Exploring the streets of Rajkot, in order to tap the built form of the city and their characteristics, a complex rather funny skyline appeared along the peripheral areas of the city. The "settlements in Transition" had abrupt variations in age, typology, building heights, their conditions & occupancy, which surprised me and gave me a direction to indulge in a research work which incorporated analysis of these settlements, termed as Suchit Societies and further proposing interventions to formalize housing on lands repealed under ULCRA & identified as Transitional areas.
