KINDERGARTEN Learning environment
We believe in creating a learning environment that is child-centered and allows for personalized learning and supports individual interests and motivations. We take inspiration from Reggio Emilia where the environment is calm, organized and rich in materials by using colours and resources from nature. Our learning environment promotes relationships, communication, collaboration and conversation.
The role of the adult
We believe that children and adults are partners in learning. We act as researchers to understand children’s thinking to develop and extend their ideas. We are intentional in our planning for play and inquiry. We provide a wide variety of materials, experiences and activities that help children develop holistically.
Parents as partners
We believe that parents are their child’s first teachers. We encourage our families to take an active role in the education process. We believe that strong relationships with our ACG families promotes positive parent-child relationships, and the ongoing learning and development of children and parents.
We believe that every child is unique and talented, bringing their own skills, knowledge and interests which can be supported and built upon. They are natural researchers, confident and capable of leading and directing their own learning. Our Curriculum
Play
We believe that play is essential for children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Through play, children develop the capacity for creative thinking, problem-solving abilities and social skills. Play and exploration are central to the well-being, development and learning of our ACG students.
Our Kindergarten programme at ACG, incorporates the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP),and play-based learning experiences and inquiry, as the method by which the curriculum is delivered. Our core subjects (Language, Maths and our Units of Inquiry) are complemented by single-subject classes, including Physical Education, Swimming, Visual Arts, Music and Bahasa Indonesia. Our curriculum prepares children with the skills for future learning, while honoring their right to a nurturing, playful environment and learning experience.
