Design a template for Arkitekt Magazine. The magazine is to be launched in the new year and will be aimed at Architectural professionals, students and amateurs.
Clean cut, high impact, emphasis on geometric shapes, angles and precision.
The identity was designed to symbolise the curvaceous and straight edge angles of the architecture featured in the magazine. The identity can be displayed in two ways. The horizontal orientation is for formal business documents, and the vertical tower approach is used solely for the magazine masthead, and conforms to the grid system.

The covers were designed with a strict 8x8 modular grid system in mind, integrating the identity to create an original image for the Arkitekt brand. The use of minimal type means the image can speak without the clutter which can be associated with most mainstream magazines. The covers are printed on 80gsm semi gloss paper stock.

The ‘Contents’, ‘Feature Build’, and ‘Detailed’ sections were all designed with customised grid systems. A Pantone colour was selected to add originality to the whole project.
A set of guidelines were worked on to develop the template that could be used for differing images and copy. A set of typefaces were also selected to complicate the featured articles content.

The spreads were designed to be easily understable and use actual examples of the grid in action. Subjects covered include selecting the correct typeface and setting up documents for production. A poster design was also considered (on the right) which gives further details on the grid structure.
