DESIGN CONCEPT _AIR PURIFIER AND COOLER The

the design of an air purifier and cooler.

_DESIGN CHALLENGE To

understand and imply how nature purifies

_SITUATION

_THE CHALLENGE

Air is a vital component in our day to day life and it’s important to inhale clean air as it affects our body in multiple aspects. As of today, when one talks about ventilation they concentrate on how to evenly ventilate spaces. This impure air doesn’t just impact our health but our surroundings as well. Over the past few years due to the increase in air pollution effluents react with rain to release corossive acid rain that damages the skin of animals and destroys the plant’s surface. this is a harmful phenomena that has been occurring in many places in many areas. global warming is an emerging trend. What can one do to reduce it? Carpool can bring down the number of vehicles on the road, use filters to clean out the air to a certain extent, plant more trees -One small step at a time.

EMULATE _DESIGN IDEA The

idea is to create a purifier which also acts like a

system.

The

the

rooftop and the ducts would be drawn to each room.

Air

passes through the ventilators into the purifier which is fixed on the

roof top. the purifier is made up of

layers

outermost layer is a porous layer which filters the macro particles.

- The

innermost

middle layer will be a sponge like layer which absorbs the micro

pollutants like smoke particles and pollen grains. residue.

the purified air comes in contact with protein which opens the

last gate and clean air enters the duct. the needed protein resides in a net like structure and resembles a leaf

Once

it passes all these layers, pure and cooled air is now pushed

throughout the entire ducting thus bringing down the overall temperatures used or hot air is consequently removed via exhaust ducts, as hot air raises. this keeps the circulation on.

to bring in impure air from

outside via these air purifying devices placed on the roof.

_ENERGY PRODUCTION There

are three

2.5KW

solar panels present which provides ample amound of

energy to run the house efficiently throughtout the year.

_WATER SUPPLY The

cove has a rain water harvesting system which has the

capacity to collect

20000L

of rain water which would further

be used for drinking and bathing purposes.

In

case of

emergencies, there is a pipeline connected to the goverment pipelines thereby providing water from there too.

_DRAINAGE A

septic tank is provided in each house which converts the used

water to gray water which can also be used for gardening.
