THE CREATIVE TEAM Jake Blouch (Dennis) is thrilled to be back at Act II, having previously appeared in Unnecessary Farce and Man of La Mancha. Other credits include Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf (Theatre Exile), See What I Wanna See (11th Hour Theatre Company), Arthur and the Tale of the Red Dragon (People’s Light), Three Sisters, A Little Night Music, Superior Donuts (Arden Theatre Co) Assistance (Wilma Theater), As You Like It, Emma, The Liar, Henry V, New Jerusalem (Lantern Theater Company). Lots of Love to Sophie. Brian McCann (Philip) is delighted to be performing at Act II for the first time. He has recently been seen in The War of the Roses and The Explorers Club at Delaware Theatre Company Other recent credits include: He Who Gets Slapped at the Philadelphia Artist Collective, Death of a Salesman at Curio Theater Company, The Second Mrs. Wilson with George Street Playhouse, and Baby Doll with The McCarter Theatre. Next up; All’s Well That Ends Well with The Philadelphia Artist Collective. Stephen Novelli (Sterling): Act II Playhouse debut. A company member at People’s Light since 1974, he is currently an Artistic Associate and recently played Clarence and Stanley in its production of Richard III. Other recent roles at People’s Light: Vagrant/ Postmaster in The Cherry Orchard, Pete in How to Write A New Book For The Bible, and Kaufmann in Bach At Leipzig. His most recent appearance was
as Owen Matthiessen in 39 Views at The Lantern Theatre, where he also played Mick Dowd in A Skull in Connemara (with Jake Blouch) a few years ago. David Bradley (Director )is a director, producer and teaching artist whose work includes making plays, leading a range of boundary-crossing artistic collaborations, and exploring civic and community themes through the arts. He’s delighted to return to Act II, having directed According to Goldman and Unnecessary Farce here. Most recent projects include directing A Fierce Kind of Love, produced by Temple’s Institute on Disabilities, which played to a sold-out run in Philadelphia last spring; writing and directing Voices of Voting for the Committee of Seventy during the DNC; and co-producing the album A Day in My Life with LiveConnections, for which he is Founding Director. A long-time company member at People’s Light, his more than 30 productions include Row After Row, Of Mice and Men, The Crucible, A View From the Bridge, Young Lady From Rwanda, Doubt and The Giver. David is Artistic Director of Living News, which in 2017 begins its 11th season of dramatizing Constitutional issues at the National Constitution Center and has directed frequently at Indiana Rep and with Philadelphia Young Playwrights. David is a participating artist with Outside the Wire, which creates theater projects addressing public health and social issues. He teaches at Arcadia University, is a graduate of Yale University and lives in Mt. Airy with sons Jacob and Noah and wife Margaret. In honor of Sam Berman, who valued stamps, but valued people more. Theresa Rebeck (Playwright): New York productions of her work include Dead Accounts, Seminar, Mauritius, The Scene, The Water’s Edge, Loose Knit, The Family of Mann, Spike Heels, Bad Dates, The Butterfly Collection, Our House, The Understudy, and View of the Dome. Omnium Gatherum (co-written, finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 2003) was featured at the Humana Festival, and had a commercial run at the Variety Arts Theatre. Her newest work, Poor Behavior, premiered at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles in 2011. In television, Ms. Rebeck has written for Dream On, Brooklyn Bridge, L.A. Law, American Dreamer, Maximum Bob, First Wave, Third Watch, and she created the NBC drama Smash. She has been a writer/producer for Canterbury’s Law, Smith, Law and Order: Criminal Intent and NYPD Blue. Her produced feature films include Harriet the Spy, Gossip, and the independent features Sunday on the Rocks and Seducing Charlie Barker, an adaptation of her play, The Scene. Awards include the Mystery Writer’s
of America’s Edgar Award, the Writer’s Guild of America award for Episodic Drama, the Hispanic Images Imagen Award, and the Peabody, all for her work on NYPD Blue. She has won the National Theatre Conference Award (for The Family of Mann), and was awarded the William Inge New Voices Playwriting Award in 2003 for The Bells. Mauritius was originally produced at Boston’s Huntington Theatre, where it received the 2007 IRNE Award for Best New Play as well as the Eliot Norton Award. Ms. Rebeck is originally from Cincinnati and holds an MFA in Playwrighting and a PhD in Victorian Melodrama, both from Brandeis University. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two children. Sam co-founded Dancing With The Students, a non-profit that offers ballroom dancing to low socio-economic schools, is a nine time Barrymore Nominee, and received the 2014 and 2015 Barrymore Awards for Outstanding Choreography/Movement. Lauren Davenport (Properties) is a native of Pennsville, NJ and has previously worked with Delaware Shakespeare Festival, the Wilmington Drama League, and the Women’s Theatre Company of New Jersey. She is a carpenter, electrician, occasional actor, freelance genealogist, playwright, and member of the Dramatist Guild. Recently, she directed The Reinvention of Lily Johnson at Asian Arts Initiative and performed her original solo performance, Waking Dreams, with Beacon Theatre Productions. She received her MA in Theatre from Villanova University and her undergraduate degree in Drama, English, and Creative Writing from Washington College. Pat Sabato (Stage Manager) has been stage managing in the Greater Philadelphia area theatres for 19 years. She is elated to be working at Act II with the creative people who built and who sustain Mauritius. Her love to her family and friends who provide joy in the world every day, especially Edmund.
