LORI MORRIS Design Inspiration An exclusive look into the residential project designed by Lori Morris called “Castle for One” The name alone “Castle for One” evokes a bit of mystery. What is the story behind this project? A castle is regal; it conjures an air of sophistication, significance and awe. The Castle for One was completely custom-designed for our client – including constructing the house itself. The result is breathtaking and provides the client with that initial feeling she sought when she came to Lori Morris – to be surrounded by a home that inspires and empowers her. How did you decide on the color scheme here? Did the grounds of the property influence you? Traditionally, castles would be situated near stunning natural environments and in this case, the Castle for One is framed by a gorgeous ravine full of verdant hues and rich, deep browns. In the foyer, great room and hall we evoked the ravine’s palette with black archways, a vibrantly grained wood floor, chartreuse accent walls, warm golds in the chandeliers and millwork, and a floor-to-ceiling fireplace that induces the essence of an ancient, epic redwood. The overall effect is a natural palette, but it’s taken to new heights of elegance and lavishness.

Those entry doors! The intricate detail and oversized scale set the tone beautifully. Along with designing materials for clients, where are your favorite places to shop for one-of-a kind pieces? The Castle for One doors were refurbished from an authentic century-old chateau in France. Incorporating such a statement piece into the space further emphasizes the epitome of a castle and ensures that, each time the client enters her home, she is moved by its significance and grandeur. We create one-of-akind statement pieces for our clients at LMD, and I find inspiration for our designs across the globe; in France for the Castle for One, or for our Versailles in the Sky design for another client, I had incredible marble fireplaces hand-carved in India. Inspiration and intricacy is everywhere if you seek it. If you could move to another country for one year solely for artistic inspiration, where would you direct the jet? France – or more specifically, Paris – in a heartbeat! What are your favorite materials to use in a kitchen? Where are your favorite places to source for stone? My favorite place to source stone is Italy and I travel there often to select materials. In the Castle for One, we used Michelangelo marble on the island with a smooth white marble backsplash, both Italian. The contrast is powerful and pushes forward the vibrant red statement piece. 12 Upscale Living Magazine |

I love black used in a dining room such as this one. It must feel like a risk for some clients, though. How do you help clients see how your vision will work in their space, even if it is something that they are hesitant about at first? Black is seductive and intriguing; it lures you in and takes a design beyond limitations. In order to be an innovator, you must step out of that comfort zone. As an artist, my clients are my muses, and through my artistry their vision comes to life. I help them see what could be when they open themselves up to creative possibility. They trust me to evoke the emotion they seek to achieve in their space because they know I deliver beyond expectations; an LMD home is incomparable. What is your favorite room in “Castle for One”? What is your favorite room in your own home, and why? My favorite room is the bedroom; it exudes romance and majesty. We used layers of materials and textures to create a sensual experience, and we designed the ornate domed ceiling to provide a fabulous canopy over the luxurious bed, with its extended upholstered headboard. The strength of this piece is offset by the softness of the pale blue palette; again providing elements of contrast and interest that exist throughout the home. The layering in your work creates such a sumptuous feeling. The rooms feel alive with all of these different silks, metals, stones and wallpapers. Name some of your signature elements of design:

Photos Courtesy of Lori Morris Designs.

What binds the LMD repertoire together is its distinctiveness. A Lori Morris design is unique, intricate and all yours. We go beyond expectations; we create entire custom spaces for our clients. From the textiles and hardware, furniture and art to the building itself – each piece is exceptional. There are no rules, only imagination. The signature of LMD is creativity, vision and haute couture. Dream up your ideal client, they can be alive or passed away. Who would it be? My ideal client describes to me the feeling they want to achieve in their home, and then I am able to use my artistry to bring that to life. The Castle for One is a perfect example of how I can make a client’s dream become her reality. For more information on Lori Morris, please visit www.lorimorris. com. | By Natalie King

FLOWERS Spectacular Arrangements By Sherri Balefsky

When it comes to home décor, we usually think of furniture, flooring, appliances and other practical features that make our homes functional. Paints and color schemes are often discussed—warm vs. cool, neutral vs. bright—yet flowers and plants are all-but left out of the equation.

mood. Not to mention, plants are natural depollutants, improving the quality of air in which you live and breathe. Working with flowers is also a creative process, which can combat anxiety and improve your mental state of mind.

