UNDERSTANDING

IF GOD CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITHOUT FAITH…NEITHER CAN WE verything that happens to us supernaturally happens by faith. Somewhere, somehow, someone has to release faith for the supernatural to happen in our lives. It may have been someone on the other side of the world who interceded for you in the spirit, praying in other tongues and never even knowing what—or for whom— they prayed. Oftentimes, we never know. But the point is, at some moment in time, faith must be released on our behalf for a supernatural event—like salvation—to happen in our lives. Throw Open the Windows!

But you know, I discovered that you and I cannot live on somebody else’s faith the rest of our lives. If you and I continue to depend only on the faith of other believers—our spouses, our parents, our children, or even our pastors and spiritual leaders—we will always be hindered and hampered, and never as free and successful as God wants us to be. So we must develop our faith. We must learn how to operate in our own faith. That’s why, in this two-part series, I want us to focus on four specific principles of faith. Now, obviously, there are more than four principles to faith, but I want to introduce these four to you because I consider them to be vital. I believe they are essential to understanding how God designed faith to operate in our lives. With that understanding in 4

hand, we can then use our faith more effectively. In this first half of our study, I want us to examine two of the four principles, the first of which is:

1. Faith gives God an opening. We read in Romans 5:1-2, the Amplified Bible: “Through Him also we have [our] access (entrance, introduction) by faith into this grace—state of God’s favor—in which we [firmly and safely] stand.” Paul is telling us that faith gives us access to God’s favor. Our faith gives God an opening through which He can pour all His favor into our lives. The moment you and I received Jesus as our Lord, we gave God an opening into our lives. Our faith gave Him entrance to come in and save us. By faith, we gained access to the favor of God to be born again. But that was just the beginning. Faith requires that we continually receive the Word of God to lay hold of all of God’s goodness. Faith is kept alive and working by taking God’s Word into your heart. Believing God’s Word concerning any area of life and acting in line with that Word is faith. The force of faith is activated by hearing and believing God’s Word. It is a spiritual force produced by the abiding Word of God in the heart. God operates by promise. He gives His Word. If you believe and obey it no matter what, He brings that promise to pass in your life.

A Choice to Make Noah is a good example. Early in the book of Genesis we read how, when God first approached Noah about building the ark, no one had ever heard of the concept of rain. Well, Noah had a choice to make, Do I believe God and build this monstrosity called an ark, or don’t I? It was a far out plan to Noah’s natural understanding, but God knew exactly what He was doing. So, like Noah—and all the other heroes of faith in the Old Testament—if you and I are going to live supernaturally to have the supernatural blessings of God overtake us, we must give God an opening—and faith is that opening. Our faith is like opening a window to God.

Believing Is Faith Remember, God is no dictator. He never forces His way into our lives like the devil does. He never tries to deceive us. When God laid out His promises, He made them plain and simple. Then He gave us a choice. Certainly, you and I don’t have to believe what God says. But if we want to live healed, prosperous, blessed in every way, then we will have to believe what He says. That is faith!

2. The second principle I want to introduce to you is: Faith comes. To learn more about the conditions that cause faith to rise up in any given situation, let’s read Romans 10:13-17: “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved… So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”. Paul declares a promise and then goes on to show the supernatural process by which it draws faith out of our hearts—the faith that is necessary to lay hold of the promise and cause the reality of it to manifest in our lives.

Faith Comes By Hearing There are approximately 6,000 promises from God recorded in the Bible, and each one was carefully written down for us. If you and I were to take each of those promises and read them, speak them out loud and keep them before our eyes, in our mouths and in our ears—eventually—faith would rise up within us. Why? Because faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Faith comes by hearing the promises of God. You see, faith is simply Kenneth Copeland Ministries. All Rights Reserved.

he world outside the Church of God sees greatness as a position and title deserving of those who have risen to reputable positions in the arts, sciences, government, and such-like fields. The Word of God, however, defines greatness in the context of three virtues: Humility, obedience, and service. Jesus said it and that settles it (Mark 9:33-37). God does not equate greatness with stature, egocentric personal achievements, or lordship over others. He equates greatness with humility and selfless service, and finds pleasure in obedience (1Samuel 15:22).

