urban connector.

‘connectivity, activation, and interaction’ final project | on progress the application of the ‘Apartemen Rakyat’ scheme as a redevelopment process of Kelurahan Babakan Ciamis, Bandung mentor: Ir. Achmad Deni Tardiyana, M.U.D.D. Babakan Ciamis is expected to be a meeting place for residents of Bandung City to activate socio-cultural-economy-recreational activities in undeveloped areas.

6

The redevelopment is manifested in the form of the application of people’s apartment schemes by building apartments for social class multistrata on the same stretch. This redevelopment process will also organize the environment for the better so as to increase the usability of the land, as well as being the answer to the problems of housing backlogs that occurred in Bandung.

GROUND PLAN

7

social apartment. Social apartments answer the needs of the indigenous people of Babakan Ciamis as affected residents. As part of the law of correspondence, residents who are mostly low-income people get units that are in accordance with their previous conditions. Communities also get adequate social and public facilities. Economic facilities are also provided so that the welfare conditions of the people will increase. The quality of social apartments is also confirmed to be the same as commercial apartments, but with little difference to improve efficiency. Indirectly, the quality of life of the Babakan Ciamis community will also increase.

8

9

commercial apartment. Commercial apartments are the answer to the issue of lack of exposure in this region. With the existence of attractive apartments and commercial facilities, it indirectly attracts residents of Bandung City to come to Babakan Ciamis. Babakan Ciamis will be an active area. Commercial apartments are reserved for middleupper society to create a multi-strata community with social apartments. This multi-level community will also encourage more inclusive interactions without putting aside social classes. Thus provided transition zones in the form of plazas, street-food areas, and social-public facilities to support the activities of the two different strata.

‘an anthology for those who want to meet soon’ architectural design studio v | 4th year project design of a mixed-use building on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Bandung mentor: Ir. Indra Budiman Syamwil, M.Sc., Ph.D. We aim to design a mixed-use building with the main theme of permeability for pedestrians. Mixed-use in the form of residential and commercial functions is a necessity in order to create 24-hour life in prime locations such as Jalan Ahmad Yani, Bandung so that the facilities that have been designed adequately can be used properly. Access to the surrounding environment should not be left cut off, especially for pedestrians as the main commodity of the future. Moreover, the Kosambi Market, Greko Creative Hub, housing in Cipaera, and commercial facilities in the vicinity can support the occurrence of mixed-use development.

12

Concentration of green space

Concentration of activities

Physical Permeability

Visual Permeability

The concept of physical permeability is mainly applied to the ground floor. The circulation is designed to connect the points of social activity in the community today is in the form of commercial activities on Jalan Ahmad Yani and Cipaera, access from Jalan Malabar, and Cipaera housing.

Visual permeability is applied to the podium floors. On the ground floor, there is overall access to see from the tip of the tread to the other end. Visual relationships between floors are made to the maximum by applying void and grand stair. The presence of visual permeability can improve social control and facilitate interaction.

In order to attract attention, the concentration of activity is created as a node that has a plaza as a means of interacting.

This is the maximum mass that can be formed only by reducing the site with the building boundary line.

At two points, the period is subtracted with the limitations in the form of GCA and the needs of the plaza as an area of interaction.

The mass on the ground floor is then raised by a number of podium floors.

To respond to the borderline and human scale, and to make the mass more dynamic, several points are subtracted and functioned as additional green space.

Tower in the shape of 2 letters L made by considering the mass of the podium in order to still have an effective area.

To reduce the heat island, there is green space engineering on several tower floors.

Most buildings face directly to the west and east so as to reduce the heat of the sun, a second facade in the form of fins is used. The vertical fins are also intended to reinforce the impression of a tall building so that the building does not look bulky.

Facades are played by distinguishing the distance between lines on each side so as to create a dynamic impression and avoid boredom. Open roofs overgrown with shady trees to reduce the heat island and create a good microclimate.

grha daivara. ‘better way, better day’

architectural design studio v | 4th year project design of a residential environment in Sukaluyu, Bandung mentor: Ir. Indra Budiman Syamwil, M.Sc., Ph.D. The idea of a housing redevelopment to improve the quality of life, while increasing density as part of efforts to face the growing demand for housing, such as in Sukaluyu, Bandung, was outlined in the design of this regional master plan. The issue of the lack of equal distribution of public and social facilities is a major concern. Small area open spaces are considered to be expanded to increase social interaction between residents.