Not only do plants and flowers make your home look and smell nice, they also have many health benefits. The American Horticultural Therapy Association says that having plants and flowers in your home can help reduce stress, fight common colds and enhance your overall

“There are definitely health and mental benefits to arranging flowers,” says Lisa George, owner of New York-based Michael George Flowers. “My husband would carry a bouquet from one room to the next just to enjoy every last moment of the bloom’s fleeting beauty.”

Lisa met her late husband, a second-generation florist known for having completely reinvented the floristry industry, in the early ’90s, and began interning for him on weekends. “He taught me everything I know about flowers,” she says. She also spent time volunteering for the Green Gorillas in NYC and taking courses at the New York Botanical Garden to hone in her gardening skills. She now oversees the company and heads up its events department. Previous and current clients of Michael George Flowers include Gucci, Vogue Italia, Net-A-Porter, Vanity Fair and more. Lisa’s first piece of advice when it comes to bringing plants or flowers into your home? “Start off simple,” she says. “Use long-lasting plants such as orchids and ferns.” These types of plants require little maintenance and can spruce up any home instantly. “Orchid plants thrive from neglect!” she adds. She also attests that the way in which you display your plants or flowers in your home doesn’t have to be complicated. “Try having just one important statement piece in your space by planting multiple orchids in one vessel,” she says. “Or, pair plants together to create an interesting focal point—pairs of anything look great!” If you want to be more creative, Lisa suggests submerging your favorite floral stem into a clear glass cylinder. “These look great on bars and mantles!” Other fun tips: “Cut a few open blossoms from your bouquets and float them in a decorative bowl filled with water,” she suggests. “You can also string floral buds on clear monofilament to create a floral garland.”

18 Upscale Living Magazine |

Issue 36

When it comes to selecting flowers, Lisa says to look for quality and variety. “Sometimes you can find good flowers in your local supermarket, but we would compare that to junior sportswear—sometimes you just want to wear couture! And for that, you have to shop in the luxury stores. Of course, our rule of thumb is to buy flowers and plants like you buy produce: if it’s in season, buy it!” So, does she have a personal favorite? “I would have to say the foxglove is my favorite flower. It is such a fairy-tale flower!”

LISA’S FIVE TIPS FOR CARING FOR FLOWERS & PLANTS IN YOUR HOME ◆Be sure to add fresh, cool water every day. ◆Always remove spent foliage on plants. ◆Give the stems of cut flowers a fresh trim after a few days. ◆Pay attention to the natural light in your space; this will dictate what types of plants you choose. ◆Use coasters under pots and vases; this will protect your furniture from water damage.

THE START OF SOMETHING GREAT! | By Damon M. Banks An exciting new tradition was started this spring with the inaugural ICONS Cup at the prestigious Dubai Creek Golf Club. Two teams of global sports stars went head-to-head on the golf course with Fred Couples leading Team USA, and Darren Clarke leading Team ROTW (Rest of the World). Upscale Living Magazine is excited to see more about the upcoming events after such an impressive first year was concluded with Team USA taking home this year’s Cup. Conceived, owned and produced by Worldwide Sports & Entertainment, Ltd. (WWSEL), the ICONS Cup is a significant departure from a standard celebrity golf tournament. The format exclusively features low-handicap, A-list athletes playing morning foursomes (alternate shot) on day one followed by 12 singles matches on day two. The ICONS Cup concludes the following day with 12 additional singles matches.

