BRIEF TITLE Element T-­shirt Graphics The Brief Design and promote a custom typeface for Element skateboards Concept/Proposition Design and promote a custom typeface which can be used across a range of t-­‐shirts for a new line ‘100% Element’ Considerations How can you create designs that will suit both ends of the market? Will you test your designs with the consumer? If so, how? How could this typeface work in a different social context? What research do you need to fulfil the brief, and what is appropriate? Target Audience Element skateboarding executives. Skateboarders, and appreciators of skateboarding fashion. Males aged 16 – 24. (Secondary audience) Tone of Voice The tone of voice should reflect skateboarding and the lifestyle that goes with it.

Background Element Skateboards (originally called Underworld Element Skateboards) is a skateboard manufacturer and surfwear retailer based in Irvine, California. It is a subsidiary of Billabong International. The brand wants to launch a new style of t-­‐shirt graphics using typography only. These will be sold directly from the element web store and initially in skate shops in the UK.

Mandatory Requirements The style is totally up to you but must relate to the 100% element concept. The typeface should be direct and You will be expected to create the promotional materials and style guide as well as propose your ideas for t-­‐shirt graphics. The promotional materials should include a booklet or publication of some kind and a poster. This could also be promoted online and made available to download.

Deliverables The presented typeface in different weights, if necessary, with a style guide attached outlining its proposed use. Publication, Poster, web implementation and t-­‐shirt proposals