Growth, increase, and greatness in the things of God are facilitated by God Himself, as we follow His principles (2Timothy 2:5; 1Peter 5:5-6). Any pursuit of greatness and enhancement of one’s image not achieved through humility before God, are man-centered and egocentric. One always sees a predominance of man’s aura in such environments, and not the Spirit of God. The saints of God have not been called to achieve fame; neither have we been called to do God’s work for Him. We have rather been called to walk in obedience and humility to God’s will, and wherever it leads; and God will then work His works through us. One thing that we can be sure about is that commitment to God always plunders man-centered ambitions and purges the vessel concerned of all self-confidence (Acts 7:22 vs. Exodus 4:10-12); because God shares His glory with no man or woman. Whenever we out of carnal motivations for fame and gain try to circumvent the sovereignty of God; we end up corrupting divine principles; and even though we may sometimes achieve fame and gain in the process, that in no wise reflects divine approval. God commends humility and faithfulness, because it reflects obedience to His will and leads to fruitfulness, which may not be visible to the naked eye some of the times. God’s interest, as seen in the case of King Saul in 1 Samuel 15, is in 6

obedience that reflects submissiveness; and whenever/ wherever these two virtues are realized, God grants the increase, exaltation, and the power to prosper. Many have become corrupted in Christian Ministry because they sought fame and gain, and not humility and obedience; and were hence not prepared for the challenges that come with them; the temptations of pride and haughtiness. Some who have been called by God, after gaining prominence, become consumed with themselves and their position, and forget that they are but flesh and blood. They tend to forget that what motivates us reflects what governs our spirit. Is it a desire for fame or recognition and gain; or a desire to serve our generation and fulfill our divine call? Is it a desire to earn a name and become a celebrity, or a passion for souls, a burden for the Church, and the zeal of the House of God? We need to take heed to ourselves and accept that nothing we do matters, if we do not make the conscious effort to exalt Christ, and give all the glory to God. There is no denying of the fact that obedience to God in all humility yields blessings and fame. However, we have not been called to make those two our objects of pursuit. We have been called to seek first the Kingdom of God, where the Lordship of Christ reigns supreme, in all humility and service. We have not been called to lord over the Church of God in the posture of demigods, whose praises are sung more than the Lord who redeemed us. Greatness in the Kingdom of God is never achieved by the praise and commendations of man; for it is not the one commended by man that is anything but the one commended by God (2Corinth. 10:18). For one to achieve greatness in the sight of God, however, one must learn to walk in humility before God, for He exalts and gives grace to the Humble but resists the proud and haughty (1Peter 5:5-6).

“Under the King’s Care” he care of the citizens by the king is a concept called “kingdom welfare” and describes the king’s personal commitment to look after the needs and wants of his citizens within his land. Therefore, the word welfare is a concept that can only be understood fully in the context of a kingdom. Whenever we submit to a king and his kingdom, we come under his welfare. Welfare is not a word that can be used in a democracy.

For many, the very word welfare paints negative pictures in their minds, and they believe it to be a societal curse. In the context of a kingdom, however, welfare is a beautiful word and describes something to be highly desired. It is a word that is used to express a king’s commitment to his citizenry. This is why in all true kingdoms the concept of prosperity and national social services is called “common wealth.” Again, this concept can only be understood within the concept of a kingdom. In any of the other forms of government, no regime or person has ever been successful in eﬀectively caring for “all” of the citizens. As a matter of fact, even under the best form of human government, democracy, there is the plight of the rich versus the poor, the have’s compared to the have not’s, the extreme and unequal distribution of wealth, discrimination, racism, divisions, social classifications, and ethnic segregation. continually fails to show us a government that manifests the equality, harmony, stability, and community that man has desired and sought after from the day of the fall of Adam. Even our best is defective. No government has been able to take care of its people equally. In a true ideal kingdom, however, all the citizens’ welfare is the personal responsibility of the king. This is why the original kingdom concept, as in the Kingdom of God taught by Jesus Christ, is superior to all other governments. Therefore, in a kingdom, the concept of “commonwealth” is also very important, and the word correctly describes the nature of the relationship the king has with his citizens and subjects. The wealth in a kingdom is common. Therefore, in a true ideal kingdom there is no discrimination or distinction between the rich and the poor, for in such a kingdom all citizens have equal access to kingdom wealth and resources provided by the benevolent king. In essence, the king’s interest is the welfare of the kingdom and everything in it. What government can promise common wealth for its citizens? Considering the world’s historical and current state of aﬀairs in the management of resources by governments, it is imperative that we adopt God’s original kingdom concept into our world. All governments are inferior to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Every living person needs to say this prayer. God is looking for broken and contrite vessels that can humble themselves before Him and plead for help; persons who can acknowledge that their help comes from the LORD [Psalms 121]; individuals who seek God’s truth rather than popularity; people who will prostrate themselves at the altar of a merciful God and ask Him to purge them. Men that will seek joy from the Lord rather than running to night-clubs, smoking-joints, play-boy mansions, pornographicinternet-sites, strip joints, drug-dealers, sugar-mummies, pubs, massage parlors and every other man-made places. God is looking for a people that will seek the Holy Ghost rather than quick fixes. He likes men that are thirsty for Him. Men that will seek Him like David.

