with adverts and information about upcoming Christian and church events and business services to keep Christians in business and ministry well informed about the latest happenings in their chosen calling or line of business or trade.

MEAN? ACUMEN ; (ˈækjʊˌmɛn, əˈkjuːmən) The word is a Latin word from the 1530s which means "a point, sting," hence "sharpness, shrewdness," from acuere "to sharpen" . ACUMEN is the ability to judge well; keen discernment; insight ACUMEN means quickness, accuracy, and keenness of judgment or insight. BUSINESS ACUMEN is keenness and quickness in understanding and dealing with a business situation in a manner that is likely to lead to a good outcome. [1] The term "business acumen" can be broken down literally as a composite of its two component words: Business literacy is defined in SHRM's Business Literacy Glossary as "the knowledge and understanding of the financial, accounting, marketing and operational functions of an organization” [2] The Oxford English Dictionary defines acumen as "the ability to make good judgments and quick decisions". [3] Given these textbook definitions, a strictly literal definition would be "keenness and quickness in understanding and dealing with a business situation”

My Immigra+on background landed me a job here in the USA at the Consulate – General of Nigeria Atlanta, Georgia where I served for over seven years at the Immigra+on and consular desk. Now remember that Communica+on is s+ll my background even though I have also over the years go/en some other professional trainings and licenses along the way. My passion for the media industry became so strong that I finally had to follow my passion. I bid the Nigerian Consulate goodbye and went back to my career in Media and entertainment. I also went back to Arizona State University to study Films and Media Studies. A: What is the IFY SHOW all about?

A:Who is Ify Onochie?

IFY: I am a Nigerian - born, Atlanta based entrepreneur. My love for the media started from childhood. I was very fascinated with Radio and Television and paid much a/en+on to it. This passion drove me to study Mass Communica+on. My opportunity to get involved actually came even before that in 1985 when The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Lagos, Nigeria, West Africa in conjunc+on with The Bri+sh Broadcas+ng Corpora+on (BBC) London opened up training opportunity for Television Script writers. The compe++on was fierce. Thousands of scripts poured in, everyone vying for a chance. As God will have it, I emerged as one of the few winners. AHer the training, I was signed on to write scripts for The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). Bri+sh Broadcas+ng Corpora+on (BBC) also wanted me to work for the African series then but the +ming was not right for me as I wasn’t quite ready to leave the shores of Nigeria. Then known by my maiden name Ifeoma Nneoma Nwonukwue, I wrote over fiHy Television script s for The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Network service over a period of twelve years. In those days, the industry had very li/le room for independent produc+ons so I joined the Nigerian Immigra+on Services as an Immigra+on officer while s+ll wri+ng for (NTA) on a freelance basis. My wri+ng credits include serials like ‘’Second Chance’’, ‘’Tele Movies’’, Tales by moonlight and ‘’Story Land ‘to men+on a few. My produc+on credits include a series on MAMSER public awareness program which I wrote, directed and produced for The Ministry of Internal Affairs, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, now known as Ministry of Interior Abuja.

IFY: I created The Ify Show to strengthen rela+onships and connec+ons between people in the US and other parts of the world especially among the diaspora community. It serves as a plaNorm for building collabora+ons and to foster exchange of ideas at local, na+onal and interna+onal level. The show helps U.S firms develop long term mutually beneficial business rela+onships with Africa, The Caribbean and other parts of the world through raising awareness and exposure of outstanding work from various sectors of the society.

Music that have become so widely popular for example: salsa, jazz, reggae, Calypso, juju , highlife , afro and even rap and so many others did not originate from mainstream America, but were first popular within various ethnic groups. Go to any gym now and see Rhumba and Zumba dance signup sheet, filled to the brim. The same is true of the demand for much of the ethnic Foods such as sushi, salsa, tacos, tor+llas, fried rice, jallof rice, pita, Kish kebabs. The Ify show is designed to recognize, celebrate and maintain these various ethnic cultures within our communi+es. There is no show like ours in the mainstream entertainment industry here in the USA. This show is an excellent compendium of facts about a complex society portrayed in an exci+ng talk show series, profiling people of other cultures and giving them the plaNorm to rediscover who they are and allow the mainstream America to get to know them be/er. Let’s look at what is currently going on in the Nigerian movie industry called Nollywood; their movies are flying off the shelves in the USA. Who is buying them? Interes+ngly, it is People of other ethnici+es!