Exclusive North American Residential Communities

W

hen I was asked to pull together a collection of residential communities for Upscale Living Magazine, it was a bit of an overwhelming request with all of the fantastic options available throughout North America today. To make it even more challenging, we are now seeing many of the hotels such as Montage Deer Valley and Four Seasons Scottsdale offer residential options that still enjoys all of the benefits of the hotels. This is becoming a very desirable option for vacationers who want a “home away from home,” as well as many older residents who still want the freedom in their everyday life, but also want to know that the hotel services are available to them when desired. As with many of the leading communities, golf is the centerpiece

of the community, which is simply part of the lifestyle for many of these residents; but there are also ski in/out capabilities, equestrian programs, tennis clubs and other perks that make these communities a diverse collection of options. For many of us living in larger cities, the term “community” is almost a foreign term. However, escaping to the suburbs to enjoy the many simple luxuries that come with the residential community lifestyle looks pretty good when learning more about this collection that offers a wide range of budget options, but all having the services and amenities that makes them a perfect fit for many searching for their next home. | DAMON M. Give your interiors lustrous new additions with contemporary nature-inspired furniture from the Portuguese brand Ginger & Jagger. | By Smitha Sadanandan

Pebble Stool Resembling stacking pebbles, the Pebble Table imbues a sense of harmony. The blend of natural exotic wood with hammered metal reflects balance in nature. Walnut | Wardrobe: The woodwork of the Walnut, made with inlay marquetry technique, evokes the first rays of sunshine passing through the branches. The unique door handles are made from tree branches in brass casting mold.

Ananaz | Tables
- The pineapple texture is reinterpreted in a tridimensional geometrical pattern with a seductive and alluring marble top. The piece creates a subtle dance between light and shadow, transparency and lightness, hardness and softness.

Leaf | Mirror The Leaf series mirror, framed in gold hue, is made from leaves molded in brass casting, resembling a sumptuous crown.

Portuguese brands have slowly but steadily reconfigured their presence on the global décor and furniture scene with contemporary designs. One such brand that conjures up eye-grabbing décor and furniture pieces is Ginger & Jagger. Paula Sousa launched the brand in 2012 to explore different aesthetics, techniques and materials. The design approach, says Paula, is inspired by nature’s sculptural shapes with a unique blend of fine materials such as copper, brass and marble. “All our products are manufactured in Portugal because we strongly believe in the abilities of our artisans. They allow us to experiment, while keeping true to a legacy, the heritage of craftsmanship,” says Paula, CEO and Creative Director. Ginger & Jagger’s handcrafted pieces embody the brand’s design ethos, while pushing the boundaries of creativity. A case in point being the vine mirror, which has a frame handmade from vine branches,

moulded in brass casting, found in the Douro Valley (home of the unique Port Wine). “The glamour comes from the materials, the proportions, the design typology and the narrative behind the piece, of course, and the interior brings the retro element,” says Maria Bruno, Design Director. River washed pebbles, leaves, branches and twigs – nature continues to be the strongest muse. The brand has artfully segued into nature to imbibe its essence. And as evidenced by the Earth-to-Earth collection, it has creatively balanced the inspiration to work with luminous metal, marble and wood and fashion them into incredibly beautiful pieces. The collection blends myriad materials into an eclectic whole and kicks things up a few notches on the style scale. The engaging, audacious designs were soon handpicked by French fashion house Dior. Today, Ginger & Jagger has a home in Shanghai, Riyadh and Moscow, besides having a presence in Harrods. | www.gingerandjagger.com 31 Upscale Living Magazine |

THE

Brett

Johnson Collection By Natalie King

Brett Johnson is not creating fast fashion. The pieces in his eponymous collection are well thought out, immaculately tailored, decidedly timeless in construction and modern in cut. “The doors are opening very fast for a company that has just been open for one year,” says Johnson whose collection was just picked up by fashion retailer Neiman Marcus for fall 2014. One notable moment of success came last summer, where the brand held a trunk show and the stock of winter coats sold out in moments, in the midst of a heat wave in July. The menswear collection of apparel and shoes are cohesive in exuding a calm, cool confidence. This is not unlike Brett Johnson himself, who downplays his success, speaks with a great respect, and elicits an effortless certainty about the path that he is on. He has a discreet drive that is less focus on ostentatious success of many brands today. Within a few minutes spent with him, it is evident that he is dedicated to the quality and vision necessary to create a lasting brand. 36 Upscale Living Magazine |

He travels to Florence seven times per year to hand select all of the materials for his collection. He has chosen to have his clothing constructed in Florence because this is where the world’s most exquisite clothing is celebrated and crafted. He is interested in art, not spectacle, and this is the place that has produced great art for hundreds of years. He could very well be living in a NYC high rise, but chooses to live in Virginia, because as he says, “the quiet life suits me”. But his life isn’t quiet like you may imagine. Fashion is his priority, but he is also involved with the music and film industries. He is a producer on The Butler starring Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey, among other big name projects. The choice to reside in his hometown only adds to his authenticity. Brett Johnson is a class act with an edge – the same can be said of his designs.

