The Lower Primary trophy went to Yomal Navaratne 3HAS this week Year 3 Overnight Camp – Kelly Tarltons
All Year 3 students went for sleepover at Kelly Tarlton's on Friday 21st October, and it was a massive hit! Kids got to feed fish, had a tour, had a delicious supper, and got to sleep in the fish tunnels and finally had breakfast. It was the most amazing experience of this year.
Charlie Whalan and David Viner from 2ZOU.
Everything they have been learning at school with maths, especially money this year has been taught so well and it showed today.
They made a lemonade stand and between the two of them made $111.00 profit. Everything they did, they did themselves from squeezing the lemons to pouring the lemonade, adding up order values in their heads and counting out the change correctly.
So thank you ACG Sunderland for everything you have been teaching them, their first attempt at a business went extremely well as a result!
Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream is a play about many things like love, magic, comedy, and jealousy. But one of the most important aspects of the play is love. There are 5 different couples with their own twists and turns but today we will only explore 3. Helena and Demetrius, Hermia, and Lysander, and finally Oberon and Titania.
One form of love in this play is unrequited love. This is shown in the relationship between Helena and Demetrius. “I’ll follow thee and make a heaven of hell, to die upon the hand I love so well.” This quote by Helena shows how much she loves Demetrius, and how she would follow him no matter where he goes. This is shown in this quote “I love thee not, therefore pursue me not.” This shows how Demetrius does not love Helena and despises her. Helena does not hold herself to a high standard, unlike Demetrius who thinks he is very important. Helena loves Demetrius, but Demetrius does not love Helena. This love is one sided and unrequited.
In the case of Oberon and Titania, their love displays how both partners can be broken up over jealousy. An example of this is when titania said “What, jealous Oberon? Faries skip hence: I have foresworn his bed and company.”. This shows how Oberon is jealous of titania for not spending time with him but instead with the changeling boy. Titania then goes on to say that Oberon has a mistress which is shown in this Quote here "Your buskined mistress and your warrior love”. This shows that Oberon's mistress is Hippolyta. But Oberon retaliates by saying “Knowing I know thy love Theseus?”. This shows how many problems can be formed by the forgeries of jealousy. Another form of love presented in the midsummer night's dream was returned love. This love was with Hermia and Lysander. From Athens is her house remote seven leagues, and she respects me as her only son. There, gentle Hermia, may I marry thee,” This quote by Lysander shows that he loves Hermia and is willing to leave Athens for her just to marry her. “Tomorrow truly will I meet with thee.” This shows that Hermia is willing to go with him and leave Athens in the name of love. This shows that in this relationship the love is returned and both characters are willing to go long way just to be with each other.
In conclusion, in the play ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, Shakespeare presents the audience with love in various ways like Jealous love, Returned love, and unrequited love. He effectively uses a number of different techniques in his presentation of love, for instance, verse, dramatic irony, rhyming couplets, and monologues. I find Shakespeare’s treatment of Hermia and Helena is particularly effective because They mirror each other. Hermia has returned whereas Helena has unreturned love. Hermia is very happy with herself whereas Helena thinks she is ugly because Demetrius doesn’t like her but instead likes Hermia.