Our topics are designed to draw a/en+on and visitors to variety of interes+ng ins+tu+ons that exist across Africa, The Caribbean, US and other parts of the world. The guests of The Ify Show will also include everyday people with interes+ng human-interest stories, innova+ve ideas and business models etc A: What is unique or special about what the IFY SHOW does? Look around you. What do you see? You must have no+ced that many emerging ideas for new and exci+ng innova+ons have come from ethnic cultures. In Fashion and styles, ethnic -inspired clothing, shoes and jewelries have taken over the racksbeaded dresses and sandals, gladiators, bohe-

mian style dresses, embroidered clothing, you name it. Even in home furnishing! In show business having an accent has suddenly become an advantage. Bri+sh, Spanish, Italian, even Nigerian accents have become highly a/rac+ve to adver+sing companies.

Unques+onably, there are a growing number of ethnic communi+es that will make ‘’ The Ify show’’ their go-to program to obtain informa+on and share experiences on topics that directly affect their lives. Leveraging mul+cultural opportuni+es is definitely a must do for us. A: How can people watch your show and what type of people do you cater for on your show? IFY: The Ify Show is s+ll going through the process of signing contracts with the various channels for airing. Informa+on will be on our website once contracts are fully executed. www.theifyshow.com

ABOUT SBA Mission Statement The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) was created in 1953 as an independent agency of the federal government to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of our nation. We recognize that small business is critical to our economic recovery and strength, to building America's future, and to helping the United States compete in today's global marketplace. Although SBA has grown and evolved in the years since it was established in 1953, the bottom line mission remains the same. The SBA helps Americans start, build and grow businesses. Through an extensive network of field offices and partnerships with public and private organizations, SBA delivers its services to people throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, the U. S. Virgin Islands and Guam. What We Do Since its founding on July 30, 1953, the U.S. Small Business Administration has delivered millions of loans, loan guarantees, contracts, counseling sessions and other forms of assistance to small businesses. SBA provides assistances primarily through its four programmatic functions: Access to Capital (Business Financing) SBA provides small businesses with an array of financing for small businesses from the smallest needs in micro lending --- to substantial debt and equity investment capital (venture capital). Entrepreneurial Development (Education, Information, Technical Assistance & Training) SBA provides free individual face-to-face, and internet counseling for small businesses, and low-cost training to nascent entrepreneurs and established small businesses in over 1,800 locations throughout the United States and US territories. Government Contracting (Federal Procurement) In keeping with the mandate of Section 15(g) of the Small Business Act, SBA’s Office of Government Contracting sets goals with other federal departments and agencies to reach the statutory goal of 23 percent in prime contract dollars to small businesses. This office also provides small businesses with subcontracting procurement opportunities, outreach programs, and training. Advocacy (Voice for Small Business) Created in 1978, this Office reviews Congressional legislation and testifies on behalf of small business. It also assesses the impact of the regulatory burden on behalf of small businesses. Additionally, it conducts a vast array of research on American small businesses and the small business environment. The Chief Counsel of this office is appointed by the President of the United States.

HYMN HISTORY: It has been stated that only the person who can face the prospect of death realistically is able to live this life with purpose and confidence. Such was the conviction of a rather obscure English pastor, Henry F. Lyte, when he wrote the text for this hymn in 1847, shortly before his own home-going. It has since become one of the favorite hymns for Christians everywhere during times of sorrow and deep distress. Abide with me; fast falls the eventide; The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide. When other helpers fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

Henry F. Lyte was born in Scotland on June 1, 1793. He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland, and was a member of the Church of England all of his life. Throughout his lifetime he was known as a man frail in body but strong in faith and spirit. His health was continually threatened by asthma and tuberculosis.

Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day; Earth’s joys grow dim; its glories pass away; Change and decay in all around I see; O Thou who changest not, abide with me.

Despite his physical frailties he was a tireless worker with an established reputation as a poet, musician and minister. It was he who coined the phrase, "It is better to wear out than to rust out." Wherever he ministered, he was greatly loved and admired by his people.

