PROTOTYPICAL CONSTRUCT Brief: Building on your exploration of room-relations, superimpose two constructs as a synthesis or antithesis.
In my research, I explored the concept of overlapping and traceable geometries in room-to-room relationships. The theme that unifies the antitheses of these forms lies in deception. The lack of exterior windows suggest a dark enclosure, but the continuous atrium and skylights contrast this.

COLLECTIVE FORM: Using your prototypical construct insights, construct a public building across the El Cerrito del Norte BART Station with programs including a community library, public meeting rooms, and social services.
Building upon my exploration of antithesis interior and exterior definitions, I created an archipelago of interior programs supporting a massive cantilevered beam. 6

ALBERS FOLLY
Rudabeh Pakravan ARCH 11B STD: Assignment 1
Brief: Extrapolate a planometric relationship between figure and ground from a chosen painting to serve as a basis for defining planar and sectional spatial spaces.
I-S VV II, 1971 Josef Albers
The central parallelogram is the primary focus of the painting, so the hatched pattern highlights the central passageway. The angles and shades of the painting radiate, in which my model strictly follows the angles and expanding feature. 10

BEDROOM REPRESENTATION
Rudabeh Pakravan ARCH 11B STD: Assignment 2
Brief: Practice visual representation of spaces by drawing your bedroom and the corresponding path to get there as developed surfaces or section perspective.
Hatch pulled from the previous assignment is used to demonstrate my path to my bedroom in Berkeley. Details in my spaces of the bedroom are personal and relative, contrasting the extremely simplified objects of my roommates.

ALBERS DUPLEX DU*PLEX: Building on the first assignment, develop your project into a duplex housed by two businesses: Funky Door Yoga and the Artist and Craftsman.
Rudabeh Pakravan ARCH 11B STD: Assignment 3 My circulation converges to a central trapezoid shaped gathering space inspired by the central parallelogram of the original painting. From there, the program can shift from public to private by spatial expansion upon passing through an aperture in the primary wall. This idea is emphasized through hatch.

This project aimed towards creating a more unified and opportunistic community through transit-oriented development.
The proposed design would add in bike lanes to promote more sustainable transport, and improved services would encourage economic growth and prosperity in the vicinity. Maps indicate bike lanes and context spaces. Transit Hub and Simulation Board Pieces Detail
17
As a result, our final proposed plan for the city was to redesign the station and surrounding parking area, making it more accessible and pedestrian-friendly.

Urban Confluence Design Competition
Brief: Create an iconic landmark for the City of San Jose which embodies symbols of hope, healing, and human connection. It should be a compelling and world-class experience for tourists and the local community.
re [LINK] expresses the push and pull of social connection and disconnection created by technology within our urban society. The landmark is intended to promote social interaction through a reading and conversational space while critiquing our relationship with technology.
19
The tall concrete tree with the open library serves as a central hub. The vined passages and pavilions, setback from the base of the tree, serve as interactive spaces.

CAVE
David Orkand ARCH 11A STD: Final Assignment 1
PROJECTED MODULATION: Create a final configuration using eight former cubes made through a variety of cuts and color projection in multiple views (primary auxiliary, secondary auxiliary, etc.).
This first assignment accompanied with two oblique drawings, explored traditional methods of drafting and visual representation. This iteration embodies the idea of the cave through an earthy natural color and a connection of internal voids.
21
CHANNEL
David Orkand ARCH 11A STD: Final Assignment 2
SPATIAL CONSTRUCT: Using the cube from Assignment 1, construct a folly by choosing interesting forms and walls to invert as voids or solids. Add a plinth and circulation path in the structure.
Digital models of the final iteration were created in Rhino and drawings were created in Illustrator. For the physical model, pieces were exported to Illustrator to be printed and assembled. This folly follows the theme of a channel, as the stairs and spiraling projection of color hint at a flow through the space.
