Joshua 24:15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.

hoosing to side with God's Word is a continual challenge. It's not something you do just once. It's a process of choosing to believe and act upon the Word of God over and over in every circumstance. That's what everyone has to do. Years ago I decided I was going to choose Jesus. Since then I've had to choose Him again and again in situations every day. I've chosen Him as my Lord and Savior. I've chosen Him as my Healer. I've chosen Him as my Financier. I've chosen Him as head of my household. I've chosen Him as head of this ministry. And I still have to choose Him moment by moment. Sometimes that choice gets tough, but God has promised it will never get too tough. In 1 Corinthians 10:13, He says, "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able." What the Lord is saying is 4
that He will not allow you to be subjected to a temptation you're unable to overcome. With every temptation, He'll make a way of escape. He'll always make sure you have a choice.
The devil doesn't come tempt you while God is off somewhere else, unaware of what is happening to you. The Spirit of God is constantly there with you, providing you with the way to overcome. In other words, God matches even the toughest temptations with the weapons and power you need to conquer them. He always makes it possible for you to choose life. So choose to walk in love. Choose to walk by faith. Choose to live by the Word. Jesus is the Way! Choose Him! Scripture Reading: Joshua 24:14-24

Revelation Knowledge
D
ivine or revelation knowledge is information or facts and truths received from the Holy Spirit (spiritual enlightenment) to help the born-again Christian appreciate the things of God and align his/her life to the counsel of God. It is the acquisition and possession of the discerning mind of Christ in an inherent manner by the child of God; to the extent that the knowledge of God’s will becomes an effortless experience on a daily basis. It is not the mere acquisition of scriptural knowledge, but the daily presence and experience of divine illumination or discernment that grants in-depth understanding, which provokes conviction, faith in the unseen God, and spiritual transformation: the kind that was experienced by Peter when Jesus asked the disciples about who He was in Matthew 16:1317. In sum, it can be described as the ability to source for or access divine knowledge in its raw form and decipher or interpret it correctly to know the mind of God and how to implement it. This endowment is not the domain or playground of the young and restless in Christ, but of those who have developed and exercised their spiritual senses and instincts or capacities, to consistently relate to divine or spiritual stimuli; break them down to extract the revelations imbedded in them. Such are men and women who have grown into adulthood in Christ over time to develop a keen sense of discernment. Peter’s answer provoked Jesus to reveal another dimension or kind of knowledge that is foreign to the rational or natural mind and mode of information 6
w w w. a d o n a i m a g . t v
acquisition. Jesus said, “Flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father….” What He meant was that this kind of knowledge exists beyond man’s natural way of thinking and information acquisition. It is knowledge that is given by the Spirit of God, period. In confirming and affirming the divinity of the scriptures, Paul described this kind of insight as knowledge acquired through divine inspiration (2Timothy 3:16), whilst Peter described it as “men moved by the Holy Spirit” (2Peter 1:20). The Lord communicates to us and with us in diverse ways and forms. Our emotions, environments, and situations are oftentimes pregnant with divine revelation, but it takes a mature child of God, a man or woman of discernment to grasp such insight to prosper by it. From the spiritual point of view, growth in Christ is related to, and corresponds with, the development of our mental faculties along new lines of perception and judgment, which are more in tune with the Word of God, the leadings of the Spirit of God, and common sense. This is due to the fact that our conscience becomes purged of the dead works, which have enslaved us and corrupted our worldviews with cultural inclinations that tend towards evil, indiscipline, and stupidity. We then develop the capacity to view life with newness of insight through divine enlightenment or illumination, and empowerment (Ephesians 4:17-18, 20-24; Romans12:2). cont. on page 35

here is a teaching in the book of James (2:1426) that demands everyone who has faith in Jesus Christ to consider and apply to their lives. In the above reference we read: “In the same way, faith by itself is dead if it doesn’t cause you to do any good things”–James 2:17 GWT “In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” NIV “So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.” NLT Please note that this doctrine does not say we are saved by works, but teaches that rewards are only meant for those who work, and work is the proof of faith. Jesus said, “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” Rev. 22:12; Mat. 16:27 “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.” Galatians 5:6 Reason to work and not just claim faith alone: a) It is a command – 1 Tim. 6:16; b) It pleases God – Heb. 13:16; c) We are known and our faith is shown by our action – 1 Pet. 2:12; James 2:18-19 Examples of works shown by people of faith: 1. Going out of your way to meet people’s needs – Jesus’s teaching (Mt. 25:35-36). 2. The man from Samaria – Luke 10:30-37 3. Volunteering time, cash, materials and other helps for people – Dorcas (Acts 9:36) 4. Participating in various services in God’s house / 8