Every room needs a stunning antique piece to anchor it and give it authenticity. That’s the belief of Meg Harrington, co-owner of one of Atlanta’s top home decor shops, Huff Harrington. What Huff Harrington offers is much more than just the latest design trends, though. It specializes in authentic French style -- unique, hardto-find items, pieces that are a work of art. In fact, the store began as an art gallery. In 2006, Harrington and her partner, Ann Huff, met when they were both individually selling fine art out of their homes. Harrington’s specialty: local art. Huff’s heart was art from the south of France. They fused their two offerings for a unique gallery, that was soon followed by a complementary home goods store, and also a travel company that takes people on tours through France. If you’re lucky, you can score a seat next to Huff and Harrington on a shopping trip in France, where they have deep ties. When searching for the items to bring back home, Harrington says she looks for beautiful lines, glitter and shine and things with rich personality. “There’s nothing more gorgeous than a French chandelier,” she says. But she makes sure to mix the glitz up. Huff Harrington loves juxtaposition and does it brilliantly.

“We love sleek and contemporary matched with crusty and crunchy 18th century,” Harrington says. “That’s how life is. Life is not all one flavor. It’s lots of different flavors all mixed up together.” True french style can encompass everything from a sexy Louis XV chair to ultra sleek and modern furniture, she says, and is most powerful when it bridges both the old and the new. Bring a little French into your existing home with a dramatic, oversized railway station clock, an antique, 300-year-old barometer, a starburst mirror from the ‘50s or beautiful biot jars, still marked with the olive oil manufacturer’s stamp from the 19th century. Huff Harrington has an eye for the unusual and fantastic, like lucite chairs from the ‘70s or an oversized starburst mirror made of rustic wood. That one sold within an hour of unpacking it, Harrington says. As it becomes increasingly difficult to find authentic antiques, the interest in retro pieces from the ‘60s through ‘80s are becoming more popular, she says. Look for lucite, brass and glass.

Where your AD reaches your affluent audience

“The key is to open your eyes, clear your head and let your heart do the talking when we’re shopping,” Harrington says. “It’s a really gut-based business.” Sometimes even simple accents can have big impact. For example, adorn your covered porch with zinc planters and old boxes. “Most are not pristine. They have personality and have lived many good lives,” Harrington says. “To us, that’s what gives them integrity. They have a history.” Using antique items that have been passed down through time is the ultimate way of living an eco-friendly lifestyle, Harrington says.

HOME It is no secret that we love design – and if any brand can take credit for our fascination with color, pattern and, of course, mosaic, it is Sicis Next Art. Italian mosaic company Sicis, founded by Maurizio Leo Placuzzi, has been pooling over two decades of experience in mosaic artistry to create a wide range of décor pieces and furniture. Inspired by a diverse universe of art, history and design, the palette draws upon Italy’s heritage and its ancient artisanal techniques. Mosaic masters in Ravenna place artistic mosaic by hand on each of the furniture and décor pieces, and it is this intricate detailing that imbues the collection with a timeless element. The brand encompasses a lifestyle line, which bears the hallmark of creativity. The designs – embellished with micro-mosaics – give the limited edition furniture pieces a contemporary twist. Sicis Next Art has a huge selection of stylish must-haves: silk-velvet chairs in shapes of hearts and moon, leaves and massive blossoms. Over the years, Sicis has collaborated with the likes of Alida Cappellini and Giovanni Licheri, Italian set designers, who have designed a special collection in leather and printed leather inspired by nature. The designers drew inspiration from nature and designed sofas and armchairs, resembling leaves from the five continents. The duo also designed coffee tables in wood, leather, glass and metal.