O GOD, you are my God; early will I seek you; my flesh longs for you in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. So I have looked for you in the sanctuary, to see your power and your glory. Psalms 63:1-2 10

God seeks a people that are not selfish and self-centered but outward looking and ready to share with others the joy and love of God, who look for God in the sanctuary, which means that they love to be in the presence of God, seeking his power. They do not run from the back but always stay at the front of things. They are the first to answer when God is calling. They are the first to say, “Here I am Lord, send me”. They do not disrespect their pastors and criticize them but rather they do their very best to be of help. They find something to do that will help their church grow. They are men of purpose. They support the pastor’s vision, they run with it. They are not easily swerved. They attend bible study and imbibe the word of God. They hide the word in their heart and use it as a sword to fight the enemy. They are great worshippers. They are good husbands. They make great fathers. ow many times have you heard someone say, “I wish I had what he/she has”? It’s easy to feel this way, not having taken into account the hard work and self-sacrifice it took for them to get what they have…a successful business, a slim figure, early retirement… Too often we want to skip the hard work and go directly to the results. People are always looking for the easy way to get what they want – some magic formula. They want to lose weight without having to cut calories or exercise. They want to have nice things without having to save up the money to buy them. Nobody wants to suﬀer or sacrifice. But the fact is you and I will never have the things we want to have in life if we aren’t willing to practice the discipline and self-control it takes to have them. To put it bluntly, if you want to have the perks, you have to put in the work! Proverbs 25:28 compares a person without self-control to a city with broken-down walls – full of rubble and chaos. Building discipline and self-control into your personal habits will not only help you achieve your goals, it will also help you gain real peace of mind because you feel better when you start putting things in order. Are you surrounded by a mess? Look around your house at the chores you’ve started but never finished – simple household repairs, stacks of unpaid bills, unmade beds and dishes in the sink that never get washed. Getting organized in the normal routines of life and finishing little projects you’ve started is an important first step toward realizing larger goals. If you can’t get a handle on the small things, how will you ever get it together to focus on the big things? Starting today, decide to be a “finisher.” Start cleaning up the physical and personal messes in your life. Take your

inspiration from the great finishers of the Bible. Moses led the Israelites around the desert for 40 years before they finally reached the Promised Land. Job, though tested beyond normal human endurance, finished strong with a steadfast faith. In Job 19:25 (NIV), he declared, “I know that my Redeemer lives.” Likewise Paul, who suffered tremendous persecution for his faith, was able to write, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful” (2 Timothy 4:7 NLT). We can be finishers too, if we will cooperate with God and put in the work He’s calling us to do. Stop being wishy-washy and start being decisive. Make up your mind to clean up the messes big and small that are dragging you down. Sure it’s hard, but God has equipped you for “hard.” He has already planted the seeds of discipline and self-control inside you. You just have to water those seeds with His Word to make them grow. You can get victory over out-of-control areas of your life if you deliberately and consistently lean on Him. Say “God, I am nothing without You. I can’t do anything without You.” Cast down wrong thoughts when they come into your mind. Start thinking and speaking God’s Truth to your situation and little by little, He will help you reach your goal. Whatever your goal is, whether it’s to get in good physical shape or change a negative attitude, start drawing on God’s power to help you achieve it. Philippians 4:6 says, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done” (NLT). Thank Him in advance for His help in cleaning up the messes in your life. In the meantime, hold fast to the words of Psalm 18:29 (NLT), “In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall.” Even the walls of a messy house!

The Priorities of the believer he Bible is crystal clear about our priorities: Put God first. Put people second. Matthew 6:33 spells it out for us. Jesus says, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

Jesus made this promise while chastising His disciples for their unbelief toward God and their anxiety about life's provision. Jesus promised faithful and complete blessings for the person who gives God priority over everything else.