temple / church – (Neh. 13:14) 5. Obedience – in various instances of the life of Abraham. 6. Encouraging people and helping to build up the body of Christ. 7. Filling in where you see a void. 8. Doing simple things that are good (clean the church, call members, etc.). “If it hath not works, is dead – The faith that does not produce works of charity and mercy is without the living principle which animates all true faith, that is, love to God and love to man…” Clarke’s commentary “Faith that has no power to bring one to obedience and to sway the life is as worthless as good wishes which end in words.” – People’s NT commentary “There is no way to show we really believe in Christ, but by being diligent in good works, from gospel motives, and for gospel purposes…” – Matthew Henry’s commentary Work is the fruit of faith; if there is no work, there is no fruit; if there is no fruit, it is as good as having no faith. Good works that are not grounded in the faith of Christ Jesus is useless, just as faith that has nothing to show is useless. Do you have a sermon notebook for yourself? I have customized one for you. How to Enjoy Complete Acceptance and Right Standing with God
W
e all have a deep need to feel all right. And we can spend a lot of time and energy trying to do things that make us feel like we’re okay – okay with ourselves, with others and even God. But we don’t need to wear ourselves out trying to be right with God through our own effort. The truth is we can’t make our lives right on our own, but we can receive the righteousness of God by putting our faith in Christ. Romans 3:20 (NLT) says, “For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.” That means the reason God established the law was to show us how much we need a Savior who can make us righteous before Him. Self-righteousness is believing we are made right with God through our own works. For example, a person might think, “Well, if I read through my Bible every year, then God will be pleased with me.” But the truth is we don’t have to read our Bible to please God; we read it because it helps us in our everyday life. It’s for our own good. In the same way, my preaching doesn’t make me a righteous person. The only way we are made righteous (right with God) is by having faith in Jesus Christ—it’s not something we can ever earn in our own effort. I used to really struggle with self-righteousness. Many years ago somebody came to the church I was attending and suggested that we all read through the Bible in a year. The pastor got on board, and every Sunday he’d ask, “Who’s been doing your Bible reading?” Well, I didn’t want to be the one not standing up, so I got really serious about it. We all got a calendar so we could check off the days 10
w w w. a d o n a i m a g . t v
we read the chapters. I put it up on the refrigerator so everybody who came in would ask me what it was, and I was so proud. As long as I had all my checkmarks, I liked that calendar. But then I got 36 chapters behind and had these big, gaping holes! It was like a nightmare for me. So one day I decided I was going to catch up, and I zipped right through the chapters. And honestly, when I closed my Bible I felt so relieved. But then I almost immediately heard the Holy Spirit say to me, “So, tell Me, what did you learn?” And I realized I could not remember one thing! God taught me an important lesson that day. He would rather we read one verse and actually get something out of it and connect with Him than read 36 chapters and learn nothing. The point is we need to have the right motives for the things we do and stop making laws out of tasks that make us feel better about ourselves but are unfruitful. In 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NLT), Paul writes, “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” Every day of my life I say, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ.” Now, I’m not righteous because I do everything right. No one is perfect, and none of us do everything right. The Bible says in 1 John 1:8 (NLT), “If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth.” You might say, “Well, Joyce, shouldn’t we try to do what’s right?” Absolutely! God wants us to live through faith in Christ. Then, as we have a personal relationship with Him, we’ll do the right thing by His grace because we want to do the right thing. He puts

