible into these units under four transdisciplinary themes:
How we express ourselves
How the world works
We believe that parents are their child’s first teachers. We encourage our families to take an active part in the education process. We believe that strong connections within our ACG families promotes positive parent-child relationships that inform and involve parents in their child’s ongoing learning and development.
Primary School Years 1 –6
Our curriculum has been developed within the transdisciplinary framework of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP). It nurtures children’s natural curiosity through ‘Units of Inquiry’ and provides ongoing opportunities to explore, acquire essential knowledge and skills, as well as goal-setting and reflection habits. Our inquiry-based programme builds communication and socialisation skills and prepares students for future learning.
The transdisciplinary themes of the PYP are:
Who we are
Where we are in place and time
How we express ourselves
How the world works
How we organise ourselves
Sharing the planet
Music
Visual arts
Bahasa Indonesia
Physical education
Swimming
In Year 1, our students engage in five Units of Inquiry, while students in Years 2 to 6 complete six units each year. These units involve exploring, researching, and investigating central ideas. We enrich their learning with regular excursions and field trips. In Year 6, our Primary Years Programme culminates with the PYP Exhibition. During this exhibition, students embark on an in-depth, collaborative, and transdisciplinary inquiry process where they identify, investigate, and design solutions for real-life, local, or global issues.
In Primary School, we focus on the building blocks of education – literacy and numeracy in addition to offering specialist single subject classes to give our students every advantage as they progress through their education.
Lower Secondary Years 7 –9
Our Lower Secondary caters for students in Years 7 to 9 and promotes opportunities for an increasing level of independence in learning and decisionmaking. Our challenging and creative academic programme helps students build the skills and understanding needed to meet the demands of secondary while continuing to inspire a thirst for learning.
The Cambridge Lower Secondary is a world-class education programme for learners in Years 7 to 9 which encourages critical and reflective thinking as students begin to understand and embrace the connections between traditional subjects and the real world. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a rigorous pre-university course of study that encourages students to be knowledgeable and inquiring, to develop intercultural understanding and open-mindedness, and to respect and evaluate a range of points of view.
The course is presented as six academic areas enclosing a central core. Students study two modern languages, a humanities or social science subject, science, mathematics and optionally one of the creative arts.
It is this comprehensive range of subjects that makes the IBDP such an effective and practical course of study to prepare students for university. In each of the academic areas, students have flexibility in making their choices, which means they can choose subjects that particularly interest them and may wish to study further at a tertiary level.

Due to a range of reasons, a student may choose to take the high school diploma pathway rather than following the IGCSE and IBDP course of study. In this case, students undertake a combination of examined and nonexamined subjects at Years 10 to 13 to earn their ACG High School Diploma.
The ACG High School Diploma is accredited by ACG Schools and represents the successful attainment of a total of 24 credits.
