ACG SUNDERLAND
WINGS NEWSLETTER Vol 15, Term Two, Week Four, 22 May 2020
Dear ACG Sunderland Community As we end our first full week back at Sunderland under brick and mortar, the percentage of children now attending is near 90%. Again, thank you for your confidence in our systems to ensure your children are safe at Sunderland. With classes getting back on track [face to face], staff are also getting back to delivering practical lessons, lessons that have been too hard to replicate in a virtual environment. I also wish to remind parents that once we reach 90% attendance face to face in a particular class, then the virtual/hybrid components will cease and the lessons for the day will be found on Blackboard, Class Dojo and perhaps Onenote if your teacher is using this technology. The Government and ACG believe that school is a safe place and therefore, I do ask parents who are still keeping their children at home to consider your decisions. I am also available to discuss this in more detail with you if you wish. Please do not hesitate to call. The entire Collage community is enjoying the new swings that have been built at the rear of the school. In fact, the word is ‘this is the best thing Mr Villars has ever done for Sunderland’. I am not sure I agree with that sentiment however, they are certainly very popular with all our College students.

Everyone has been most complementary of the traffic flow around the school since re-opening and I wish to congratulate everyone on their driving behaviour. We have also decided to continue with the staggered end-of-day times for the Primary. Therefore, from Monday: Lower Primary Year One to Year Three will exit at 3.00 pm Upper Primary Year Four to Year Six will exit at 3.10 pm Primary will also continue to exit from the Preschool side of the school and College through the Main Entrance. We also remind parents that under Level 2 protocols, parents are not able to enter the school buildings. If you wish to discuss your child’s learning, then staff are more than happy to arrange a Zoom meeting at a mutually convenient time. You will have seen/heard some developments with regards sports over this week. Here at Sunderland we are still interpreting the rules and expectations. We believe more clarity will occur next week after announcements are made on Monday. The Whole School Cross Country will not be run at the date scheduled in the calendar, we are not having whole school assemblies therefore, we will not hold this event at this point in time either. The community will be advised of the new date in due course.
Have a wonderful weekend in your extended bubble of ten.
Aspire. Succeed. Respect.

This contest generates House points and the winners will be contributing to this year’s Inter-House competition. In addition, it is a good opportunity for students to display their music or artwork. Therefore, we highly recommend students participate to give their House the best chance of winning. The criteria for this activity can be found on the Sunderland Houses Instagram. 6
