English Language Support (ELS) Information Which students receive English Language Support? English Language Support (ELS) is for students, in Years 2-11, who need additional support to develop the English language skills needed to access and engage confidently and independently with all areas of the school curriculum.
What is the process?
Identification Based on the enrolment interview and ELS assessment, your son/daughter will be identified as needing pull-out support, in-class support or no additional English language support.
Continued Monitoring Throughout the school year your son/daughter’s English language development will be assessed and closely monitored. At the end of each semester your son/daughter’s ELS needs are reviewed and you will be notified of any changes to their support.
Feedback You will receive feedback on your son/daughter’s English language development throughout the academic year, including; Parent Teacher Student Conferences Written semester reports Student-led conferences (Primary) Digital portfolios (Primary) Students will continue to receive English language support until they are able to acccess the curriculum independently.
How is ELS provided at ACG School Jakarta? We provide two types of English Language Support: Pull-Out support and In-Class support. Pull-Out support is when a student is taken out of mainstream lessons to work with an English language support teacher. The Pull-Out model enables students to have additional targeted lessons, essential for students who are working towards the independent stage of language proficiency. Some students may be on a reduced academic programme during this non-mainstream contact time. For students receiving Pull-Out support there is an additional fee of 36,000,000 IDR per semester. In-Class support is provided by all teachers through well accommodated lessons such as vocabulary assistance, task scaffolding and modified assessments and assignments.
