½ cup cocoa powder 4 eggs 1 cup standard flour ½ cup chopped raspberry liquorice 1 cup chocolate cookie chunks
Method 步骤 Preheat oven to 180°C bake. Line an 18 x 28cm sponge roll tin with baking paper. Melt butter in a saucepan large enough to mix all ingredients in. Mix in cocoa, remove from heat and stir in sugar. Add eggs and mix well, then add vanilla essence. Sift in flour and baking powder and mix to combine. Mix in chopped raspberry liquorice, chocolate drops, chocolate cookie chunks. Pour into prepared tin. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until brownie springs back when touched lightly. 5

Miss Sealy won the class a set of cricket bats and balls from the ICC Womens World Cup Team. 1CS keep collecting and winning Kiwi Guardians Medals on our weekly walks.

“挥手告别2021" 2021 has been a whirlwind of a year, and to kiss term four, and this school year goodbye, The Students Voice is doing a series on 2021 called “Good Riddance 2021.” Members of the Students Voice will be expressing their opinions of 2021 and how they felt being in lockdown for such a long period of time. This series will continue until the final newsletter and explore many different viewpoints on the rollercoaster ride that was this year. After all, through the good, the bad, the exciting, the boring, and the traumatizing, we had words to sort our thoughts, we had pages to fill with emotions and we had each other. So now, we are sharing our words with you, but we can all agree, the main message is “Good Riddance 2021”!

Aileen 对 2021 年的感想 I am very certain that 2021 has been a very rough year for most of us. The COVID-19 situation became worse throughout the year, as the numbers of cases grew each day as well as lockdown getting extended. This year, we weren’t able to attend school as much as we had planned, which disappointed me. I still remember the time when COVID cases suddenly started to appear again in New Zealand during term 3. I doubt anyone had expected this plot twist in our lives. At first, I couldn't believe we had to restart lockdown because everything was going great. I had no idea something like this could happen. Unfortunately, lockdown began, and we started our zoom lessons online. Despite the uncertainty, I did my hardest to put out my best effort in my subjects as I was still working towards achieving my 2021 goals. I could tell I was getting used to this new lifestyle as the days passed, and things started to loosen up. I even tried a lot of new things, and I suppose I've discovered my new hobby. Lockdown, in my opinion, isn't always a terrible thing. I think lockdown gave me opportunities and time to try new things and helped me discover new things that I enjoyed doing. Overall, I think 2021 has been one of the worst years and I hope nothing similar to this will happen in 2022. I hope everything will turn out perfectly fine for next year with no COVID cases or lockdowns. Let’s hope for the best for 2022. Dear 2021, you will not be missed but you will be remembered.

Akarsh对2021年的感想 2021 has definitely been a difficult year, especially with our unexpected 3-month lockdown. I have mixed feelings for this lockdown. On the good side I got to be more relaxed and sleep more, but on the bad side I had to be on a laptop for a long time every day because I had online classes for school. There were some small lockdowns in the beginning of the year but those were only one weeklong, so it wasn’t that bad compared to the current lockdown. I also had my birthday during lockdown. I really wanted to make the most of it, so I had a small online party, and it was so fun! I got to meet my friends after a long time and play some games which is also what I get to do more with my family now. In the weekends we like to play games and watch movies and since I have no classes because we are in lockdown, I can do anything the whole weekend which is something I love. Other than the lockdown, 2021 has been a great year for me. It was my first year in ACG Sunderland and I am really stoked to be at this school and a part of the community. There were some great highlights of this year for me at school; such as the athletics day, cross country and swimming sports. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to play my last part of the cricket season due to the lockdown, and I missed out on a bit of my badminton season as well. Overall, I think 2021 was an incredible year, let’s hope 2022 is just as good and better!

A few years ago, I attended a mates birthday party. It was held at Rainbows End; it was my first time there, and my first time going on a roller coaster. Don’t ask me anything about that trip, all I could say is that my whole day was ‘BILIOUS.’ There’s a new word for you; look it up. However, I’m not getting off topic here: 2021 for sure felt like a roller coaster – I’m sure you have heard of this metaphor before, it’s one of the most basic sentence starters. Regarding the weeklong lockdown at the start of the year, I was prepared. We went through this last year; the procedure and guidelines are set - everything is expected. I used this time to go through my plans for the year - a trip to Europe maybe? Uhm, that might not happen, but that didn’t stop me from exploring different locations around my suburb by foot or on my bike. My physical wellbeing has patently improved throughout this period, nothing beats being athletic! The transition from lockdown to school was rather easy for me, it was simply like a holiday. Except, masks were put on, sanitizing procedures and social distancing was introduced (although, no one followed that). Making sure I would study and revise for the exams in Term 4 was something I had in mind, but I wasn’t really motivated back then, and, in the end, they didn’t even go ahead! Luckily enough, I had the opportunity to represent the school in badminton. Being the captain of the Junior-Boys’ badminton team, I could say we were loaded with talented players and I’m extremely proud of how everyone’s dedication had a huge impact on how we played! Overall, I would say those times were the unforgettable moments of 2021, not knowing if it could be your last time seeing your friends and teachers in real life in 2021. I hope people can get vaccinated ASAP and try stop the spread of the virus; instead of protesting and throwing riots!