“Lend a sense of drama to your rooms with these contemporary furniture that add an element of fantasy.” Another highlight is the collection by Italian artist Carla Tolomeo, who was mentored by noted artist De Chirico. Carla designed Sicis furniture in silk velvet and precious mosaic, while the collaboration with fashion and interior designer Christian Lacroix, led to Byzantine inspired pieces. With Empress Theodora as his muse, Christian also created a series of furniture, tables, lamps and mosaic panels. The Sicis Next Art collection is guaranteed to provide inspiration and help you curate a personal décor scheme that is both bold and luxurious.

Luxury Woven Vinyl® has a patented, heavy traffic rated cushion backing making it the premier floor covering in the Marine industry. There are two thicknesses in cushion backing, compact cushion and heavy duty expanding a designer’s options. This durable floor covering can withstand everything from saltwater to red wine spills; pet accidents to everyday use. The unique backing and woven face fabric are constructed in such a way to be 100% recyclable further cementing LWV as a pioneer and trendsetter. Take me through the experience of working with Infinity Fabrics, from choosing a style to installation. Luxury Woven Vinyl® is fascinating and new from its construction to final presentation. It is a tactile experience and visually moving. Infinity has an in-house design team lead by one of the most respected colorists in the flooring industry. The design team ensures that Infinity is setting trends in both style and coloration. Luxury Woven Vinyl® evokes a lifestyle of recreation and simplicity. We seek to carry that into our internal work culture. Infinity is customer oriented providing the highest quality of service no matter the size of order. This principle of service and dedication to the customer is another example of the quality of life we seek to provide by product and personnel. Even installation provides little challenge. Most adhesives work with LWV for glue down or loose lay application. Snap in sets can also be created and bound for supreme display and easy removal. How many years have you been in business? Principal owners have been in the business for over thirty-five years. We came from an Architect & Interior Design background with a specific focus to International. Eight years ago, Infinity Fabrics was launched. As a boat enthusiast myself, I became tired of replacing traditional carpet in my boat (where it had no place). After a great amount of research, we developed Luxury Woven Vinyl® and its patented, unique backing. The buy-in from Manufacturers, Dealers, Installers, and even DIY-ers has been incredible. It’s a win for the bottom line and a win for the boat enthusiast, like me, who deserves one less thing to worry about.

The success in Marine has generated a great interest into Recreational Vehicles (RV) as well. We are now exclusively focused on these two industries educating consumers on the best floor offerings and empowering them to live better lives through the top performing product, Luxury Woven Vinyl®. There has been so much in the news recently about flooring that is questionable in terms of health risks. It’s refreshing to see that Infinity Fabrics is Certifiably Green®. What does this mean for consumers? Peace of Mind that Luxury Woven Vinyl® is environmentally sound and Earth friendly. Environmental sustainability is critically important to Infinity Fabrics. Luxury Woven Vinyl® products are engineered in accordance with our Company’s strict Certifiably Green® standards. Raw material is designed for durability and is 100% recyclable. It respects our shared physical environment Cradle-to-Cradle by beginning life in a virtually waste-free manufacturing process, living its life durable and VOC free, and ending life with recycling. Infinity Fabrics LWV products qualify for LEED points. LWV is Phthalate Free, Green Guard Certified, REACH Certified and meet the requirements of California Prop 65. Due to its broad range for applications beyond wall and floor covering, waste is limited and goods are utilized in creative ways. Trailer bunks, complimenting yacht placemats, swim platforms, and ski compartments highlight impressive uses. What is one of your most favorite / memorable projects to date? We have found a positive, memorable experience in nearly every project to date. Recently we partnered with SeaRay to incorporate Luxury Woven Vinyl® on their 58’ models. In the RV industry, we developed a Luxury Woven Vinyl® collection for Airstream to place into every 2015 Classic model. The greatest project we participated in was with Brad Pitt and his foundation helping rebuild the Lower 9th after Katrina. Having a small part in such an amazing effort will never be forgotten. It was a life changing experience. True, amazing experiences can never be replaced or forgotten. In our own way and as it pertains to wall and floor covering, we want to do the same. We want to provide a visual and tactile product backed by unmatched performance that allows a yacht owner the opportunity to experience life to the fullest and forever change his or her Yachting journey.