Until we follow up intent with action, we won’t find the blessing and harmony we’re looking for. But what does this mean for our families? Establishing priorities in our lives and homes is a high-stakes issue. It's the diﬀerence between being blessed or battered, intimate or enemies, a success or a statistic. And it doesn't happen by accident. Successful families are purposeful about their priorities. They structure it into their lives. They arrange their decisions, practices, and lifestyles to reflect it. Honor God first. Then honor your family. There's nothing new or surprising about that order of priorities. I've found that most Christians agree with the idea that God should come first and family next. But I've also found that much of our agreement is just lip service. We'll nod our heads in understanding when we read it. We'll give a hearty "Amen" when the pastor says it at church. But it doesn't always translate into our everyday lives. What we need to understand is that intentions are not always reality. You may have heard something like the old adage that says "the road to ruin is paved 16

with good intentions." Intent is fine, but it has to unite with the willingness to actually make diﬃcult daily choices. It must be accompanied by a readiness to say no to competing demands. Until we follow up intent with action, we won't find the blessing and harmony we're looking for. Husbands, how does your life reflect your priorities? When your wife looks at the way you live, does she conclude that you are living for God or living for something else? Does she feel like you pay more attention to your work, your colleagues, your email or your phone than you do to her? Fathers, when your children look back on their childhood, what we they remember? Will it be a dad who was always at work or, when he did come home, was always distracted? Or will it be a dad who played with them, who taught them, who gave them attention, who treated their mom with honor and respect? Wives, what does your life say about your priorities? Does your husband look at you and see someone distracted by friends and activities and Facebook? Someone whose mind is pulled toward work or selfish pursuits rather than home? Someone who seems to nag more than love? Mothers, how will your kids remember you? As a mother who stressed out, worried, and hovered…or a mom who prayed, who trusted God, and who taught her kids to love others? Your real priorities are visible in the way you live. I encourage you to pay whatever price is necessary to establish them in your life. Either way, your marriage will thank you for it.

Give LOVE and Get LOVE You only get what you give...

nother month is here for us to show our love to God for his loving-kindness, and to one another. To be alive today means somebody stood in the gap for you to be protected, because the bible says, â&#x20AC;&#x153;when we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).

The Bible says "God is loveâ&#x20AC;? and Love is one of the primary characteristics of God. Our love is usually conditional and based upon how other people behave toward us. This kind of love is based upon familiarity and direct interaction. The Bible, however, describes Love as being patient, kind, truthful, unselfish, trusting, believing, hopeful, and enduring. It is not jealous, boastful, arrogant, rude, selfish, or angry. True love never fails. The description perfectly fits God's love toward us, and should be the way we love each other and God. However, I have never met any person who perfectly fulfills this biblical definition of love. When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was, He said, "You shall love the lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with your entire mind." (Matthew 22:37). He then added that the second most important law was "you shall love your neighbor as yourself." Jesus said that the 18

entire law was dependent upon these two commandments. My hope is that you will desire to express love as defined in the Bible, even if you are not a Christian. However, wanting to do so and attempting to do so in the power of your own will is guaranteed to fail. This kind of love is only possible through reliance on the power of God by faith in Jesus Christ. You cannot practice this kind of love if you do not abide in Christ; and whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4:8) God demonstrated his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8). This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. (1 John 3:16) As you read this message today, may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ. May you love one another as yourself at church, in school, and in your neighborhood. Turn to your parents or guardians and tell them how much you love them for showing you the goodness of the Lord.

(Most foods don’t have a complete supply of vitamins and minerals.) • Good mental health includes proper rest/sleep (7-8 hours nightly), brain foods like broccoli/ gingko supplements. • Fasting once a month assist with detoxifying the blood and cleansing the gastrointestinal system • No meat fast • Fruit and vegetable only fast. • Juice and water fast. Women: Get your Mammogram and pap smears done in 2012. Check your breast regularly for changes or lumps.

Men: Get your prostate check in 2012 and a colonoscopy for men over 40 or earlier if a family history of colon cancer. Women get your colonoscopy also.

Children: Get your children immunized on healthy snacks and fruits. Put the sweet treats away for the kids in 2012. Remember to not smoke or drink alcohol. believing what we hear. It’s believing what we read and what we say. If we believe what we hear, say and read, and we let it get deep in our hearts, soon faith will rise up within us and see to it that everything we hear, say and read comes to pass. The faith that rises within us gives God an opening to bring His promises to pass. If God promises He will do something, He will do it. He is more dependable than anyone you know. Remember those 6,000 promises recorded in the Bible? They’ve already been established as reality for us. We read in II Corinthians 1:20 that “all the promises of God in [Jesus] are yea, and in [Jesus] Amen.”

What is our responsibility, then? As we saw earlier, we must give God a window. We

must give Him an opening into our lives by faith— and not just when we get born again, but every moment of every day! You and I must keep the promises of God—His precious Word—before us at all times...reading them, speaking them, listening to them. In short, we must do everything it takes to get the Word in our hearts. Because, when we do...faith will come! So commit to God’s Word. Commit to it, and I guarantee you that faith won’t just come some of the time or, maybe, most of the time. No, faith will come all the time! It will come every time that you believe it enough to receive it in your heart to abide, and when it comes, so will the fulfillment of God’s promises in your life.
