SCIENCE CLUB  This project is the result of a pleasant week in which we

made funny and educational activities at the same time.  The theme of the project was EARTH and our club had to solve some tasks. We followed a sum of items:  Terra in the Universe

 Treasures from the bottom of the Earth  The Molecule-at the foundation of the Earth  The Earth we are treading

 Civilization of the Earth-inventiveness and creativity

I hope you will enjoy watching this!

TERRA IN THE UNIVERSE  Earth is situated in a galaxy called Milky Way.  Our planet revolves around the Sun, which is a star of

small-medium dimensions.  In the Milky Way there are nine planets and the closest to Earth is Mars.  A group of similar stars is called constellation and in our hemisphere (northern) for example we can see clearly Aries, Gemini and Taurus.

TREASURES from the BOTTOM of the EARTH I.METAL ï‚— We can say that metal is a part of our daily life.We use metals much of the day :when we use the water tap, when we eat (forks and spoons are made of metal), when we go by car, by bus or by bicycle, when we buy something(we use coins made of metals) and many others.

MADE OF METAL…

TREASURES from the BOTTOM of the EARTH II.WOOD Wood is a very used material in our daily life. From the fire we make in the winter (when we use wood in its rough form)till the table, the furnitures, the chairs in our houses and, of course, the pencils, the paper from our notebooks or books we can see that wood has very varied uses.

WOOD IN OUR DAILY LIFE…

TREASURES from the BOTTOM of the EARTH III.CLAY Nowadays our houses are full of objects made of plastic or metal and the cups ,the plates and other objects made of clay are not so much used, but clay did not disappeared definitively in our lives if we think that many buildings are made of bricks.

WHAT DO WE USE CLAY AT?

TREASURES from the BOTTOM of the EARTH IV. PLANTS Plants are important resources of food for people ,they were and are still used in various areas:  medicine(medicinal plants),  nourishment(vegetables, fruits, cereals etc.)  chemical ,cosmetic or pharmaceutical industry etc.

And ,of course, plants are the ones that produce O2 , necessary for our breathing.

SOME USES OF PLANTS…

V.SALT ď‚— Salt has many uses in our households ,it is used not only in foods ,but also in practical ways, like washing our teeth, cleaning the grease on the pans or the stains of wine on the table-cloth etc.

(for more uses you can follow this link: https://www.care2.com/greenliving/47-smart-uses-for salt.html)

SALT IN OUR LIFE…

“The Earth is giving us birth, the Earth is raising us”  The latest scientific studies explained that the composition of the Earth is similar to ours.

THE MOLECULE –AT THE FOUNDATION OF THE EARTH  Pigments are chemical compounds which reflect only certain wavelengths of visible light. This makes them appear "colorful". Flowers, corals, and even animal skin contain pigments which give them their colors.

 We played with the colors and painted some pots. And that’s what we did…

PLANTS GROWING IN THE NORTHERN MOLDAVIA

Trifolium pratense (red clover)

PLANTS GROWING IN THE NORTHERN MOLDAVIA

Veronica chamaedrys (germander speedwell, bird'seye speedwell, cat's eyes)

PLANTS GROWING IN THE NORTHERN MOLDAVIA

Zea mays (maize)

PLANTS GROWING IN THE NORTHERN MOLDAVIA

Triticum aestivum (wheat)

PLANTS GROWING IN THE NORTHERN MOLDAVIA

Valerianella locusta (fetticus)

THE MOLECULE –AT THE FOUNDATION OF THE EARTH

A MOLECULAR PHYSICS EXPERIMENT…

We saw some ways in which we can obtain mechanic energy from thermal energy.

a)THE EARTH WE ARE TREADING We found the gravitational acceleration using a pendulum with support, a ruler and a stopwatch. The final result: g =9,782 m/s2

b)THE EARTH WE ARE TREADING We had an interesting experiment which showed that the mass of the bodies doesn’t influence the time when the bodies reach the ground.

c) THE EARTH WE ARE TREADING

In this way we can calculate the reactive time of our own brains.

d) THE EARTH WE ARE TREADING

We had ,also,to calculate the distance traveled on the route BotosaniSuceava-Campulung Moldovenesc-Rarau Mountains-Vama-Botosani. In that day we traveled : 41+69,4+24,4+38+97=269,8 km.