AN INSIDER’S LOOK AT

THE NAUTOR’S SWAN

LUXURY SAILING YACHTS | Damon M. Banks 37 Upscale Living Magazine |

Issue 31

YACHTS + JETS + AUTOMOBILES

While I will be the first to admit that I am not a sailor, the fact is that you simply don’t have to be a professional sailor to appreciate the styling and all-out beauty of these graceful sailing yachts. And not just a “pretty yacht,” the level of technology and innovation that is researched, developed and integrated into these yachts is beyond compare. For nearly fifty-years, Nautor’s Swan has been the pride of Northern Finland, and the ultimate yacht internationally for those looking for a luxurious and high-performance sailing yacht. “Swan owners are true sailors,” said Leonardo Ferragamo, Chairman of Nautor’s Swan. “They take great pride in their yachts and devote time and energy to fulfil their passion for sailing, while enjoying and sharing the true values of Swan with the other owners of ClubSwan’s extended family.” Being fascinated with luxury sailing yachts, authentic wood-burning saunas and the culture of Finland, I was pleased to spend several days with the very impressive and gracious team behind the success of Nautor’s Swan. The Swan team’s passion and pride for their work was refreshing, and all of the individuals of Nautor’s Swan and the other locals we encountered were even more charming and friendly than I had imagined. THE ROOTS RUN DEEP IN FINLAND It’s true that Swans have only been around since the 1960’s, but Pietarsaari has, in fact, been a world-renown centre of shipbuilding for over 500 years. It’s been these past 49 years that Nautor’s Swan has been producing sailing yachts in this beautiful part of the world, which have become admired around the globe for their distinctive style and unmatched performance. I was fortunate to have some time in Pietarsaari during this visit, which is in Western Finland, on the Gulf of Bothnia. The feeling of community is strong here, and the many locals involved with Nautor’s Swan are more like an oversized family all working together to harness their passion 60 Upscale Living Magazine | Issue 36

and pride when working with each Swan individually. There is simply no cookie-cutter approach to anything this team does, and they have the capabilities of combining their Finnish heritage with modern technologies to develop a caliber of high performance yacht I have never before seen. Pekka Koskenkylä, a Finnish entrepreneur whose dream was to produce top-quality, performance sailing yachts, founded Oy Nautor Ab in 1966. It was his passion and the local’s instinctive knowledge of shipbuilding that lead Koskenkylä to delivering the Swan 36 Tarantella, which would be the first the first in a long line of fiberglass yachts. It’s quite unique to manufacture yachts of this magnitude in a place like Pietarsaari; but locals have become accustomed to the oversized sailing yachts being transported along the streets, and the entire community is clearly proud of each Swan that is “born” in their village. “Pekka Koskenkylä’s vision was very strong from the start, and part of his dream was to draw on the skills and experience of the excellent craftsmen that are still found in the region,” said Marcus Jungell, Sales Director at Nautor’s Swan. THE SWAN DIFFERENCE The current SwanLine range is impressive, and is easily one of the broadest of any yacht builder. This range of offerings is only made more impressive when you examine the quality control performed on each Swan produced. One of the elements of Swans that I find most exciting is this impressive shipbuilding history of the people involved in Pietarsaari, which is combined beautifully with the artistic flare from the influence of Italy after Leonardo Ferragamo and a group of investors purchased Nautor’s Swan in 1998. Looking at the Swans produced in recent years, it’s clear that these influences from Finland and Italy have come together flawlessly to make magic on the water. “Swans are recognized worldwide for their elegance, a blend of classic and innovative details,” said Ferragamo. “Each and every Swan is designed,

