HO-CHUNK GAMING

TRADITION RUNS DEEP The seats are packed. Next to me is a family who just came from the casino’s buffet while in front of me is a couple of college friends in the Dells for a long weekend. Neither has been here before for this rare, free show but my husband and I look forward to this program each time we are in the area. We’re regulars who have come for the culture, come for the tradition, and for 6 years, each time we’ve sat in this massive and impressive HO-CHUNK GAMING atrium we’ve been wowed. The dancers are covered from head to toe in gorgeous regalia with traditional dress and it has everyone mesmerized. 54

SEE WISCONSIN

Drum sounds begin to be the heartbeat of the show, a nostalgic sight and something that’s been carried as tradition throughout this area since the experience started at an onsite Stand Rock location in the 1950’s. This is one of the most elaborate customs and it doubles as an education session too as the emcee iterates the significance behind each piece of clothing, jewelry, drum technique, dance style, etc. A few seats away parents breathe easy and take everything in, knowing their kids are in KID’S QUEST, Ho-Chunk Gaming’s hourly childcare interactive experience. Laughs consume the lobby

as dancers pull audience members from the crowd to join them, teaching steps and showcasing their beauty – both physique and attire – up close. Dancers exude with pride of their native roots. It’s obvious no matter how many times they perform shows, Memorial Day through Labor Day, Wednesdays through Fridays, and with this year’s lengthened show from 6-7:30PM, they are prepared to dance a million more times demonstrating a life’s worth of emotions in the art of dance and respect for tradition. Due to the current status of the world, our shows are strategically limited. Please check our website and social media for updates. WISTRAVEL.COM