Not a brief glance I beg, a passing word; But as Thou dwell’st with Thy disciples, Lord, Familiar, condescending, patient, free. Come not to sojourn, but abide with me.

For the last twenty-three years of his life Lyte pastored a poor parish church among fishing people at Lower Brixham, Devonshire, England. During these later years his health became progressively worse so that he was forced to seek a warmer climate in Italy. For the last sermon with his poor parishioners on September 4, 1847, it is recorded that Lyte nearly had to crawl to the pulpit and his message came as from a dying man. His final words made a deep impact upon his people when he said that it was his desire to "induce you to prepare for the solemn hour which must come to all by a timely appreciation and dependence on the death of Christ." On his wayto Rome, Italy, he was overtaken by death at Nice, France, and was buried there in the English cemetery on November 20, 1847.

Come not in terrors, as the King of kings, But kind and good, with healing in Thy wings, Tears for all woes, a heart for every plea— Come, Friend of sinners, and thus abide with me. Heaven’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee; In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

Lyte is said to have written this text along with his own tune shortly before his last Sunday at the Lower Brixham Church. It never became widely used in England until it was first published in a book, Lyte's Remains, in 1850, London. Its first appearance in America was in Henry Ward Beecher's Plymouth Collection in 1855 with the notation that "this hymn was meant to be read and not sung." Later it was discovered by William Henry Monk, music editorof the well-known Anglican Church hymnal, Hymns Ancient and Modern, and it was included in the first edition ofthat hymnal published in 1861.

Thou on my head in early youth didst smile; And, though rebellious and perverse meanwhile, Thou hast not left me, oft as I left Thee, On to the close, O Lord, abide with me. I need Thy presence every passing hour. What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s power? Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be? Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.

Altogether William Monk personally contributed fifty original tunes for the hymnal. It is said that in less than half an hour he composed for Lyte's text a tune named "Eventide." He was inspired by the beauty of a glorious sunset while yet experiencing a deep personal sorrow. In addition to his work as editor of this hymnal, considered by hymnologists to be one of the most important hymnals ever published, William Monk was also choir director and organist at King's College, London.

I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless; Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness. Where is death’s sting? Where, grave, thy victory? I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.

William H. Monk also supplied the music for the hymn, "Look, Ye Saints! The Sight Is Glorious" and "The Strife Is O'er".

Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes; Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies. Heaven’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee; In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me. Henry Francis Lyte - Lyrics 1793-1847

Henry Lyte's text for this hymn was taken from the account of Christ's appearance with the two disciples on the way to Emmaus and their statement, "Abide with us:

William Henry Monk - Composer 1823-1889

for it is toward evening and the day is far spent" (Luke 24:29). Although Lyte did not write a great quantity of hymns, others from his pen include "Jesus, I My Cross Have Taken"

Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.

Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort. Daniel 3:23-29

Psalm 23:4 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. Isaiah 43:2 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men form of the fourth is like the Son of God.. gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire. And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.

As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. thousands of li/le blessings he or she has brought into your life. Remember that, if you’re happy in your rela+onship, your partner is doing a thousand li/le things for you every day to make your rela+onship work. I guess it works both ways.

9 TIPS TO KEEP THE SIZZLE IN YOUR MARRIAGE CHINWE KALU

6. Communicate to share yourself. Don’t keep your likes and dislikes, dreams and fears, achievements and mistakes, or anything else to yourself. If it’s important to you, share it with your spouse. Those are the things couples should talk about when they spend +me together, not the na+onal economy or the other people’s issues. They get to know one another be/er-wholesome communica+on.

Marriage can become a daily boring rou+ne. In fact for many couples that is what it has become. A habit rather than a rela+onship they enjoy. Who is responsible for keeping the sizzle in the rela+onship? I think both par+es are, but a lot of the +me they don’t really know what to do.

7. Life can throw stuff at us. It is important to be there for your spouse when life hits them. The loss of a job, life threatening ill health or the death of a loved one, are all part of life. But it’s important to be suppor+ve when your spouse faces these challenges. Even nonthreatening things like an argument at work, a rough commute, a misplaced key can be ra/ling. Being the voice of calm and reason when chaos strikes is the best you can be at such +mes. Listen to what’s bothering them and offer whatever help you can, even if it’s just sympathy. It will be appreciated.

