November’s program is “Cottonwood Colors,” which explores cottonwood trees and how they change color in the fall. December’s program is “Gifts from Nature,” where we will explore some of the many gifts nature gives us and make some of our own natureinspired gifts for the holidays. The program will start with circle time, followed by interactive stations and then a short walk to explore parts of Bluff Lake, weather permitting. The same theme is presented twice each month, so please choose from either date. $5 per child per class for advance registration; $7 for day-of. Adults are free! Registration is required. Saint John's Cathedral Choir and Orchestra are joined by the Choir of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and members of the Colorado Chamber Players, for a concert featuring Maurice Durufle's stunning Requiem. St. Andrew's Choir appears under the direction of Timothy Krueger. Lyn Loewi performs on organ, and Ann Marie Liss performs on harp, along with a small chamber orchestra. FULL STEAM AHEAD A Partnership with Adams 12 Stem Schools Beginning in the 2013-2014 school year, the Thornton Arts, Sciences and Humanities Council (TASHCO) is partnering with the Adams 12 STEM schools to promote “critical thinking” and “critical making.” There will be biweekly events to educate students in different aspects of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Denver’s only authentic brass band presents its annual salute to veterans and current members of the armed forces. Rocky Mountain Brassworks is proud to perform Posting the Colors at the Lakewood Cultural Center on Nov. 8 and at the Broomfield Auditorium on Nov. 10. This energetic concert will include patriotic classics, rousing marches and compelling brass arrangements, including powerful adaptations of American Trilogy, Stars and Stripes Forever and The Armed Forces Salute. Start your holiday season at DAVA. Join us for our annual holiday show and sale of original art by DAVA youth and guest artists. DAVA is located at 1405 Florence Street, one block south of E. Colfax Ave. in the Aurora Arts District. The exhibit opens with a reception from 4 - 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6. Works will be on display until Jan. 10, 2014. Youth at DAVA create special works of art year round and this is their contribution to the holiday spirit of giving. Proceeds from this exhibit support year round art programs for youth at DAVA. DAVA is a wonderful destination for handmade holiday gifts. This year, young artists experimented with a wide range of materials and techniques to create original pottery, ceramic tiles, t-shirts and bags with stencil prints, small paintings, prints, wearable accessories and much more. Guest artists will contribute to the selection. You will find treasures to keep or give away! NEWS AND NOTES Think 360 Arts

SCREEN PRINTING RESIDENCY Think 360 Arts Complete Education has coordinated a part-time screen printing residency with Ink Lounge Creative, to be held at Cotton Creek Elementary in November. Activities are scheduled to begin on Monday, Nov. 4, with the first two groups of fourth-grade students and continue Tuesday, Nov. 5, Thursday, Nov. 7 and Friday, Nov. 8. The second week of the residency will expose two new groups to the screen printing process. The dates for the second two groups are Tuesday, Nov. 12, Wednesday, Nov. 13, Thursday, Nov. 14, and Friday, Nov. 15. Students will design and print their very own superhero posters and T-shirt. The first workshop for each group will consist of a screen printing demonstration. Day two, students will design and draw superheroes that will be printed on to posters and T-shirts the last two sessions. Cotton Creek Elementary is located at 11100 Vrain Street, Westminster.