The Root Cause of Worry and Anxiety
n Romans chapter 12, Paul writes that we should not be conformed to the world, but transformed by the renewing of our minds. We can't think the way the world thinks. Once we're saved, we have to learn a new way of thinking. That's why we need to change our minds from negative emotions like worry, anxiety, and fear. Let's consider these emotions. Anxiety is to be uneasy and nervous about an event,
Fear is a negative emotion caused by a real or perceived threat. person, or problem we can't control. Worry is to mentally dwell on difficulty or trouble. It's a chronic concern. These are all the same emotion, but experienced at different levels. The first step is worry. Worry becomes anxiety. Anxiety turns into fear. The most common commandment in the Bible is "Do not fear" or "Fear not." Philippians 4:6 says "Be anxious for nothing." In Matthew 6:25, Jesus says, "Do not worry about your life" and "Do not worry about tomorrow." We're commanded in Scripture against fear, anxiety, and worry, but I grew up with these emotions. You wouldn't have known it because I tried to disguise these fears, but it was a heavy burden. It caused physical problems. It caused emotional problems. This led to relationship problems. I entered the ministry with fear, too. Fear of men, rejection, financial failure, personal failure, spiritual failure. My church was growing and doing well, but I lived in constant anxiety. In my life and in yours, the root of all this anxiety is 14
w w w. a d o n a i m a g . t v
an orphan spirit. When Jesus tells us not to worry, it's in the context of God being our father. I had all this fear because I didn't fully understand that God was my daddy, and He was taking care of me. I didn't understand how much God loves being a father. Now, I love being both a father and grandfather. When my children or grandchildren ask me to do something, it's one of the greatest joys of my life. And I'm a sinful man. How much more does God adore this, too? He has said that He is present and guiding us through every circumstance in our lives. Like a loving, attentive father, he knows every hair on our heads. He knows what we are facing. He has promised to walk with us through it. An orphan spirit forgets this. We begin to think we are alone, that everything rests on our own shoulders. We let chronic fear, worry, and anxiety rob us of joy. We're surrounded by the people we love and care for the most, but we can't enjoy it. To defeat these negative emotions, we must focus on Him. We have to realize that fear and anxiety distract us from God. We have to recognize that they are agents of the devil sent to destroy our lives. Next, we must capture these worrisome thoughts and turn them into prayer until God gives us victory. Most days, my prayer list is basically me giving my fears to God. It's saying, "Lord, this is what is bothering me today." You'll know you've prayed enough when your loving Father grants you peace. It's the peace of knowing you've got the best Daddy in the universe, and He wants to father you through your life. Blessings,

Lead Your Child to Christ
ear reader, below is an article that I read that really inspired me. Sometimes we turn to forget that our children also need Christ in their lives, we normally leave them to take that decision but, I believe we play an important role in making them know Christ and leading them to take Him as their Lord and perssonal saviour.
SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER:
1. God is more concerned about your child's eternal destiny and happiness than you are. "The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise... He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). 2. Pray specifically that God will give you insights and wisdom in dealing with each child on his or her maturity level. 3. Don't use terms like "take Jesus into your heart," "dying and going to hell," and "accepting Christ as your personal Savior." Children are either too literal ("How does Jesus breathe in my heart?") or the words are too trite for their understanding. 4. Deal with each child alone, and don't be in a hurry. Make sure he or she understands. Discuss. Take your time.
A FEW CAUTIONS:
1. When drawing children to Himself, Jesus said for others to "allow" them to come to Him (see Mark 10:14). Only with adults did he use the term "compel" (see Luke 14:23). Do not compel children. 2. Remember that unless the Holy Spirit is speaking to the child, there will be no genuine heart experi18
w w w. a d o n a i m a g . t v
ence of regeneration. Don't get caught up in the idea that Jesus will return the day before you were going to speak to your child about salvation and that it will be too late.
Look at God's character--He is love! He is not dangling your child's soul over hell. Wait on God's timing. Pray with faith, believing. Be concerned, but don't push.
THE PLAN:
1. God loves you. Recite John 3:16 with your child's name in place of "the world." 2. Show the child his or her need of a Savior. Deal with sin carefully. There is one thing that cannot enter heaven--sin. Be sure your child knows what sin is. Ask him to name some (things common to children--lying, sassing, disobeying, etc.). Sin is doing or thinking anything wrong according to God's Word. It is breaking God's law. Ask the question "Have you sinned?" If the answer is no, do not continue. Urge him to come and talk to you again when he does feel that he has sinned. You may want to have prayer first, however, thanking God "for this young child who is willing to do what is right." With children, wait for God's conviction. If the answer is yes, continue. He may even give a personal illustration of some sin he has done recently or one that has bothered him. Tell him what God says about sin: We've all sinned ("There is not one righteous, not even one," Romans 3:10). And because of that sin, we can't get to God ("For the wages of sin is death," Romans 6:23).

