EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’s UPDATE... What happened & What is happening at your Chamber… The tail end of September and the entire month of October was crammed full with a wide variety of programs and events. Let’s start with “WHAT HAPPENED.”
Manufacturers’ Salute... began with lunch at the Gossick Leadership Center at AEDC. Chairman Doug Pearson, Deputy General Manager, National Aerospace Solutions, and Rob Followell, CEO Southern TN Regional Health System, hosted the presentation
Other activities that happened in October :
Casino Night, Dealer Training, Regional Mixer with Franklin County, Manchester & Tullahoma at UTSI. Franklin County Chamber Manufacturers Roundtable
monthly meeting at the Emergency Management Bunker special thanks to Scott Smith for briefing our industry representatives on what happens in the “bunker”. Scott provided an excellent review of the emergency services provided to our community.
Ribbon Cuttings… Prince Veterinarian Clinic in Estill Springs. Drop by, meet & welcome the Prince family, Melissa (DVM), Jeff and their two sons Luke and Noah.
Mock Interviews… Orientation for seniors at Franklin County High School.
TN Department of Tourism Conference…
and tour. The tour focused on some of the contributions Arnold AFB makes to our Nation's defense and National Aerospace Solutions scope of work. The tour was a more in-depth tour for our manufacturers. Each manufacturer representative was presented a grill set with instructions to relax and take a break from the everyday stress in our fast paced world.
Leadership Franklin County Agriculture Day... A day of exploring the riches of agriculture in our community began with Agriculture Extension Agent Mary Beth Henley. Mary Beth being married to a farmer, working daily at the extension office presented a unique perspective of agriculture in our county and life on the farm. LaDonna Caldwell, Natural Resources Conservation Service District Conservationist presented the importance of rich soil and the services they provide to our local farmers. Next on the agenda was Joe Huffine, Regional director, Franklin Farmers Coop who presented a regional review of agriculture in Tennessee. The Franklin County Farmers Coop is the second largest in the state. After a brief time to explore the massive merchandise at the Coop, we headed to Woodall Grains for a quick lesson in commodities and storage of grains. We left the Woodall Grains and headed for Thompson Appalachian Hardwoods for lunch provided by the Thompson family and a tour of the saw mill and entire operations. Trees arrive at the saw mill and processed into the finest lumber and shipped all over the world! Leaving Thompson Appalachian Hardwoods we headed to one of the last dairy farms in Franklin County, the Yoder Farm in Belvidere. The entire class walked through the mechanical milking barn for a description of the procedure and process for milking the cows. From cows to cotton...we toured an actual cotton gin in Elora. Amazing day for an introduction to life on a farm and more important meeting the amazing people working everyday in agriculture in our community.

Physician Spotlight Southern Tennessee Regional Health System Unveiling New Approach to Healthcare Winchester, TN- Southern Tennessee Regional Health System is proud to announce an innovative new approach to the way we provide healthcare to the community. This change is emblematic of the health system’s desire to continue to change with the needs of the fast moving, ever growing, modern family. Starting this October, a number of the physician practices owned by Southern Tennessee Regional Health System (STRHS) will have a new name, First Choice Health. The new name represents a shift from a more traditional, slower paced style of healthcare to a new, highly flexible, patient centric brand of health care. This change will positively impact every community we serve. “We have listened to our patients and are adapting to meet their, and their family’s healthcare needs while also providing them wellness programs for a healthy life,” said system president, Rob Followell. “Southern Tennessee’s First Choice Health locations will provide accessible health care with options like walk-in patient care or calling for an appointment. The largest change is our desire to remain flexible enough to handle even the most urgent need without interrupting or delaying the care for our more traditional patients. The first locations changing names will be Winchester Family Medicine/Southern Tennessee Primary Care located on the Cowan Highway in Winchester and Hunters Lane Medical Center located behind Ruby Tuesdays in Tullahoma. The rebrand and subsequent re-launch of these clinics will be completed by November when making them the flagship locations for this new brand. For additional information, call the Winchester location at 931-962-4040 or Tullahoma at 931-455-4616.
