After 30 ships were wrecked by storms in 1858, it was decided to build a new harbour. Prince Alfred tipped the first load of stone to start building the new harbour and it was therefore called the Alfred basin. Corky’s favorite place is the Victoria basin, which was built later. The V&A has its own sweeper boat that cleans up the harbour on a daily basis.
