WINGS NEWSLETTER

Vol 15, Term One, Week Five, 28 February 2020

Dear Parents and Friends of Sunderland

On Tuesday, ACG Sunderland held our annual Whole School Athletics day at the Trust stadium. The weather was fantastic, and the children, staff and parents had a brilliant day of running, jumping and throwing. At this early stage, it would appear that some records have been broken, with the final results and certificates being awarded during assemblies next week. I want to just say how very proud I am of the entire school. The participation and supporting of one another was very evident all day, with everyone doing their best.

I particularly want to highlight and thank the Student Leadership Team and Sports Council for all of their work before, during and after the event. They all did a superb job of supporting Mr Keen and Mr Baker who put the whole day of activities together.

Perhaps the most important race of the day was held at the end with the Heads vs Staff vs Leaders relay. I think this year the Heads did well, we even had a cameo appearance from our 2019 Head Boy, Chase Leathard, who ran across the finish line in first place.

As I write my newsletter this week, I know the final touches are coming together for the annual Parents and Friends Picnic being held on Friday from 4.30pm. This year our Enrolments Manager, Lauren Fraser, is overseeing this event and I am sure the weather will play ball and we will have a fantastic event.

Heads vs Leaders vs Staff Relay Race What a brilliant day I experienced at the Whole School Athletics Day on Tuesday! As a helper on the track and field, I saw and felt first hand all the energy, hype and collegiality the school has developed over the years. With the new Houses, all six chants were heard loud and clear, encouraging their fellow students on.

The major race of the day, the Heads vs Leaders vs Staff Relay Race. Who won?

First Place

The Heads: Jack Feng, Shannon Macdonald and Chase Leathard

Second Place Primary Teachers: Karl Bryant, Hayley Riddell, Chris Meadows-Bonner and Scott Richards Third Place The Leaders: Niket Shah, Tyler Glenn, Ethan Brown, David Li, Hamish Patel, Sydney Sharp, Hannah Leach, Aimee Puckey, Caitlin Posa, Henna Khatri, Tiara Siregar, Isabellia Lee