Too Much of a Good Thing
A
Many popular kids’ foods are packed with too many vitamins and minerals
big bowl of milk and cereal can be a great way to start the day. Many breakfast cereals and snack bars contain nutrients that help our bodies stay strong and healthy. But some of these foods are packed with too many vitamins and minerals. According to a new study by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), this extra fortification may be more harmful than helpful. The EWG is a nonprofit group that promotes public health.
Vitamin Overload
Many kids’ food makers advertise products that are rich in vitamins and minerals. This appeals to families who want to eat healthy. But more isn’t always better when it comes to certain nutrients. The EWG studied 1,556 breakfast cereals and 1,025 snack bars and found large amounts of vitamin A, niacin, and zinc. Among the products the group tested, 114 cereals contained 30% more of these three nutrients than what is recommended by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Of the tested snack bars, 27 have more than 50% of the recommended amounts of vitamin A, niacin, and zinc. Nutrition facts listed on packages are based on recommended daily values for adults, who are physically larger and require more vitamins and minerals. So when kids eat these cereals and snack bars, they are getting more nutrients than they need.
Nutrients in Action
Vitamin A, niacin, and zinc are best in fresh and unprocessed foods that are in their natural state. Vitamin A helps you see at night. It occurs naturally in 26
w w w. a d o n a i m a g . t v
eggs, meat, cantaloupe, carrots, and spinach. Niacin is a vitamin that helps our bodies make energy. It is found in foods like fish, seeds, and peanuts, as well as in whole grains like wheat and brown rice. Zinc helps our bodies fight off infection. It is found in many foods, including wheat-based products, meats, beans, and nuts. Children typically eat more than one serving of cereal or snack bars a day, in addition to taking vitamin supplements. Eating large amounts of these nutrients can be dangerous to kids’ health. Too much vitamin A can cause liver damage, and high levels of zinc can disrupt the body’s natural immunity, or power to fight infection. The EWG authors are calling for the FDA to make changes to its guidelines for nutrient intake and revise its daily values to match kids’ diets. Vitamins and minerals help our bodies grow and stay healthy. That’s why it’s important to read labels and think about the foods we eat every day. If you have questions about the right amount of vitamins and minerals for your body, talk to an adult.

Marks Of Maturity: Revelation Knowledge
contd. from page 6 This process leads to growth in discernment and subsequently, judgment; where the bible identifies both as key elements of wisdom (Ecclesiastes 8:5). With discernment, comes the ability to detect, distinguish, and separate with the eyes or senses other than vision; recognize or identify and understand differences and distinctions; discriminate right from wrong; in which instance it is akin to the workings of conscience.
Divine discernment, illumination or knowledge, therefore, deals with the power to see what is not evident to the average mind. It lays emphasis on accuracy as in reading character or motives. As the people of this world pursue sinful enterprises, totally oblivious to the consequences of their actions (Ephesians 4:17-19), the discerning child of God sees into the consequences of disobedience as detailed by God’s Word, and stays clear of such pursuits (Ephesians 4:20; Hebrews 5:14). It affords the power to distinguish or select what is true or apcontd. from page 10 propriate or excellent, and always goes beyond the desire in us to do what’s right. what is obvious or superficial (Matthew 16:3; Luke In Philippians 3:3 (NLT), Paul explains that “we rely on 12:56; Hebrews 5:13-14; Luke 12:54-56; I what Christ Jesus has done for us. dence in human effort.” He says he obeyed the law without fault, and if any person had a reason to have TO BE CONTINUED confidence in himself by the law’s standard, he had more of a reason than anyone. In verses 7 through 9 (NLT) of that chapter, Paul goes on to say, “I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.” Paul is saying in order to have a relationship with Christ, he had to be willing to gather up all of his accomplishments and the things he had worked so hard for and be willing to get rid of them all. That’s because it’s nothing but trash compared to the priceless privilege of knowing Christ as our Lord and Savior. Yes, what we do matters, but our good works do not make us acceptable to God. We are only made right with Him by putting our faith in Jesus Christ. And when we put our faith in Christ, we can rest in knowing that everything is all right.
