EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’s UPDATE... Program of work for 2018 is confirmed and your Chamber leadership is working on various events. The first major event is the Business Expo on Thursday, April 5th and we have a new location this year! We will be at the Monterey Station in Cowan to allow more space for you our vendors. We are working on the layout and the registration form will be available February 9th. Booths will be limited! Call and reserve your space as soon as possible. Chairman this year is Kip Commons and Vice Chair is Josh Cole. Our theme is “Lets Make a Deal” . Every exhibitor is encouraged to have a special deal available at their booth.
Leadership Franklin County January 10th, Leadership Franklin County Courts & Public Safety day began at the National Guard Armory. Sergeant Adam Davis provided a brief description of the role of the National Guard and displayed equipment used on active duty. Next the class walked to the 911 & Emergency Management Bunker. Scott Smith Director, provided a tour. Kathy Blazier joined the class in the briefing room for presentation of services provided by 911 & EMA. The tour of the jail by Chris Guess was next, followed by TN Wildlife Resource Agency Josh Hunt. Who can say they had one on one time with District Attorney, Mike Taylor? What an amazing overview of the Criminal Process by DA Mike Taylor! Chili was provided for lunch by Carolyn Montoye-Wiseman. After the delicious lunch the class took a tour of the Judicial Center, Circuit Court, General Sessions Court, and Chancery Court, with presentations from Sheriff Tim Fuller, Judge Tommy Faris and Chancellor Jeff Stewart. The day ended back at the National Guard Armory for wrap up and evaluations.

Leadership Franklin County is quickly coming to a close for another year. The final session is State Government Day on Tuesday, February 7th. The class will board the vans and head to Nashville for a informative day at the capitol. All participants will be welcomed by State Representative David Alexander who provides an overview of the responsibilities of a state representative. Senator Janice Bowling will present the role of a state senator and Secretary of State Tre Hargett, provides an overview of his role in State Government. followed by a tour of the capitol. Next, the class will tour the TN State Library and Archives. Late lunch will be at Dave Van Buskirk’s Dairy Queen in Murfreesboro providing the perfect end to the final session for the Class of 2018. Graduation is scheduled for Thursday, March 15th at Franklin County Country Club. It has been another
incredible year with a fantastic group of professionals and high school juniors. These adults and youth join a group of Leadership alumni that are current and future leaders for our community.
