Recycled glass becomes a luxury item : Bvlgari and MVRDV creative recycling ❑ The MVRDV studio designed a glass façade

from recycled bottles inspired by Shanghai's art deco architecture.

❑ Inspired by both the brand's original store in

Rome and the art deco architecture of Shanghai, the project is innovative and sustainable while remaining true to the heritage of Bulgari and the Chinese city.

❑ The façade is complemented by a gilded bronze

cladding that reinforces the link to the world of jewelry. The project demonstrates the potential of recycled materials, even in a luxury context, and furthers MVRDV and Bulgari's goal of creating spaces using 100% circular materials.

Amazon uses machine learning to reduce packaging waste ❑ Amazon have managed to reduce their per-

shipments packaging weight by 36%, which has eliminated more than a million tons of packaging, after initiatives were introduced using AI to tackle packaging sustainability.

❑ The company described how it was using

Machine Learning and natural language processing combined with computer vision to find out how to use the right amount of packaging per package.

❑ Amazon says that this initiative is part of its

commitment to the Climate Pledge and comes after sustainable insulated packaging was launched in November 2021 made from recycled paper. It also aims to deliver 50% of all shipments with net-zero carbon by 2030.

Aldi opens first supermarket without checkout ❑ Aldi are trialling its first checkout-free

supermarket in Greenwich, London, where customers will not have to scan their items to pay.

❑ The trial is following moves made by

Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Amazon and will allow customers to pay automatically via an app. Hi-tech cameras will be used to track customers and age estimation will be used to allow customers to buy alcohol.

❑ This type of shopping has been hailed as

‘the future of retail’ after being started by Amazon in 2018 and being adopted by certain British stores since, although only on a small scale.

KAO recycles used cosmetics bottles into new ones ❑ Kao Corporation is initiating field tests to

recycle used cosmetic bottles that have been collected, and re-process them into new bottles utilizing the BRING Technology chemical recycling technology of Jeplan Inc.

❑ The aim of the initiative is to succeed in

recycling cosmetic bottles made of plastic and, ultimately, to achieve the circularity of plastic in society.

❑ In the future, Kao also intends to increase the

scale of collection by using the know-how obtained from the current field tests to achieve a social implementation of plastic cosmetic bottle recycling as soon as possible.

Ambre Solaire 3D mockups

Altavia Hellas created and delivered 3D mockups for Ambre Solaire by using 3D printing to create real life dimensional mockups for the new product variants. These mockups will be used to form the spaces in the product display through vacuum process.