‘let’s be active in being creative’ architectural design studio iv | 3rd year project design of an innovation hub on Jalan Rancabentang, Bandung mentor: Dr. Ir. Moch. Prasetiyo Effendi Yasin, M.Arch., M.A.U.D. The creative milieu atmosphere that enjoyed by youth today needs to be accommodated through an innovation hub. Youth are required to be more creative and productive. This is supported by the location in Rancabentang, Ciumbuleuit, Bandung, with sloping land that is used to create an area to encourage youth to be more active in moving, thinking, and working.

24

Two rectangles are placed in L-shape according to the area that can be built.

Extra square masses are added to fill the still rest.

One of the square mass is tilted parallel to the Qibla according to the building’s function.

Each mass has then added the floor in accordance with the predetermined function.

The masses are then connected with the bridge to make then look united.

‘a flash that attracts attention’ architectural design studio iv | 3rd year project design of a midrise hotel on Jalan Pasirkaliki, Bandung mentor: Dr. Ir. Moch. Prasetiyo Effendi Yasin, M.Arch., M.A.U.D. To support tourism in Bandung, it needs inns in the form of hotels in the city center such as Jalan Pasirkaliki. Hotels must be designed with a good building system approach to accommodate comfortable hotel services.

26

samara.

‘teamwork to meet networks’ architectural design studio iv | 2nd year project design of a co-working space on Jalan Sunda, Bandung mentor: Dr. Agus S. Ekomadyo, S.T., M.T. Nowadays, work is not necessarily done in the office. workplaces tend to have shifted their meaning into a place used to create collaboration. A co-working space on Jalan Sunda was designed as an urban oasis to meet these flexible work needs.

27

pasar rancacili.

‘the market as an authentic and sustainable urban development initiative’ entry competition for Archiray Design Competition collaboration with Bonifasius D. Adrianto, Aries F. Prayoga, Fikri Anam, and Nugraha S. Irsyad Rancacili as a relocation area for residents affected by urban planning has not had sufficient economic activity. However, Rancacili in the Gedebage area will develop rapidly in accordance with the government’s plan to make it a technology center. But this is contrary to the fact that Rancacili is a water park and recharge area in the city of Bandung. As an answer to the problem, a plan is needed that initiates socio-economic activities and is able to maintain the function of the land as a water catchment area. This Rancacili Market will answer the idea with a design concept that has locality, is sustainable, is inclusive, and becomes city acupuncture.

28

Circulation

The location of the site is quite strategic because it is traversed by several large roads and around medium density housing. Tapak can be accessed via Rancacili Street, Derwati Street, and Kebon Jeruk Street.

Vegetation

Site locations are in areas where there are still green open spaces and rice fields.

Market Location in Bandung City

The market in Bandung City is centered in the center of the city, while the eastern part of Bandung is only a small market.

Land Use

Market site is the K3 Trade and Service Zone surrounded by settlement zones. The site is very strategic and will attract people to trade in traditional markets.

Climate

The tropical climate makes the site illuminated by the sun throughout the year with an average temperature of 230-300C, high rainfall, and winds blowing towards the East.

Market Locations in the Gedebage Region

In each sub-district in the Gedebage region has a market. But with a small number of traders and a considerable distance between markets, it has triggered the need for new traditional markets in the Gedebage region.

ISSUES

Relocation area from the city center

Regions have not developed

Market Site Location

The location of the chosen site will respond to existing markets (complementing market needs) and Rancacili Flats with wider coverage.

POTENTIALS

DESIGN STRATEGY Locality The market aims to empower the surrounding community. In addition, the form of the market characterizes the principle of Sundanese building with the use of a roof shape that transforms the roof of ‘jula ngapak’.

Sustainable Design From the aspect of space and environment, Gedebage is a water park area for the city of Bandung, which is a water catchment area of a city. If there is no water park then there will be a flood. Therefore, this market design maintains the function of the land properly.

Inclusivity A friendly design for all circles, realized by the ramp. In addition, this market can accommodate all parties, both local communities, and outsiders when the Technopolis concept is implemented in the Gedebage Region. City Acupuncture The market becomes an economic generator that makes the level of economy increase by exploiting the potential for population growth. Drawn by Bonifasius D. A.

multiguna berkuala.

