ACG SUNDERLAND
WINGS NEWSLETTER Vol 17, Term One, Week Four, 19 February 2021
Dear Parents and Friends of ACG Sunderland, What a difference a day makes! As I began writing my newsletter today, Thursday 18 February, Auckland returns to some normality, with normal school beginning this morning after we spent three days in lockdown. At this time, I wish to commend all the Teachers and Support staff here at ACG Sunderland, as we again navigated the lockdown rules and expectations, delivering online lessons from the first day, and students the opportunity to come and pick up essential books and materials before the first lessons. I was so very impressed with the quality of lessons from the get-go. Students will have had a temperature check on entering the building over the next two days, with hand sanitiser at the doors of each hallway and/or classroom, as face-to-face lessons started on Thursday. The same rules apply again regarding zoom lessons going forward. We call these’ hybrid lessons’, where there is face to face and zoom lessons taking place at the same time. This will only occur when there is less than 90% of students in the classroom. Therefore, we do strongly encourage all children to attend face to face lessons. We must have confidence in the Government’s decision to move to Alert Level Two for Auckland. They must feel the ring fence around the Papatoetoe cluster is robust and the rest of the community is now very safe.
OPEN DAY SATURDAY 6 MARCH FROM 10.30AM TO 2.30PM
ACG Sunderland 09 838 7070 6 Waipareira Ave, Henderson, Auckland
Due to the uncertainty of our current Alert Levels, ACG Sunderland has made the decision to postpone our Annual Picnic, which should have taken place next Friday. At level two, groups of over one hundred cannot take place so, therefore, we will try and reset the date for later this term. There may well be other frustrations and disappointments moving forward, but we must just accept these in these tricky times we find ourselves in. Take care everybody.
Aspire. Succeed. Respect.

Value for Next Week: Patience Patience is a person's ability to wait something out or endure something tedious, without getting riled up. ... Having patience means you can remain calm, even when you've been waiting forever or dealing with something painstakingly slow or trying to teach someone how to do something and they just don't get it.

New club for College students: Rōpū Sunderland On Wednesday, 10th February, a new after-school club started for College students. The name of the club, Rōpū Sunderland, translates to Sunderland Group. The group will learn about all things Māori and will be equally suitable for those who want to learn more about the Māori culture and those who are already familiar with tikanga Māori.
In Term One, students will create and practise their pepeha, translate the school song into te reo Māori, create and learn a Sunderland Haka and learn some Māori songs and stories. We are very fortunate to have an external provider delivering the content of the programme. The club will run from 3.20-4.50pm each Wednesday, and it is intended that students attend each week so they can follow the programme. If you would like to know more about Rōpū Sunderland, or to register interest on behalf of your child, please email megan.davies@acgedu.com

Lunch Orders – From Libelle It's been a busy week for Lunch Orders and we hope everyone liked their yummy lunches! We would like to inform parents that we are currently not providing juicies, moosies or calciyums to ACG Sunderland. If the school is 'water-only', other drinks that are ordered will be substituted for a drink or item of equal value. We would like to thank everyone for the amazing support we've had within the school community of ACG Sunderland as we continue on this new adventure to serve our hungry learners with delicious and nutritious food! You can order your child's yummy and healthy lunches at www.lunchorders.co.nz. Cut off time for ordering same day is at 8.30am. If you have any questions, please reach out to the Lunch Orders team via email on lunchorders@libelle.co.nz or flick a message on the Lunch Orders FB Messenger. Happy Lunch Ordering! 7
