CONTRAST WITHIN CONTINUITY.
LOCALLY PRODUCED PRODUCTS (COSMETICS)
LOCAL ACTIVITY AND BUSINESS /COMMERCIAL ACTIVITY
THE CONTRAST ELEMENT IS DERIVED FROM THE OBVIOUS DIFFERENCES OF EXISTING ELEMENTS FROM BOTH KAMPUNG BARU AND THE CITY OF KUALA LUMPUR. THE DIFFERENCES ENCOMPASS LIVING QUALITY, ENVIRONMENT, CULTURE, ECONOMY, ACTIVITIES, AND DENSITY. THE PHYSICAL CHANGES OF THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT FROM TWO DIFFERENT URBAN FABRICS HAVE DISPLAYED AN OBVIOUS AXIS OF CHANGE FROM THE STRONG HORIZONTALITY OF KAMPUNG BARU TOWARD THE VERTICALITY OF THE CITY SKYLINE. THIS CONTINUATION OF AXIS ELEMENT METAPHORICALLY SYMBOLISES THE CHANGE TO A BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE IN THE CITY. THE DESIGN INTRODUCES THE SLOPING AXIS ONTO THE URBAN FABRIC OF KAMPUNG BARU WHILE MAINTAINING THE LOCAL IDENTITY AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SITE.

LOCATED IN A MALAY ENCLAVE WITHIN THE HEART OF KUALA LUMPUR, KAMPUNG BARU LIES ALONG THE VAST DEVELOPING URBAN FABRIC OF THE CAPITAL CITY OF MALAYSIA. THE RICHNESS OF MALAY CULTURE AND LIFESTYLE ARE STILL THE MAIN COMPONENTS OF THE IMAGE AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SITE. SITTING NEXT TO A HUGE COMPILATION OF HIGH RISES WITH MODERN ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN, IT BRINGS THE HUMBLENESS OF THE LOCAL LIVING ENVIRONMENT IN RELATION WITH THE TRADITIONAL MALAY BUILT FORM.

O
SITE LOCATION : GEOGRAPHICAL COORDINATE :
the site is a juxtaposition of a rigid urban grid of Kampung Baru based on the cluster of the built forms on site
taking the site as a whole maximum volume with the consideration of the neighbouring context and environment
the scale of required spaces is injected on site resulting a balance division of an open space with funtional volume of spaces
the introduction of imagenary curvilinear axis in continuation of the local pedestrian circulation from the nearest point of transportation
central side point creates a collection of radius which form a semi circle curvilinear axis with defined grid to control the arrangment of spaces
the curvilinear form is a result of a defined turning grid that would help to define the construction process of every spaces in the building
subtractive transformation of the form in relation to the site forces and to utilise the view on site

CULTIMATION OF LIVING A PLACE WHERE SPIRITS AND SKILLS INTERGRATE AS ONE
THE CONCEPT OF CONTRAST WITHIN CONTINUITY PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN SHAPING THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE DESIGN. THE STRONG CURVILINEAR AXIS IF THE DESIGN REFLECTS THE CONTRAST CHARACTER TO DIFFERENTIATE IT FROM THE EXISTING GRID OF THE KAMPUNG BARU URBAN FABRIC. HOWEVER, THE CONTINUITY IS BROUGHT THROUGH THE HORIZONTALITY ELEMENT OF THE FORM AS IT WOULD RESPECT THE LOW BUILT LINE OF THE SURROUNDING. LOCATED IN THE BACKDROP AREA OF KAMPUNG BARU RESIDENTIAL AREA, IT IS IMPORTANT TO EXPRESS THE CONTRAST CHARACTER OF THE DESIGN BUT AT THE SAME TIME TO HAVE THE RESPECT FOR THE SURROUNDING URBAN COMPONENTS. THE FORM REFLECTS THE SYMBOLIC MEANING OF A TURNING POINT TO A BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE AND ENVIRONMENT. CULMINATION OF LIVING HOMELESS CENTRE (COL) IS THE PRODUCT OF BOTH COMBINATION WHICH WOULD SHAPE THE FUTURE OF THE HOMELESS PEOPLE IN KUALA LUMPUR AREA.