‘a place for youth to gather, move forward and be creative’ entry competition for Lapangan Multiguna Redesign Competition collaboration with Keshia Simatupang, Aries F. Prayoga, Davin G. Lineker, and Diajeng N. Ramadhanty Lapangan Multiguna is a field that is often used for sports activities. the plan, the field will be developed as an area of collaboration among young people. However, it seems that the current image of the Lapangan Multiguna is still insufficient to accommodate this potential. Thus, a Lapangan Multiguna Berkuala is proposed. Berkuala means the meeting of rivers. It is hoped that this field will become a meeting place for Bekasi youth to explore their potential to produce something that is beneficial to the community.

Entrance

In this area, the issue of originality was raised as shown by showing the Bekasi side as a patriot city. Kujang Monument as a focal point is placed to symbolize heroism. Also equipped with information boards about historical trips and heroes from Bekasi so that visitors learn the identity of Bekasi City. When entering, visitors are greeted by three-dimensional writing that says “LAPANGAN MULTIGUNA to show the identity of the field as well as the shuttle. There is also an area to sit near the existing mosque. This area is made permeable to accommodate the rapid transfer of visitors to other areas.

Sport Field

Concept of flexibility and choice were applied in the design of sport field. The extension from the running track is a transition zone from the main gate to the running track and lawn. In this zone, visitors have the freedom to do normal things that are prohibited from being carried out in running tracks. Here visitors can chat, walk slowly, and interact with other visitors without disturbing. The need for comfort is considered very important to apply. Therefore, small gardens are made as a place to rest, equipped with communal chairs to encourage interaction.

Multifunction Field

On this land, maximum use is very important because the movements and atmosphere change rapidly. With that, we propose forms of space that are terraced, encircled, and open so that they can still be used even though they are different from their initial functions. All physical activity is centered on the Youth Motoric Development area. This creates a crowded atmosphere that is concentrated so that it can cause the same feeling to visitors who see. This integration can lead to a collaborative and explorative atmosphere between sports.

35

Foodcourt and Souvenirs

Bekasi food and souvenirs are centered in the eastern part of the land. This concentration allows for integration between functions but still produces a cohesive work system. The mass of food stalls and souvenirs made two levels responding to the shape of the existing stands. Placing food stalls and souvenirs in the east provides a relatively comfortable space throughout the day. The mass is divided into two parts to ensure air circulation to keep going. Trees are used as room dividers and form oases in them.

Ruang Kolaborasi

The collaboration space integrates the process from upstream to downstream, namely Observing, Ideation, Prototyping and Testing which is provided by a variety of space functions in the building to support the collaboration process. Flexibility is shown in the furniture of the cube mass that can be moved and lifted, and formed and functioned as a stage, a seat, and so on. Choices are indicated by various types of places to create indoor and outdoor spaces.

braga bridge.

‘river oriented development’ First Winner ‘Limited Space’ Design Competition Texture 2019, Yogyakarta University of Technology collaboration with Aries F. Prayoga and Faza N. Sudarwan The river, which should have been the “beginning” of the growth of today’s settlements, has begun to be forgotten. The bridge injects new activities so that the river is no longer the backyard of a city. The city of Bandung has a linear pattern allotment, formed since the beginning of the growth of the city center. This forms a residential area into pockets which are sandwiched between productive functions. This “back” area is uncontrolled and productivity decreases. The back area is an isolated residential area, surrounded by a dense wall of roadside shopping buildings. This bridge is expected to be a new anchor to attract visitors on the main road.

38

Bridge as Public Space and Water Transportation Facilities

h ai ukupi lur si pat ntah kat ai -

Giving multiple functions to the bridge can make the bridge a new anchor for the region. Bridges still overshadow the main function, namely as access to the river crossing, but the provision of additional functions, namely open space and bus stops add to shaded activities, thus giving people a reason to come to the bridge. The bridge is a building of microsized compound functions that can provide a catalyst effect for the region, namely the interaction, small-scale trade activities, the use of the river as a tourist so that it also increases public awareness of the river, as well as public transportation in boats that can minimize the use of private vehicles so give effect to traffic and reduce carbon emissions resulting from movement activities.

Jembatan Sebagai Transportasi Air Drawn by Aries F. P.
