ACG SUNDERLAND

WINGS NEWSLETTER

Vol 14, Term Three, Week Two, 2 August 2019

Dear ACG Sunderland Community I hope you all enjoyed getting feedback from your children’s teaching staff at the Parent/Teacher interviews this week. They are meetings, and if you ran out of time or missed a Teacher due to their ill health, then What’s in important this issue: please make contact directly. As we have been exploring how the new Houses are going to fit into the Sunderland community, it has forced us to look at work done previously with regards the ‘Sunderland Way’ a document that encapsulated our six core values, the Moto, our logo and House colours. This foundation symbol is still as relevant today as it ever was and students have been focusing on the school history. ‘The Sunderland Way’ The most important aspects of our school are incorporated into the Sunderland Way, which acknowledges that learning is the core business of the school.

Our logo… The Wings represent the Sunderland Flying Boats and the core values have been added to this. There is a special connection with the values and the wings as the Sunderlands were used mainly as a search, rescue and aid delivery to the Pacific Islands. The values demonstrate the qualities of those involved in the Air Force Rescue service. The school motto is included. The colours of the Houses have been included in the design.

House Sing Off House Sing Off is right around the corner. All four houses are getting ready to compete against each other. They are getting their actions ready, the props and most importantly making their voices sound beautiful.

New Houses? How do you feel about the two new Houses: Whenuapai and Waitakere? Mixed feelings about these two Houses are being shown.

Exams are coming up! Mock exams for seniors and extended Year 10 students are in Week 7 this term! You have to start studying for these exams as they are very important for your future. Remember try not to get distracted and focus on the work.
