SEASON

A NOTE FROM TONY

This past year, we had Dr. Ruth on our stage. Not just a play about Dr. Ruth, but the real Dr. Ruth, who came to see the show and do a Q and A afterwards. It was an amazing thing. It was, in many ways, a small miracle (and not just because of the good doctor’s diminutive stature!). But then again, in my seven years as Artistic Director I’ve come to learn that at Act II Playhouse we actually seem to specialize in small miracles. Like taking huge musicals and making them fit elegantly on our stage; like engaging in a dynamic way with loyal subscribers at show after show after show; and even like attempting to quell the scourge of cell phones going off during performances with funny announcements (we’re still not at 100% yet folks but keep helping us reach our goal!). C.S. Lewis said once, “Miracles are a retelling in small letters of the very same story which is written across the whole world in letters too large for some of us to see.” I’m pretty sure Mr. Lewis was never a subscriber, but it sure sounds like he gets what we’re trying to do here on our little stage in Ambler. l hope you’ll join us for another season of small miracles.