Any marriage that s+ll has the fire, passion and excitement has taken a lot of work from the man and woman. Here are some +ps for you.

1.

Put God first in your relationship. He is the unseen hand that holds it all together. Problems always come in marriages but with Him in the fore front, they always go away. He will lead, direct, nudge, encourage and protect the marriage because it ma/ers to Him.

2.

4. Show appreciation for your spouse. Let him or her know on a regular basis what it is that you like most about them – what you admire, what makes you proud, what their strengths are in your eyes. Encouraging and suppor+ng each other’s growth over the course of your lives should be an everyday thing.

5.

9.

Small acts of physical intimacy. They could be the hand on the small of the back as you brush by in the hallway, your arm around their shoulder on the sofa, your hand on their thigh when seated side-by-side, holding hands while walking down the street – give your spouse a warm feeling to convey the love and affec+on you feel for him or her. The li/lest touch can be as important, or even more important, than the longest night of sexual in+macy.

Be generous with gifts. Look for any excuse to buy a giH for your spouse. They become material tokens of your love. Birthdays and anniversaries are given. But every other day is another reason to give a giH. Just the right book picked up at the bookstore, a special dessert, a piece of jewelry or clothing you no+ced at the store – anything small or large that tells them you were thinking of them. Leave a love note for them, or send them an SMS at work to “I love you” – again, the li/le reminder that they’re always on your mind will help your spouse feel be/er about themselves and secure in your rela+onship.

Tell your spouse you love him or her. Men like to show their affec+ons by the things they do for their wives and I am sure every wife appreciates the things they do. Ac+ons speak louder than words, but words oHen speak more clearly than ac+ons. Take a moment every now and then to verbalize your feelings for your spouse. A simple “I love you” or “You mean the world to me” can go a long way towards making your significant other feel wanted, cared for, and secure in your rela+onship.

3.

8.

Be fair in your relationship. Look out for one another. Get out of tradi+onal marriage models that no longer work. Make sure you follow the Golden Rule in your rela+onship: do unto your spouse as you would have done unto you. These are the days all hands have to be on deck for household tasks. Don’t have unfair expecta+ons of your spouse.

Top Tips to keep clients coming I was recently asked my top +ps to keep the clients coming. In this ar+cle I share 5 that con+nue to work for me. Here they are:

slow down when you have clients, once you have served your current ones your well will dry up! So keep the water steady with con+nuous, educa+onal marke+ng on the relevant plaNorms!

Give excellent client service. Do your best to exceed your clients’ expecta+ons. If somehow you let them down e.g. through technology failure, apologize and seek addi+onal ways to make things up. If you are in the habit of over-delivering, your hitch can be easily forgiven!

Choose a niche! You have hundreds of compe+tors; a niche will help you stand for something in par+cular and get known Always ask for referrals and repeat for it. When you narrow your focus down to a specific market segment and their pressing needs it is easier to business. It is easier to get these from sa+sfied stand out, a/ract a/en+on and get known. As a specialist your clients than from people you have never served. audience will have more confidence in you and be able to tell Ask your happy clients if they know anyone else others about the work you do. Spice up your niche marke+ng who would like the results you have just helped them achieve. with tes+monials to increase your pulling power and get regular Always have in place an up-sell product or program to present clients! to your sa+sfied clients. Research your target market's needs and give them what they ask for, not what you think they want. Many people who struggle to get con+nuous clients are not giving the market what it wants. You can find out what your audience wants by asking them! Conduct surveys, have chats over coffee or on the phone; join groups and forums and par+cipate in the discussions; visit the Q & A sec+ons of online forums and see what they are asking about; find out what keywords they are searching with online; listen for their common gripes!

In the long term and in a nutshell, this is what will keep the clients coming. Short cuts will not help and there are no magic tools or tac+cs!

This way, you can tailor your solu+ons to their needs and become the answer they seek; a smart way to keep geYng clients!

Go where your target audience is, and con+nue to educate them on the unique value you provide a.k.a. educa+onal marke+ng. Choose your online and offline plaNorms depending on where your prospec+ve clients hang out. This educa+onal marke+ng needs to be on-going, in good weather and bad. If you stop or