manufactured and tested in-house by Nautor’s Swan in Finland, and this is the only way we can ensure that every element meets our incredibly high standards - the mark of a true Swan.” Always looking at ways to enhance the brand, Nautor’s Swan is looking at the possibility of developing a smaller Swan, while not losing sight of the brand’s success rate due to them continuing to build fast and reliable yachts of the highest quality developed with cutting-edge modern techniques. Today, 10-15 Swans are built each year, and with more than 2,000 Swans having been delivered to clients around the world during these past 50 years, more than 96 percent are still sailing today. “Our values are of elegance with fine attention to detail, and the result is a timeless design,” said Jungell. “The yachts should always have great sailing performance and feel easy to handle, making good use of space and layout; which is why Swans are liked by real sailors, because they are built to the best quality standards with top technology, and because they are the most reliable yachts.” PUSHING THE ENVELOPE OF INTERIOR DESIGN The Swans are made with a level of precision that is certainly not commonplace in today’s marketplace. “When buying a Swan, the customer embarks on a design journey which for many owners is a great pleasure,” said Heini Gustafsson, Interior Architect at Nautor’s Swan. The interior design angle starts at a very early stage of the build, allowing for the owner to be very involved each step of the way. When it comes to the interior design process for these Swans, again each and every element of the design is completely customized for each client. The Nautor’s Swan team takes into careful consideration the owner’s lifestyle and vision for their yacht - depending on whether the owner will want to cruise or race, use the boat with family, and so on, to determine the best solutions.

YACHTS + JETS + AUTOMOBILES Club. “Owning a Swan is all about the pleasure of sailing on yachts that are symbols of excellence, tradition and innovation; and the fine arrow along each Swan hull is a true mark of distinction,” said Ferragamo. An added bonus is that through ClubSwan’s partners, members also have access to some of the world’s most prestigious Yacht Clubs, as well as unique opportunities to share their passion for sailing and experiences with fellow members at our partners’ events. With a very impressive collection of partners, regattas and special events around the world making up the ClubSwan calendar of events, being a part of the ClubSwan family is a very unique opportunity for the professional and novice sailors alike. “Our brand is set apart from of all other super yacht builders – based on our extraordinary range of yachts, our close-knit family of owners, yearround worldwide racing and social program through ClubSwan and our extensive Customer Care network around the world,” added Ferragamo. “Nautor’s Swan has a strong identity, which is constantly highlighted at the brand’s signature events such as the Rolex Swan Cup,” said Enrico Chieffi, Group Vice President, Nautor Holding. “Built on a strong balance between performance, elegance and strength, the brand will continue to evolve its values with consistency, coherence and continuity with a keen eye on innovation – and will continue to produce new, exciting yachts.” Learn More: http://nautorswan.com Calendar of Events: http://nautorswan.com/en/club-swan/racing ClubSwan: http://nautorswan.com/en/club-swan

“Following their dream being put together piece by piece in the in-house lamination shop, joinery and assembly gives the owner an insight to what makes the Swans so desirable: the quality and passion of the Swan product is present in every detail of the build,” explained Gustafsson. The interior design offerings at Nautor’s Swan are all-inclusive and personalized, including layouts styling, joinery, lighting, soft furnishings an crockery. “Every essential design and item can be styled or sourced by Nautor, and the owner has one personal point of contact within the company working towards final project delivery,” added Gustafsson. Each Swan embraces space and light, whilst embodying the true spirit of the owner. This spirit can include a variety of personal preferences and the end use of the yacht. Items like cabinets, bedding and even art are all part of the process, and especially in the case of professional racing yachts. I was amazed to see how each item is weighed and recorded throughout the entire process so that the owner can monitor the weight and not exceed the desired total weight of the yacht. Many of the materials that are specially designed in-house by Nautor’s Swan are revolutionary in that they are strong enough to last many decades, but weigh next to nothing. “The role of the interior designer is to assist and guide the owners in their choices, while respecting one element that is key to each Nautor’s Swan: a delicate yet strong balance below decks,” said Gustafsson. When complete customization from start to finish is a prerequisite for a potential client, it’s very difficult to find another company who can provide the level of services (and customized options) that are available with Nautor’s Swan. CLUBSWAN: A FAMILY AFFAIR Being an owner of a Nautor Swan comes with the coveted membership to ClubSwan, and though the official home of ClubSwan is the Segelsallkapet Yacht Club in Pietarsaari, Finland, membership provides insider access to a host of regattas, cruising rendezvous, and social events all around the world. All Swan owners, past and present, are members of ClubSwan, while friends and family are invited guest members to the 61 Upscale Living Magazine |
